1. redchase (322) | 1 year ago | well, palin seems to be as big a wacko as mccain so i think thats also a reason why they picked her. it is sad to say that some swing voters will be voting for mccain simply because he has a woman vp. they dont care whats going on as long as a woman gets in. its all the angry hillarites. they cant stand the thought that obama got the nomination and i guess for them it was an all or nothing deal.

Barbietre (1237) | 1 year ago | Well I was not thrilled that Hillary did not get the nomination, but you deal with it and move on. I think Obama is a decent man with a good heart and will do the right thing. And to be honest many of the other Democratic choices were still better than the Republicans anyhow. And I think Biden was a decent choice as VP. It is good to have a balance. He will be a good advisor for Obama.

2. morethanamolehill (841) | 1 year ago | Are you kidding? If Republicans thought she was anything like Hillary she would be just as popular as Hill. Meaning:Not very. Palin is the Anti-Hillary. This question is an insult to Republican intelligence. I think I lost a point just reading the question. You guys just think that you are so smart and the Right is so dumb. And that's why you will lose. so keep doin it. This discussion rates one molehill but no more.

morethanamolehill (841) | 1 year ago | It's obvious that you don't care who you insult but you asked Republicans a Question, Since I am a Republican, didn't you want my answer? Or is this just going to be a Dems only bash?

II2aTee (797) | 1 year ago | Morethan, it is not that far of a stretch to assume that the chooseing Palin was a strategic move on the Republican front? You cannot tell me that of all the possible VEEPs, Palin stood out as the best of the best. The fact that she is a women played a HUGE part in her nomination, and the orriginal poster poses a fair question.
Your response is nothing but a trolling bash, and the creator of this discussion poses a fair question. Interesting that your first reaction is to attack... let me guess... your a Republican, right?

|
|
morethanamolehill (841) | 1 year ago | II2aTee, Of COURSE it was a strategic move. Everything these guys do is a strategy. The last seven years of Bushbashing has been a strategy. But that doesn't mean that the strategy was to chose a woman to fool Hillary supporters.lol The strategy was to get votes and I think the McCain camp was more interested in picking up the conservative vote rather than Hillary's voters. gmab
And the very fact that you called what I wrote an "attack" shows that you don't even see how the Original Question is an attack on Republicans. The question asks what the Republicans think. But she obviously doesn't want 'pubs to respond.
"I do not care if Republicans are insulted...no one forced you to respond." She obviously just wants a little liberal powwow so they can all bash Republicans in general and Sarah Palin specifically.
"...yeah she is a woman but that is where the similarity ends." I agreed with her on this point but I just wonder why she thinks that this statement is only obvious to her.
"...insult to my intelligence to think I will now vote because a woman is on the ticket!" I do not see why this statement, Which isn't even true btw, would insult anyone's intelligence... unless they are still hung up on Gender and skin color. The republicans have had intelligent, even clean and articulate,=)Black and brown people, male and female, at high level positions for several terms now, And would have many more if not for democrat obstructionism. While the "Party of Change" Still has a former KKK member Three Heartbeats from the White House.

| sassykats (15) | 1 year ago | I agree and l I think Obama needs to go back and organize his community! I see how he reacts under pressure. He is acting like he is in grade school trying to bring up lipstick and pigs. When McCain said it he was refering to a bill, it was said totally different than what Obama said. And do you think I am going to vote for Obama because just because he is an african american? NO, but I bet most of his followers are!

5. nanajanet (2666) | 1 year ago | I think that was the purpose of having an attractive woman. Trying to get some male votes, for her looks (as some just don't investigate the issues), trying to get some female votes, because she is a woman (same as above), but much that she stands for is so against what I do.
Additionally, I am not voting for the vice-president but the president. I hear things like, "people say she is inexperienced but so it Obama," but who is really experienced at being the president? Have we not seen more "experienced" men get into the White House and mess things up?
I am sad that Hillary did not get this far but I sure as heck am not going to vote for McCain, just because he chose a female running mate.
It's scary, though, because since she was on the ticket, the polls have gone in his favor, but we know, even the voting process can be in someone's favor and they can still lose (I.E. Gore vs Bush).

II2aTee (797) | 1 year ago | You completely missed the point of my post. Pro-choice is not about pro-abortions. It's about being Pro-Life with the lives we have NOW. If a woman cannot support a child... should she be FORCED into poverty to do so? Should she be FORCED to carry the uncomfortable, unwanted pregnancy for 9 months, and then be FORCED to give it up for adoption?
No. Thats the stand of pro - choice. We are Pro-Life. The life that exists NOW.

7. kenzie45230 (2467) | 1 year ago | Heck no, Republicans don't think she's another Hilary. That's why we love her and can relate to her...and could not relate at all to Hilary.
But there were women who were going to vote for Hilary who are now going to vote for McCain/Palin. Our local news has interviewed quite a few. So has the national news media. One Hilary spokesperson said that of the 18 million Hilary supporters, probably 8 million would vote for McCain/Palin. That's because Hilary had the support of both liberal Democrats and moderates and independents. Palin appeals to conservatives and to some moderates and some independents.
Yesterday's Gallop poll said that 53% of white women would vote for McCain/Palin. (I have to wonder if we'll ever have polls that don't mention race or ethnicity. It's doubtful.)

8. irisheyes (2933) | 1 year ago | I felt exactly as you do until I realized that the McCain camp is not trying to get Hillary's votes with this nomination. They are playing to the right wing and they have solidified that base with this very mediocre choice. Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton and I expect her nomination will drive Hillary's people solidly over to Obama. I know it has put me (a Hillary supporter)firmly into the Obama column. Any doubts I may have harbored were removed when Sarah Palin became the Republican nominee.

10. lloydanthony111 (1178) | 1 year ago | The Palin/McCain ticket believes that women should vote for them just because Palin is a woman.
Forget the fact that she may have the deciding vote in overturning Roe vs. Wade.
Forget the fact that she is one heartbeat away from being President.
Forget the fact that she wants to overturn all the gains made by women.
I can't believe how many women have gone over to the Palin/McCain camp because she's now on the ticket.
If they think that she has their best interests in mind, then they are sadly mistaken.
P.S. When will the Palin/McCain ticket start discussing the issues facing ordinary, everyday Americans?

lloydanthony111 (1178) | 1 year ago | Why do you and others believe they have any right telling a woman what she can and cannot do with their own bodies?
Don't you have enough to do without getting into someone elses personal business.
You people are very intrusive.
