Yes, it is true.
There is more than one candidate with a radical pastor calling upon God concerning the USA from the pulpit. Read all about it.
http://www.scrappleface.com/?p=3097
I say who a candidate chooses as a pastor is but one consideration, but one of the candidates has certainly chosen a better pastor than the other. Be sure to vote come election day.
What do you say?

Nice change of pace - having a pastor "bless" America instead of "blasting" America. What is the world coming to?

SCANDAL! Thank you for blowing the cover off this one! Can you imagine? The nerve! Blessing America! So not only does she truly believe in the right to life, family values, our inalienable rights. We must as peons, I mean Americans, stand up to this kind of balderdash!

What??? "God bless the USA"?? What is this madness? Seriously, is there no end to the constant angle seeking by journo's in regards to this woman? "Educated Americans" will surely be more swayed by the inane reasoning behind all of this crap rather than by a Pastor blessing their country?? And what the heck have greenhouse gases etc got to do with it? I didn't realize that this was the first time that anyone has said God Bless America!

While it is not the first time someone has said 'God Bless America', it is the first time in awhile. It is not as common as it once was to the point of being unusally radical.
Can we dare take the chance to vote for someone who obviously secretly desires to establish a theocracy in the USA?
All kidding aside, I did see something where some blogger wondered out loud if Gov Palin might not harbor the notion of founding a theocracy! Purely made up out of thin air! There is nothing to it.

This is the thing. There is RARELY any substance to most of the angles people come up with. Regardless of it's accuracy or not, I find it intriguing that the fear of theocratic leanings is considered as such a threat? Surely there are far worse ideals that a Politician could have? Thanks for the best response too.

When I was a small child, churches had much more influence in the USA. They consequently tried to run everyone's life for them. As a result of that, people started rejecting the church. Very few people remember fondly the times when the church had more power in USA.
American's distaste for theorcracy comes from the memories of when the church only had powerful influence in the government. God help us if the church should effectively become the government.

Yeah, well not only does she have a better pastor, she also has more executive experience than either Obama or Biden, and is therefore more qualified than either one.

It makes me think the alliteration of the phrase President Palin has a nice sound to it.

Judging by the quotes in this item from Obama's staff members, I sense they believe Palin's pastor has a hotline to the Throne, and are terrified at the prospect of God blessing the McCain administration and the USA,especially after
Obama stayed in the hate spewing church of Jeremiah Wright all those years.

Divine intervention is a possiblility. Let's pray while also encouraging people to vote McCain / Palin.

I love the way the MSM is jumping all over Palin's religious convictions. This is sure to boost McCain's lead.

Personally, I think there is still yet a lot of unknown about Palin, and that she is being covered and not allowed to speak much due to making mistakes. But I am sure that there are faults if you look into anyone these days, and not everything you see in the Press will be accurate. But for me, there is something about Palin I just do not trust, and honestly am scared that she is too unknowledgeable to ever be able to be useful in office. And to think she keeps on changing her views on things all of the time as well.

To be fair, you are right that much is still unknown about Gov Palin. ABC is doing a major interview with her later this week. I'm going to try to watch it.

On my, we cannot have pastors running around saying such things like this. God bless America how could Sarah listen to this guy say such things about our country. I cannot believe that there are people living today that our proud of America, and want to see the country blessed.

Just out of curiosity is this the same pastor who told his parishioners that if they were opposed to the Iraq War, if they voted for Kerry in 2004 or if they ever spoke out against George W. Bush they'd go to he11? I've heard Palin had just such a minister and I've heard conflicting reports as to when and why she left that particular church. Also, out of curiosity, if that were true would that bother you?

"Is this the same pastor who told his parishioners that if they were opposed to the Iraq War, if they voted for Kerry in 2004 or if they ever spoke out against George W. Bush they'd go to he11?"
I can't say for sure about the pastor in the above quote, because I don't know for sure. Did you read about him at the same site I linked to?
I ask because scrappleface is famous for its satire. The story about Gov. Palin's pastor asking God to bless the USA is satire contrasting the pro American attitude of everything to do with Gov. Palin to the latent anti Americanism of Obama.
In all the responses above the writers have made at least some attempt at humor.
"Also, out of curiosity, if that were true would that bother you?"
Yes and no.
Yes: We have freedom of religion. People are free to go to such a church if they like.
No: I would not go near such a church. Any such pastor is a manipulative liar to threaten hell for a particular political opinion.

No problem, I didn't even notice they were switched, I knew what you meant anyway. I'm going to have to look for the link where I read that about the pastor who said we'd go to he11 if we voted for Kerry, etc. I'm so glad to learn I'll be with all my friends and family after I die!

How DARE he! I simply won't STAND for this incediary inflamitory language from the pulpit!
ok ok ok , in all seriousness, the long and short of it is the guy is more like Pat Robertson than Rev. Wright. He is a bit nutty though. He is considered on the controvertial side, but only in that he has a pretty litteral view of helll and who's headed there. Again, certianly no Revreend Wright.
Either way, she left the church years ago, citing disagreaments with his ideology, though she did speak there at later dates.
