Non-Stop Headaches and eye aches |
|
Well I have been getting these terrible headaches that ran from my eyes around to my face. I could hardly see the TV with my glasses anymore. SO I went to the eye Dr today for an exam and new glasses. Now we all have heard the eyes get worse with age right? NOT!! MIne are getting better as far as seeing distances. Close up, my bifocals need changing badly. So I now have new glasses on order so I can see better and hopefully this will rid me of these head/eyc aches as well. Now they have a new machine called Optomap. It takes photos of the retina. One eye at a time and a bright green light shines then flashes. Painless and wuick. They usually do 2 photos of each eye. But I moved and had 3 of each done. A much better procedure than in the past. Previously the Dr could get a 320 degree view of the retina, now with this Optimap they get a 200 degree view seeing possible things like cancer of the eye, Glaucoma, Retinal detachment, Macular Degeneration and others earlier than before. SO have you been to the eye Dr lately? Are you eyes better or worse than before? Ever have this Optomap done? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I am sure my eyes have changed and if they haven't I do need new frames for the glasses I use when on the computer. My vision has gotten better also for the distance vision. I also have astigmatism in both eyes. I am not sure what all the eye doctor looked at or with the last time I saw him. I do know that they don't do that puff or air any longer where I went to check for glaucoma or something.

13. Grandmaof2 (4356) | 1 year ago | I have had my eyes checked this year and my eye sight is the same as last year. I only need glasses to read and use the computer, which again involves reading. I have never heard about the optomap ever and my first husband had glaucoma, retinal detachment and had all kinds of trouble. I have always believed the U.S. has much better technology and far more knowledgeable doctors. I'm glad you had some good news because eye sight is one of our most important senses. Here wher I live it cost us 85.00 for an eye exam, if you need anything further I don't know what that would cost. Because my frames were broken I needed new glasses and I just bought the cheapest because as I said I don't need to wear them every day and the total cost of the glasses was 465.00. The frames were 149.99 that was the cheapest then the rest was for the lense which includes progressive bi focal. Thank You my friend.

webeishere (12375) | 1 year ago | I have no idea the total cost. My insurance was a $3 co-pay for the exam and a $25 co-pay for the glasses. So new glasses cost me $28 out of pocket money. Granted they are cheap glasses but for $28 I can manage. Not designer frames or unlined bifocals but still cheap enough for me to afford them anyhow. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

14. maddysmommy (10990) | 1 year ago | I haven't had my eyes checked for years nor have I tried Optimap. My husband needs his eyes checked and now that he has enrolled in a Vision insurance plan this year, he should be getting his eyes checked very soon. His eyes have deteriorated bigtime (mostly because of his work as an IT specialist and having Diabetes).
Hope the new glasses will help:)

15. carmelanirel (6327) | 1 year ago | I hope this helps, I set up an appointment for my daughter because she is getting headaches and it has been a couple of years since her last check up..I also haven't had a check up since a couple years ago, but like you, if anything is worse, it is my reading vision..I haven't had this Optomap, it would be interesting to see if he does have this new procedure..

16. hildas (2130) | 1 year ago | I have never been to an eye doctor. I have lost my sight three times this year. It gets pushed out from the right eye to the left and my vision is gone and completely grey for about 30 seconds. I feel dizzy too and get flahes and things and headaches. I have been to my COPd doctor and told him. He sent me for an mri scan (I think this is what it was called) but I never got any reply or letters back. Guess it was ok. Well I am sort of worried but it only comes every few months. Maybe its blood pressure as It has been high this year. Do you think I should see the eye Doctor. It is very pricey here. That is why I have not been.

17. walijo2008 (3711) | 1 year ago | That sounds like an easy procedure, I've never had that done before, I'm not sure they have the machine to do it where I go. Thats good that your eyes are getting better. I go to the doctor every year, the last time I went was back in May of this year, and I got new glasses, my other ones were starting to get old, and my eye doctor said my eyes were actually getting better, so my prescription changed a little bit, but it was for the better, I was glad.

18. tamarafireheart (12505) | 1 year ago | Hi GRANDPA BOB,
That is great news for you that you have that new galsses, I have tunnel vision on my right eye and my left eye is ok, they cannot do anything for my eye as there is a scaring tright in side the eye and will go blind as I get older, so its tough luck for me. I am very pleased for you though.
