I still pick out the outfits for my twins, who will be 6 in a month, and they never throw a fuss as to what I give them to wear.
But the oldest, who is 11 and dresses himself, can sometimes cause an argument. But not because he wants to look all preppy or anything... because he usually looks like a bum!!! He comes down all dressed, and the clothes either don't match, or look dirty, or are not school clothes, and I have to send him right back up to change. He'll come back down in something equally awful and back up he goes again. After about the 5th time he's already 5 minutes late, so he just goes as is, regardless how dreadful he looks. I hope eventually he'll learn to start dressing better and caring about his looks and smell!!

Sounds like a typical boy. I think the caring about it goes along with liking girls. (At least that is what I have been told) Good luck

He claims to already have a girlfriend... guess she doesn't mind the bummy look and smell, lol.
Although he does seem better this year, his appearance was a huge issue last year. Maybe he is finally starting to care.

Does he see his father dress this way? It could be he is wanting to look like dad. It is good that he cares about how he looks and girls like a smart dressed boy.

Nothing wrong with looking your best. Guess he figured that out.

My little sister adores dressing up. But before long we will be getting out the knit tights since it is starting to get chilly here. She loves wearing dressing and skorts to school. When I went to school I wore the more dressy up clothes while other kids had jeans and t-shirts I had dresses, skirts, and dressy pants. I liked looking nice and felt it gave me a confidence boost. Also probably why I felt more mature then the other kids in class.

Hello ersmommy. Yeah, my son likes dressing up for school, especially when he is in his teen now. He pays more attention to his appearance before his classmates. He chooses the clothes he likes as always.

I dont' really know if mine did so much or not. They always had nice clothes, as fashionable as I could afford. I don't remember any complaints except from my daughter when "biker shorts" under a "baby doll dress" were in - I thought that rather disgusting and wouldn't for a long time let her dress like that but finally gave in as if that is the worst she went, then I would be thankful!
But when I was in high school I always like to dress nicely. I seldom wore pants, always liked wearing skirts with boots, or cute shoes. Just more enjoyed the look of nice dress than casual and skirts were made for women! Just one more thing we females can do that men can't!

All those wonderful girl genes acting up in the morning? It's cute and so oddly stereotypical, the girl going through her closet to find "nothing to wear." I would suppose that is like staring at a fridge full of food or a pantry and coming to the conclusion that there is nothing to eat in the whole house. :)

After her dad left this morning, she thought it might be nice to dress for dinner tonight. Don't have the heart to tell her dad will be working late today.

LOL. My daughter used to love to get her clothes out for school. She used to pick out the weirdest things. I always had to make her change because it just was not presentable at all LOL.

Yes, but at this time only my daughter who like to dress up to go to school. My Two and a half years old son already go to school at this time, but he odes not really care which clothes that he wear, as long as it keep him warm, he is fine with that. I don't know if it is a girl thing or not. I think my son is still too young to care about it.
