Sarah Palin and US National Security

It should.

As the Gov. of Alaska, the Pentagon and probably even the White House gave Gov. Palin the proper liason briefings and kept her informed as a matter of courtesy and increased military efficiency as to the command, deployment, and logistical support of the Alaska National Guard unit in question. This did and does result in the Gov. of Alaska being much more informed and prepared than many other Governors as to matters of national of defense. The Governor of Arkansas, Bill Clinton, before he became President, had much less experience than does Governor Palin in matters of national defense.

Simply untrue. Palin was never briefed on a single issue of national security dealt with in any capacity by the Alaskan National Guard. At least, my searching has found no such briefing--can you cite a specific example of a national security issue addressed by the Guard that Palin was briefed on?

Simply untrue? Because you can not find an internet reference to it? I hope you really do not believe that just because routine matters of military administration are not mentioned on the internet that it means they did not happen. It is mundane ordinary military everyday activity to keep the Governor informed of what is going on with their National Guards that have been federalized. This has to be done. It is a practical reality that the Pentagon has to play nice with Governors. Governors have a lot of power beyond the formal power the President has to federalize the Guard.

BTW: I found no reference either to the DA FORM 2406's filed by the Alaska National Guard, but I'll bet they did.

If you'd both read all the way through that article, you'd have found that Palin handed most command authority to the Maj. Gen. even for in-state deployment, that there are some instances when he must get permission for deployment from the governor's office, that he regularly sends briefings to the governor's office, that the one example of a time he got permission from the governor's office, the permission for deployment was signed off on by her Chief of Staff, that the former governor says that he had more military action in one week than he did in 8 years as governor, and finally that Senator Ted Stevens is perfectly comfortable with Palin as Vice President, and as President should that happen.

She was briefed on high level national security information, and that means someone at the top had given her clearance to have that information, and as someone has already mentioned, that info is only given on a need to know basis. What does President Bush do with that kind of information? He passes it on to
someone in his cabinet who will be able to use it when needed. Evidently Palin did the same thing. The fact that she did only speaks to her administrative skills andb understandingb of what itb means to exercise proper executive authority. I say kudos to her for that. She is ready.

And that is another reason to vote for McCain. He has already trimmed that cost that suddenly increases when the US government is the customer. And as President, he would trim it even more. That is one of his campaign promises, a part of his platform, and his record shows that he really would do it.
It sounds like Palin has a bigger role and more understanding of defense and national security than Obama or Biden, and you do NOT get a higher security status unless you have a NEED TO KNOW. That is the basis on which a person is even investigated for a security clearance: NEED TO KNOW. If she has no function in that area she would not have a need to know and would not be given any higher clearance.
Also, the President certainly does not directly command the troops either!

Palin certainly has more experience with national security than Obama and Biden. John McCain, with his 23 year history in the US military is certainly well qualified to look into national security and military spending and find ways to eliminate the unnecessary. Part of Obama's plan for eliminating "unnecessary" spending on national security is disarmament of a lot of our defense, as an "example" to the rest of the world. That would make us vulnerable to our enemies, and I don't trust Obama to be at the helm of the national security of the USA, nor do I believe he has demonstrated any amount of patriotism in his life that we should be willing to trust him to make any kind of national security or defense decision for us. His naivete in these matters shows in the things he has said as a candidate.

How come the last time we were attacked they came from Florida not Alaska?

Alaska is more vulnerable than the continental states to interference. For one thing, it is remote. Also, there is a lot of undeveloped terrority there and an attack could be set up almost secretly there if the aggressors did it right. I know a lot of countries would just love to take over the Alaskan pipeline and begin lobbing missiles at the USA from a base they set up there. To think Alaska isn't a vulnerable area in terms of national security isn't being realistic.

I was hoping this information would at least make sense to the closed-minded detractors of Sarah Palin. But if you read the rest of the responses you will see that anything good about her is still falling on deaf ears. In my view their willingness to choose as the next administration two people who have zilch national security experience, and even want to disarm America as a part of their defense spending cuts, is not only naive, it is dangerous.

And you believe Barack Obama and Joe Biden have more experience and trustworthiness than Sarah Palin? Sorry, but my gut feeling and women's intuition is completely opposite than yours. Your ideas on this just don't agree with the facts.

Obama called in advisers, INCLUDING Bill and Hillary, not BESIDE them. He did what I would hope any president, CEO or leader would do - consult those who are experts in the area and asking their advice. He didn't ask 'what should I do?' He asked "What's the best thing for the country?" He consulted. He listened. And then he acted. That's what a leader does instead of going off half-cocked in seven different directions, voting for something and then declaring that he was never in favor of it.

Barack Obama is not a president I understand with his pretend presidential seal and all some may forget he is Barack obama the candidate.

It just surprised me Obama called on advisers I thought from listening to him he knows it all and has and answer for most everything, oh except about his radical Muslims and con- artist pals and the endless MONET trails that always lead by to guess who "BARACK OBAMA" then all of a sudden he is simply clueless who his old pal's are, anyway if he don't know he can just have it stole or rigged.

You'd be a lot more credible if you'd get facts straight once in a while instead of just spouting talking points and reposting emails. Let me tell you that YOU are the biggest reason that I am voting for Obama and supporting him as strongly as I do. It's thanks to the things you've posted here that I took the time to actually research it all for myself, read everything that I could, take all the out of context quotes and chase them down to read them in context and realize that nearly every single bit of it is a lie of either intent or omission - so thank you for helping me to realize just how important it is to stop listening to the garbage spewed by the so-called liberal media and so-called "truth-tellers" and find out the real truth for myself.

Sarah Palin may be the most popular woman out there in YOUR deranged little world, kennyrose, but she's definitely NOT popular with the voters in the entire country. Sarah Palin is no joke, spall, and people who have a sense of responsibility for what happens in this election aren't laughing. Palin is a rugged, capable, experienced leader and those who are trying to disparrage her abilities and experience are only showing their ignorance of what being capable and experienced really means. And the reason they're objecting so loudly is because they know Palin has already lost Obama and Biden the election.

I have come to believe the MSM and pollsters are a bunch of liars who are only going to report what fits their agenda. Casting Sarah Palin in a positive light
would lessen their ability to manipulate the situation. The truth has a way of
doing that.
