Winter and summer.

Do you like to eat squash? I know I do. And I particularly love it when mum frys up a batch of squash for dinner! A simple, fleshy vegetables that is easy to prepare. And they are so nutritional too! Once considered seasonal vegetables, squashes can be found in markets throughout the year. One will be able to find a greate variety of summer squash in stores. Common squashes like zucchini, chayote, yellow crookneck, and pattypan are easily available in the supermarkets. Always select squashes that are firm and heavy for their size, with bright and glossy skin. Avoid those with nicks, bruises, or soft spots. Store squash tightly wrapped or in plastic bags in the refrigerator for up to one week. Those with thicker skin can be kept for up to two weeks. Preparing a squash for cooking, remember to wash them well and trim the ends Squash will add texture and flavor to any meal!

Oh... that sounds nice too. What kind of seasoning do you put on it? Any picture of the dish to view? I am always game to try something new with the same ingredients.

Hmm... I think I know what kind of seasoning salts you are referring to. I may give it a try this week if I can get a good batch of squash. Your husband do not like squash? Why? They are easy to prepare and taste plenty good if you can cook it right. And the versatility of the vege makes it very appealing to use as an ingredient.

I like both summer squash and winter squash and grow it every summer. Fried yellow squash, coated with cornmeal and salt is such a treat! But baked acorn with a big dab of butter on it is even better, in my opinion.

Yes, just coat it with cornmeal and salt and fry it quickly. It's really good.

Woo~~~ both ways sounds yummy. You coat the yellow squash with cornmeal and deep fry them right? I tried the same with egg plant and love it a lot! Just need to slice the egg plant thinly. Then coat with a light layer of salt. Slapped in flour and deep fried. Drained and serve. Very very nice! Best if you can get the Kentucky Fried Chicken Premix flour. Those are the best. Otherwise, corn flour or Japanese Tempura flour will do just as well.

I do like squash. I don't know all the kinds, but there is one that is so sweet we all love it in our home. Usually we just do it in the microwave and enjoy. Others I like in soup or stews. I never tried it fried though, but it has to be good as well. I buy it regularly and cook if regularly as well:)

I love eating squash as it is good in our eyes. For better eyesight, I eat squash as much as possible. I like my squash to be cooked with coconut milk with other vegetable in it. It tastes yummy and nutritious too. My mom sometimes cooks squash with sugar and make it a sweetened squash for snack. It’s great for anyone who wants to have a healthy snack.

Hmm... do you add spices and chillies into the coconut milk and squash to make it into some sort of curry? Sounds like an interesting dish if it is otherwise. Sweet squash? That sounds nice too. Which squash do you usually use for the sweet dish?

Roasted Vegetables - Roasting vegetables with some spices and seasoning is very refreshing and delicious!
Oh yeah... roasted squash is good! I tried it once during a barberque outing. One of the guest is a vegetarian and she was invited to the party as well. So I prepared some vegetables for roasting. And boy were they good! In fact they were so good, I had to run to the store to get more to make for roasting over the coals. It was really fun and delicious as well!

I think you did wizard. It is only you did not realise it. Ever been to Carnivore? The Brazillian buffet at VivoCity? Where they serve a lot of roasted meats on skewers like kebabs? Well, they have this one skewer that I absolutely love. The roasted pineapples! AND some of their buffet spread on the table includes roasted vegetables.

I never know what it is a squash before I read this post. I thought is some kind of drink like orange squash. Most of the squash you mean there seems like is hardly can be found if my local market. Therefore, I seldom eat squash and should be feel strange when eating any. If pumpkin is one food under squash category, then my answer is I don't like to eat pumpkin. No idea on other squash.

Ha ha ha ha... okay. I guess you have not tried a good dish with squash yet. But if you don't like a certain food, there need not be any reason why. I too do not like some foods. And no matter how well it is cooked, I will never like it. Either avoiding it totally or spit it out if I put it in my mouth by accident. Each to its own. So what kind of vegetables do you like?

ha ha ha ha ha... so you are a meat eater as well. I have a few friends who will not touch vegetables as well. Just as I asked them, I am gonna ask you too. Why do you hate vegetables?

I do like squash. Fried zucchini is great and yellow squash with tomato casseroles are delicious! I also like the fact that it's healthy, as you mentioned. Fresh vegetables are the best!

Hmm... yellow squash with tomato casseroles! That is something I have never tried before. Sounds yummy. How do you prepare them? What seasoning do you use? Slice them and then lay them in the pan like you would a ratatouille?
