Sarah Palin and US National Security |
Here, in a question and answer format, are some amazing details about our next vice president Sarah Palin on national security qualifications. This should make all her detractors feel better about her leadership.
Question: What is America's first line of missile > interceptor defense that protects the entire United States? > Answer: 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska > National Guard. > >>> Question: What is the ONLY National Guard unit on > permanent active duty?Answer: 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska > National Guard > >>> Question: Who is the Commander in Chief of the 49th > Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard? > Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska > >>> Question: What U.S. governor is routinely briefed on > highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter > terrorism? > Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska > >>> Question: What U.S. governor has a higher classified > security rating than either candidate of the Democrat Party? > Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska > >>> According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. 2. ClarusVisum (1018) | 1 year ago | Sorry, but many of your questions have nothing to do with Palin:
"...the governor has no command authority overseas -- or anywhere in the United States other than Alaska, says Maj. Gen. Craig Campbell, the service commander of the Alaska National Guard.
"When members of the National Guard are federalized, they work for the president," Campbell said Wednesday. "It's not just overseas. They could be federalized to go to other states, or they could even be federalized in the state."
Occasions in which Palin does retain command authority over the 4,200-member Alaska National Guard are whenever the guard responds to in-state natural disasters and civic emergencies, said Campbell, who also serves as commissioner of the state Department of Military and Veterans Affairs." -- http://www.adn.com/sarah-... Anchorage Daily News points out that Palin only has any authority over the Alaskan National Guard when it comes to intrastate matters--this is supposed to bolster the perception of her national security experience, how?

redyellowblackdog (3986) | 1 year ago | As the Gov. of Alaska, the Pentagon and probably even the White House gave Gov. Palin the proper liason briefings and kept her informed as a matter of courtesy and increased military efficiency as to the command, deployment, and logistical support of the Alaska National Guard unit in question. This did and does result in the Gov. of Alaska being much more informed and prepared than many other Governors as to matters of national of defense. The Governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton, before he became President, had much less experience than does Governor Palin in matters of national defense.
| |
ClarusVisum (1018) | 1 year ago | Simply untrue. Palin was never briefed on a single issue of national security dealt with in any capacity by the Alaskan National Guard. At least, my searching has found no such briefing--can you cite a specific example of a national security issue addressed by the Guard that Palin was briefed on?
| |
redyellowblackdog (3986) | 1 year ago | Simply untrue? Because you can not find an internet reference to it? I hope you really do not believe that just because routine matters of military administration are not mentioned on the internet that it means they did not happen. It is mundane ordinary military everyday activity to keep the Governor informed of what is going on with their National Guards that have been federalized. This has to be done. It is a practical reality that the Pentagon has to play nice with Governors. Governors have a lot of power beyond the formal power the President has to federalize the Guard.
BTW: I found no reference either to the DA FORM 2406's filed by the Alaska National Guard, but I'll bet they did.
Jeesh.... do you really dislike Gov. Palin to such an extent that you have to challenge everything?
| |
ClarusVisum (1018) | 1 year ago | The example, please? If you don't have one, it's okay to admit it.

chameleonsdream (809) | 1 year ago | If you'd both read all the way through that article, you'd have found that Palin handed most command authority to the Maj. Gen. even for in-state deployment, that there are some instances when he must get permission for deployment from the governor's office, that he regularly sends briefings to the governor's office, that the one example of a time he got permission from the governor's office, the permission for deployment was signed off on by her Chief of Staff, that the former governor says that he had more military action in one week than he did in 8 years as governor, and finally that Senator Ted Stevens is perfectly comfortable with Palin as Vice President, and as President should that happen.

clrumfelt (1615) | 1 year ago | She was briefed on high level national security information, and that means someone at the top had given her clearance to have that information, and as someone has already mentioned, that info is only given on a need to know basis. What does President Bush do with that kind of information? He passes it on to someone in his cabinet who will be able to use it when needed. Evidently Palin did the same thing. The fact that she did only speaks to her administrative skills andb understandingb of what itb means to exercise proper executive authority. I say kudos to her for that. She is ready.

3. tulipstrader (891) | 1 year ago | i do not think that she will make a good vice president. if that is the case any onewould do. once a person has a position, he or she gets a set of advisors who decide what is the priority. US national security is at the most a national waste of precious resources. what can be done with a dollar, US ends up by paying a billion dollar. that is what all this national security is all about. people like palin are controlled by the defense contractors and money bags. they just dance to thier tunes. precisely what happened with few of those senators who listened to wall street lobbyists to get those investments banks off the regulatory radars and controls. nothing more. keeping secrets, who knows she might even hold back vital info concerning security threats for personal gains.

thedogshrink (685) | 1 year ago | And that is another reason to vote for McCain. He has already trimmed that cost that suddenly increases when the US government is the customer. And as President, he would trim it even more. That is one of his campaign promises, a part of his platform, and his record shows that he really would do it. It sounds like Palin has a bigger role and more understanding of defense and national security than Obama or Biden, and you do NOT get a higher security status unless you have a NEED TO KNOW. That is the basis on which a person is even investigated for a security clearance: NEED TO KNOW. If she has no function in that area she would not have a need to know and would not be given any higher clearance. Also, the President certainly does not directly command the troops either!
| |
clrumfelt (1615) | 1 year ago | Palin certainly has more experience with national security than Obama and Biden. John McCain, with his 23 year history in the US military is certainly well qualified to look into national security and military spending and find ways to eliminate the unnecessary. Part of Obama's plan for eliminating "unnecessary" spending on national security is disarmament of a lot of our defense, as an "example" to the rest of the world. That would make us vulnerable to our enemies, and I don't trust Obama to be at the helm of the national security of the USA, nor do I believe he has demonstrated any amount of patriotism in his life that we should be willing to trust him to make any kind of national security or defense decision for us. His naivete in these matters shows in the things he has said as a candidate.

4. suspenseful (17069) | 1 year ago | If America were attacked, it would be through Alaska. The Communist Chinese could go up from Asia, also when the Soviet Union was alive, then the Soviets would have been able to cross over the Aleutian Islands and thereby enter the States using Alaska as a launching pad. Therefore with that knowledge that Alaska is vulnerable to an attack, Sarah Palin is well qualified as far as national security goes. then Alaska is the first means of defense
| |
| |
ZephyrSun (3483) | 1 year ago | How come the last time we were attacked they came from Florida not Alaska?
| |
clrumfelt (1615) | 1 year ago | Alaska is more vulnerable than the continental states to interference. For one thing, it is remote. Also, there is a lot of undeveloped terrority there and an attack could be set up almost secretly there if the aggressors did it right. I know a lot of countries would just love to take over the Alaskan pipeline and begin lobbing missiles at the USA from a base they set up there. To think Alaska isn't a vulnerable area in terms of national security isn't being realistic.

5. redyellowblackdog (3986) | 1 year ago | Thanks, for the info. I'm ashamed to admit I did not know these things already. I hope the people who were so quick to ridicule Gov Palin over her national security qualifications feel properly chagrined.
BTW: For those who don't get it, this means Gov. Palin is several times more qualified to become Commander in Chief than was Bill Clinton as Governor of Arkansas.

clrumfelt (1615) | 1 year ago | I was hoping this information would at least make sense to the closed-minded detractors of Sarah Palin. But if you read the rest of the responses you will see that anything good about her is still falling on deaf ears. In my view their willingness to choose as the next administration two people who have zilch national security experience, and even want to disarm America as a part of their defense spending cuts, is not only naive, it is dangerous.

6. anniepa (9202) | 1 year ago | Sorry, I wouldn't trust her to babysit my cats because basically I don't think she can be trusted. Call it a gut feeling, female intuition or whatever you'd like but I'm with the rest of the 59% who feel she's not qualified to be V.P. It's not jealousy or hatred, she's simply in way over her head. Personally I don't like her attitude or agree with her on any of the issues but I'm not considering that when I say I don't think she's qualified. Annie

7. kennyrose (4043) | 1 year ago | Barack Obama cuts our defense budget tens of thousands of dollars,he is making white flags,Joe Biden says mark my word with in six months after Barack Obama takes office the United State will be attacked, grid up your lions,it is going to be bad,>>>>>>>>>>> gird up your loins. Bill Clinton says when the stock market hit rock bottom Barack Obama called every one beside him and Hillary, asking what do I do this is big, give me advise, what should I do,Barack Obama wants to be president,>>>>>>>>>>>>give me a dammed break. Gov Palin balances a 11 billion dollars budget,Barack Obama maybe balances house household account month to month. Gov Palin has signed a 400 billion dollar natural gas pipe line bill and the only bill Barack Obama has signed is the new lavish furniture for his 1.6 dollar mansion. Gov Palin has held two executive positions mayor and gov,Barck obama and Joe Biden have never in their 47 and 65 years held an even one executive position. Gov Palin manages 29,000 employee,Barack Obama or Joe Biden has ever run their own business. The president of Pakistan in a interview said he very much enjoyed his time with the gov of Alaska he went on to say she is very knowledgeable and most interesting. Asked if she would make a good vice president he said he would support her same as he supported his wife before she was murdered by radical muslin's last year. Gov Sarah Palin out of 50 United State governor's is the #1 popular governor and people say John Mccain made a very bad mistake,ya sure and that is why Barack Obma has done everything with the help of his supporter other then cut her throat and left her to bleeding to death,Obama and these kind of people are a disgrace to the United Sates of American. Many real women have stepped up to the plate and have defended Gov Sarah Palin standing up for this outstanding and great lady. Yesterday a Hillary Clinton supporter was on Fox News she said Hillary supporters watched this happen to Hillary and at that time they said never again, never will we let this happen to another women. This lady who is a Hillary Clinton supporter and heads a large Hillary supporter group they all are voting for Mccain/Palin ticket. She said not only because of the awful treatment and nasty smears of a very accomplished women but Barack Obama is not qualified to be the president of the United States. Anyway Gov Palin is far more qualified then Obama and Biden put together. Gov Sarah Plain is the most popular women out their nad polls show Cindy Mccain is more popular then Mrs Obama with the American people on the national polling. McCain/Palin are holding Alaska at 55% to Obama 36% in the state of Alaska, most the Alaska people adore their gov and for very goods reason. The one's that don't is because she kicked their corrupted pal's a** out the door when she took office, you can please most the people most of the time but all of the people all of the time. Obama supporters please don't come back with she got that state trooper fired,he was not fired in the first place, and tazing a child and threatening peoples life's Gov Palin was doing her job one of many is keeping the citizens of her state safe and a cop tazing a child with his police issues tazer he should had his B**'s cut off>>>>>>>>> GO SARAH!!!!

chameleonsdream (809) | 1 year ago | Obama called in advisers, INCLUDING Bill and Hillary, not BESIDE them. He did what I would hope any president, CEO or leader would do - consult those who are experts in the area and asking their advice. He didn't ask 'what should I do?' He asked "What's the best thing for the country?" He consulted. He listened. And then he acted. That's what a leader does instead of going off half-cocked in seven different directions, voting for something and then declaring that he was never in favor of it.

kennyrose (4043) | 1 year ago | Barack Obama is not a president I understand with his pretend presidential seal and all some may forget he is Barack obama the candidate. A president dose call on his advisers of course but Obama is not a president of any thing. It just surprised me Obama called on advisers I thought from listening to him he knows it all and has and answer for most everything, oh except about his radical Muslims and con- artist pals and the endless MONET trails that always lead by to guess who "BARACK OBAMA" then all of a sudden he is simply clueless who his old pal's are, anyway if he don't know he can just have it stole or rigged. I know after Obama called all his advisers he told Washington D. C.I have my cell phone if you need me call me.

chameleonsdream (809) | 1 year ago | You'd be a lot more credible if you'd get facts straight once in a while instead of just spouting talking points and reposting emails. Let me tell you that YOU are the biggest reason that I am voting for Obama and supporting him as strongly as I do. It's thanks to the things you've posted here that I took the time to actually research it all for myself, read everything that I could, take all the out of context quotes and chase them down to read them in context and realize that nearly every single bit of it is a lie of either intent or omission - so thank you for helping me to realize just how important it is to stop listening to the garbage spewed by the so-called liberal media and so-called "truth-tellers" and find out the real truth for myself.

spalladino (8989) | 1 year ago | Sarah Palin may be the most popular woman out there in YOUR deranged little world, kennyrose, but she's definitely NOT popular with the voters in the entire country. She is a joke...everyone knows that she's a joke...and has no common sense whatsoever. She is also corrupt and not to be trusted. You can believe that the women of this country are so stupid and so shallow to support this CLOWN because they're mad that Hillary lost but the FACTS say differently. Don't bother to respond with your vile ugliness. I don't bother readint your responses after I'm finished with you.

clrumfelt (1615) | 1 year ago | Sarah Palin is no joke, spall, and people who have a sense of responsibility for what happens in this election aren't laughing. Palin is a rugged, capable, experienced leader and those who are trying to disparrage her abilities and experience are only showing their ignorance of what being capable and experienced really means. And the reason they're objecting so loudly is because they know Palin has already lost Obama and Biden the election.
