Has Anyone Asked You For Your Autograph?

Irisheyes's discussion about the Palin family and autographs gave me the idea for this thread. Not that I want to make this about the Palin family, I just wanted to give inspirational kudos to where they are due.
I remember the first time someone asked me for my autograph. It was at the airport in Bangor, Maine. Returning from Desert Storm, we stopped there for refuelling. There were literally thousands of people there to welcome us. We weren't from Maine, we were from Ft. Bragg, NC, but they didn't care.
Bangor was the first contact back on American soil for a lot of plane loads of returning troops. The people of Bangor knew this, so they wanted us to feel welcome back home.
I don't know how many times I wrote my name on papers, stuffed animals, autograph books, T-shirts, Army posters, and whatever else was put in my hands.
I knew it wasn't about me, it was about my uniform and what I represented to them. Those bits of memorabilia are probably fading away somewhere in basements and attics of Bangor... much like the most the memorabilia of us vets.
But I'll never forget the look in the eyes of the boys and girls, men and women who, for that few moments, wanted me to feel like a hero.
It's happened a few times since. I guess you can't do things that people consider "heroic" without attracting a few fans... even if it is just for the moment.
What about you?

I have actually been asked for my autograph. If you knew my full name and did a search you would find out that I am popular amongst certain circles simply because a band wrote a song about me. Awhile after the song was written and released, I was getting all sorts of strange requests. Autograph requests was one of those. I haven't actually signed anything but that's because I've been keeping a low profile as of late. Haven't been anywhere around any of those that'd probably ask me for it.

But it did feel good to be asked, didn't it?
That would be cool to have a song written after you. Unless it was a very sad or tragic song.

Nope, never been asked. Also, have never asked anyone for an autograph except to have a book signed. It's amazing how much an author's signature can add to value, especially if it's potentially a presidential signature. I had this grand scheme to have all of the candidates sign one of their books (they almost all have books. It's a requirement if running for president) while they were in Philly. I was just too lazy to get out there and brave the crowds but everytime I saw one of them in the news signing a piece of paper for someone, I'd yell at the TV "No not on the paper, get it on a book".
Glad you cleared up the autograph thing here. I was wondering about that when you said you'd been asked several times for an autograph. I thought you were maybe an anonymous celebrity on Mylot.

Nope, no one lining up for my autograph.. not yet anyway!
I'm happy about your reception in Bangor, Maine. It makes me happy, especially as I grew up in Maine.. although I think any state would have their share of good ones like this! And hopefully this type of thing still goes on!!

Congrats to you and thank you for your service. I'll ask for your autograph too, if we should meet.
As for myself?
Yes, my banker, and other bill collectors have asked for my autograph numerous times.
