If Jesus will ask you to be his wife

This is just a discussion. I don't think Jesus will be mad if you give your opinions.

I think it is possible for Jesus to marry, though I readily admit that He did not marry. Marriage does not make anyone unholy according to Christian belief cos marriage is God's design. Marriage was instituted by God himself before the Fall and so marriage per se is good.

It never said Jesus didn't get married in the Bible. Actually it gives clues that he was probably married to Mary Magdalene.

Thats part of the Holy Sepulcher theory, i think.

I believe Jesus did have a wife. i think its not healthy for a man NOT to want a wife, look at all the sexual predators. Whoever made of that rule sucks

Well, it's just not on The Da Vinci Code, I've heard about it years before the book even came out. I don't care if it's true or not. Whether he's married or not, He is still my Lord, it doesn't change anything.

Prinzess, the Bible never said Jesus did not marry, that's just as you said. But the argument from silence is strong. At one point the apostle Paul argued that they have the right to take their wife with them as apostle even as Peter was doing. Paul would have used Jesus' name to argue for his case if Jesus was married. But Paul rather used Peter's name to argue for his case. Won't it give a knock down argument if he had used his Lord's name? It would. But Paul did not use Jesus's name most probably because Jesus was never married.

Now you can also put forward why you think Jesus was married.

But if you want to appeal to Dan Brown's argument it won't work. Cos I have puncture his argument when I said that even if Jesus was married it won't pose any problem for Christian theology. Brown's point was that Jesus' marriage was hidden cos marriage would affect disciples' proclamation of Jesus as divine. But my question is why would Jesus' marriage affect his divinity? If Jesus had unlawful sexual relationship that would certainly affect his divinity. But otherwise there was no reason why christian theology would be affected.

Headhunter, I would like to point out a few things:

1. You have already mentioned it isn't present in the Bible that Jesus was not married. Indeed if that were so important, perhaps the Gospel writers should have mentioned it. Marriage or not marriage is an important issue, whether you like it or not. Is there any particular reason why it was never mentioned at all?

2. Mary was a direct disciple of Jesus. Why was her Gospel deleted from the Bible? As you are aware, the Bible was 'composed' about 300 years after Jesus' resurrection. I thought the direct apostles like Mary, Thomas etc had done a great job to write about Jesus in their gospels. Is it not surprising that their versions were 'left out'?

3. The divinity of Jesus will not be tarnished by a wife, but certainly if he had children, then the situation gets a little more complicated!

In my opinion, I think there's nothing wrong if Jesus got married.

Let's disregard religion for now, just IMAGINE Jesus as an ordinary guy with a superb personality - in short, he's perfect (for women that is). So what's your response?

It is quite difficult not to add religion in this topic... since Jesus Christ is a religious figure... and for us Catholics... He is the Son of God...

All Christians understand that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Why do you say ESPECIALLY catholics are asked? Are you somehow better than the Protestant denominations? You who worship and pray to Mary as the intercessor are corrupting Christendom by offering that which belongs only to God, to mortal entities!

To answer the primary question though, I've already said yes!

I used to be part of the Protestant denomination, but I decided to break free from it. I now consider myself as a believer and I don't want to be part of any organized religion.

Just wanted to add I thought we were all brides of Christ anyway, too many wives. I believe in Mmonogamy LOL.

consider that this was in a time when women were literally traded between families in marriage. marriage wasn't then what it is now, an expression of love and commitment, freely entered into by both parties. it was the transfer of ownership from the fathers family into the husbands family.


and that old style marriage shouldn't happen. marriage should always be between two in love.
