Non-Stop Headaches and eye aches |
|
Well I have been getting these terrible headaches that ran from my eyes around to my face. I could hardly see the TV with my glasses anymore. SO I went to the eye Dr today for an exam and new glasses. Now we all have heard the eyes get worse with age right? NOT!! MIne are getting better as far as seeing distances. Close up, my bifocals need changing badly. So I now have new glasses on order so I can see better and hopefully this will rid me of these head/eyc aches as well. Now they have a new machine called Optomap. It takes photos of the retina. One eye at a time and a bright green light shines then flashes. Painless and wuick. They usually do 2 photos of each eye. But I moved and had 3 of each done. A much better procedure than in the past. Previously the Dr could get a 320 degree view of the retina, now with this Optimap they get a 200 degree view seeing possible things like cancer of the eye, Glaucoma, Retinal detachment, Macular Degeneration and others earlier than before. SO have you been to the eye Dr lately? Are you eyes better or worse than before? Ever have this Optomap done? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

41. muscles4me (8637) | 1 year ago | I used to laugh when my dear dad would say "Its hell to get old." Now at almost 60 I know what he means. He never go to a doctor (MD) but do go to the eye doctor and the dentist. My distance is also improving and no matter what they do for my bifogals if I am reading alot I tend to take my glasses off.....especially now on the computer my glasss are off. Hope your new glasses help put friend. Peaceout.

43. guybrush (3498) | 1 year ago | I'm very glad you are having new glasses, GB. My husband had new glasses last year, and when they came, he couldn't see through them! He took them back and the woman said she'd send them to be adjusted - but he STILL couldn't see out of them. I told him he was being silly - but he assured me they were useless - so he went to another optometrist for a second opinion. This man told my husband he had bad cataracts - and that no glasses would help him until he had the cataracts removed! Sure enough, once my husband had his operations, he no longer needed glasses at all. Needless to say, neither of us will be going back to the first optometrist ever again!

44. cortney09 (946) | 1 year ago | I need to make an eye appointment, but have yet to do it. I need regular glasses from the eye doctor, but for now all I have are reading glasses from Walmart. Becuase I haven't been to the doctor, I couldn't say whether my eyes have gotten worse or not. I would think that they have gotten worse though.

45. mibngold (1525) | 1 year ago | Hi, I have always had pretty bad eyesight and I wore contacts for most of my life but then I scratched my cornea, so I bought glasses instead. Well, 2 years later, I went back to the eye doctor..this was about 2 weeks ago..and he said that my eyes have gotten better. I got contacts again, but haven't been wearing them yet. I have been having really bad headaches for quite a few years now and just last week, I started getting these sharp, stabbing pains in my right eye...to my temple. I couldn't stand to be in the light! Now, I have no idea what is going on. The doctor told me that my eyes look perfectly healthy even though my one pupil is A lot bigger than the other one...which concerns me, but not the doctor! I don't know if I should wear the contacts or not! My neurologist tested me a few years ago & said that my right eye does not register to my brain properly...Talk about confusion! I can't see crap up close with my glasses on, but the contacts seem to be fine for both distance & close up! I have never heard of the test that you speak of!

46. derek_a (5093) | 1 year ago | Yes, I can understand what you are saying about your eyesight getting better. My wife has had to wear strong spectacles all her life, but now she is getting weaker and weaker lens prescriptions. However she needs to take care because whilst her eyesight is improving, she has to keep regular checks on her retina's which can detach easier in here eyes than in mine. My eyesight is deteriorating, but my overall eye health is apparently very good.

47. anne12d (568) | 1 year ago | Last May, I had this headache that stop only when I took pain reliever medicine. It bugs me for 2 weeks and I cant manage it anymore. I thought that it's my eyes. I have astigmatism and near sightedness. So I went to my Doctor and had my eyes checked and my eyes grade increased just a bit. So I had my new eye glasses and wear it. By then my head ache disappear. Thank god!

48. maean_19 (1329) | 1 year ago | I have not visited my eye doctor for almost 8 years now. Though I know I already need to have my eye checked. I do have migraines and sometimes my eyes got strained for my long hours infront of the computer.
I do not wear eye glasses because I was not advised to use one. Besides, if I get used to wearing one, I will be dependent on it and band have the tendency to get blind. I do not want that to happen.

49. katsmeow1213 (4885) | 1 year ago | I think I had the Optomap done a couple years ago. I have a freckle on one of my retinas, how funny. Nothing major though. The last eye exam I had, my prescription was the same as it had been. I wear contacts right now, so I need a yearly exam because if I try to buy contacts from the store a year after an exam they won't allow it because the prescription has expired. I need to buy myself some glasses because I don't have any. I just wear the contacts all the time, and that is causing damage to my eyes.

50. cheenlly (2587) | 1 year ago | Nice sharing it GRANDPA BOB, Personally i haven't been to the eye Doctor. For almost 29 years of my life i only went to the eye doctor once and that was not my choice but it's required at the job i'm applying abroad and that was 4 years ago. I haven't had any problem on my eye ever since but recently i had this pain whenever i'm in front of the computer. Well i haven't feel it before though but i'm a bit worried now and want to see an eye doctor to know if its my eye giving the pain or if i'd used it too much since i spent most of my time now in the computer. Maybe i just think too much or worried too much which maybe the cause of the pain. I will try to see an eye doctor one of these days. Thanks for sharing, its very informative.
