"That One" vs "The One" |
|
The marching orders have gone out from the DNC, a good Democrat will express outrage about McCain refering to Obama as "That One"...
But in their myopic hypocrisy, they forget that "The One" is a common reference to Obama.
Just another example of Mindless Minions vs Critial Thinkers.

ClarusVisum (1018) | 1 year ago | The record and experience of voting with Bush the vast majority of the time, and bragging about agreeing with him far more than disagreeing, as well as agreeing with him on all the transcendent issues. That's his record, and that's his experience.
And that's why he's going to lose.

2. Taskr36 (4644) | 1 year ago | This just in! Phrases such as: That One, That Guy, This Guy, and HIM are all racial slurs. Avoid using them when Obama is in the room!

3. spalladino (9061) | 1 year ago | I've been busy all day today so I guess I'm "out of the loop." I watched the debate on CNN last night and a little bit of the analysis afterwards where that comment was mentioned but I didn't notice the Democrats on the panel expressing outrage. As far as the "The One" reference, I musta missed that one along the way. Guess I'll have to try to get caught up when I get home.

4. betsyraeduke (1227) | 1 year ago | I only seen bits and peaces of the debate because my husband had the remote and he didn't want to watch it but I did see a clip on the morning news of when McCain referred to Obama as, "that one". It didn't sound racist to me. When I heard it I thought he was saying, "that one", meaning, "that candidate" (Obama), not "this candidate" (himself). I was not aware that democrats or anyone was upset about it.

ClarusVisum (1018) | 1 year ago | It's not really being talked about as a racist thing, but it is kinda disrespectful to point to the side while looking away, and saying "that one" did something, instead of using his name and looking at him directly. It goes hand in hand with McCain's seeming inability to look at Obama at ALL in the first debate--just kind of a dismissive attitude. Not acknowledging/respecting your opponent. That kind of thing.
Think about this: if Obama had done that instead of McCain, do you have any doubt there would be an explosion of pseudo-outrage from the right?

5. ClarusVisum (1018) | 1 year ago | Um, did you forget that "The One" was an equally disrespectful term assigned to Obama by a McCain attack ad that tried to paint him as some kind of messianic cult figure?
"The One" is a common reference to Obama...by his DETRACTORS. So much for your "critial (sic) think"ing.

ParaTed2k (4591) | 1 year ago | The McCain campaign isn't the ones that paint Obama as some kind of messianic cult figure. Have you seen the "Obama Youth" videos? Have you been to an Obama campaign rally?
Obama supporters are the ones who have made him some kind of messianic cult figure.
Yes, his detractors have taken the status his supporters have given him and used it against him, but that is to be expected.
I also get tired of those who give Palin star status too though.

ParaTed2k (4591) | 1 year ago | As I said, yes Obama's opposition is more than willing to use Obama's cult of personality against him, this is a perfect example of that. However, unless you are trying to say that all the Obama supporters who do see him as some kind of messia are just following McCain's lead, then you are the liar... which you are.
| |
|
|
ClarusVisum (1018) | 1 year ago | Pff, cult of personality my foot. Just because he and his positions are popular suddenly makes it a "cult of personality"? Dream on.
The only ones acting like Obama is a "messiah" are opponents trying to demonize his hard-earned support. They literally attack Obama for being popular, one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard of.
There's a reason this avenue of attack isn't being used anymore--McCain figured out how worthless it is. I suggest you do the same and stop trying to resuscitate old, failed smears. It just makes your candidate look worse for it, and that's really the last thing he needs now.

ParaTed2k (4591) | 1 year ago | Oh yes, the women swooning and passing out when they see Obama is just figments of my imagination.
Students chanting "Alpha! Omega!" is something that just never happened.
Have you ever been to an Obama rally? Have you ever see the reaction of a lot of his supporters if you so much as say a single negative thing about him?
The Obamabots have their messiah, and it wasn't McCain that put them up to it.

|
|
ClarusVisum (1018) | 1 year ago | "Have you ever see the reaction of a lot of his supporters if you so much as say a single negative thing about him?"
lol, and this compares to all the negative things said about Obama WITHOUT provocation, how?
Yes, people get mad when you lie about their candidate. I think they have good reason to get annoyed when these pathetic smears are being spread by people desperate to tear down the guy they KNOW is the better candidate (by virtue of the fact that they spend all their time attacking him instead of building up THEIR guy).
Please. I'm embarassed for you.

ParaTed2k (4591) | 1 year ago | What a total idiot. I didn't say anything about lies I said "the least bit negative".
I have been to an Obama rally. When he comes out you would think it was the Beatles in the early 60s all over again. Not just cheering, but tears and screaming.
But then again you are probably among the ones peeing their pants over his every word, so far be it from me to knock your messiah off his pedastal.
