Have you ever ran out of gas (petrol)?

I have had that once myself, I had to take my fathers car because mine was in the garage and he forgot to tell me he had to go get gas. I luckily had my cellphone with me, called a friend but when he arrived I noticed I forgot to tell him that he had to bring a jerrycan of gas instead of petrol lol. so we could drive to the station again to get some more hehe.

Yes, just recently because my husband thought we had enough..fortunately we ran out just at the top of a hill and at the bottom was a gas station..There are problems with that though..First, the station is on the left side, so if traffic is coming and I had to stop, that would be it, but there wasn't any, so I went into the parking lot..Second problem is if I can't easily get to a pump on the correct side because other cars are there. That is what happened, I went around and got as close as possible, but we ended up having to push a little to get to the pump..

Yup, I have done that before. I knew I was getting low on gas, but I was running late for and appointment so I decided to take the change that I had enough gas. My gas light apparently had stopped working. NOPE! I did not have enough gas. So little that I actually ran out of gas 2 miles outside of town. An older guy stopped to help me. I realized after he stopped who he was. He was the 90 year old grandfather of a girl I went to school with my whole life. I did not have a gas can, so he drove me to his house(between where I was and the gas station) and went in his barn and got a gas can. Then he drove me to the gas station and back to my car.

i ran out of gas one time quite afew years ago. i was on my way home from a fishing trip.but, i got lucky there was a tow truck came along ang gave me enough gas to get home on.then he gave an addess,that i had to send 2 dollars to.so i did.

No, I have never run out of gas. I have broken down before and started walking. I was coming home from work when my clutch gave out and I was about a mile and a half from my home. I started walking and a man saw me and offered me a ride. I said, no thank you, and kept on walking. The man knew I didn't know him, so he introduced himself as my neighbor down the next road who had the chicken farm. Once I knew that he was a neighbor and a respected person of the community I got in the car with him and he brought me home. I would have had a long walk if I didn't get in his car. I worked all night and at 7:30 in the morning I was tired after a 12 hour shift. My dad was alive then.. he made arrangements to get my car and get another clutch put in it. All ended well.

Yep, 2 times in my van alone! The last time was at a busy intersection off the highway! I've been lucky, tho, never had to walk to the gas station. Once the owner of the house I stopped in front of went and got me a can of gas and last time AAA came to me with gas.

Nope......that's one thing I haven't done yet.....and I say yet as it can always happen! LOL

Ah snap, plenty of times! Actually not too long ago, it was my fault, trying to make it to a cheaper gas station! With these gas prices, I thought it would be worth it, guess not!

yep I have. I keep telling myself I should start bringing a container of extra gas with, but I never do. It usually happens when I'm in traffic. I'm like ok I'm about to run out I need to get to the gas station, and then just my luck I get stuck driving with the slowest people in the world that want to stop for ..i don't know what. They just stop all of a sudden for no reason at all, and then I end up running out of gas before I can get to the gas station. Maybe I should start bringing a bike with me.

Well, yes and no. I've been in cars that ran out of gas - three times in my lifetime. And all 3 times it was the fault of the man in the car.

The first time was years ago when my high school boyfriend and I were seniors. He ran out of gas in the fast lane on the highway not far from a bend in the road. We couldn't be seen until cars got around the bend. It was frightening. We couldn't get out to leave the car and staying in it made me feel like it was the end. Luckily, a big rig driver stopped and put flares up for us. He had a CB radio too, and called for help for us that way. And he stayed with us until a tow truck came with some gas.

The second time was in my own car, but a guy I was dating was driving. This was about 8 years ago - after I had divorced my son's dad. I knew that when my car was on empty, it was just about empty, but my boyfriend thought he could make it the 10 miles down the road to my home. We didn't make it, though. We ran out of gas about 2 miles after I told him we WOULD run out of gas. Lucky for him there was another small town 2 miles in the direction we were going and it had a slight downhill grade. He pushed my car to the gas station...in 80+ degree Texas summer heat.

The third time was in that same car mentioned above with a different date. I even told him about the last adventure a year before, but he, too, thought I was exaggerating that my car would die so quickly. We ended up with no gas in almost the same spot! But this guy was a bit heavier and more out of shape. Instead of trying to push the car, he walked - again in 80+ summer heat - to that same gas station and bought a gas can and some gas and walked back.

I'm married now (to a different man) and I still have the same car. My hubby believes me when I say that the car is almost empty...after having heard the 2 other tales.
