naming your cat  

So, are you planning on getting a cat soon? Do these names have some special significance for you or do you just like the way they sound?

I have noticed that same thing when it comes to kids. One of my cats had five kittens and four of them looked so much alike that it was almost impossible to tell them apart. Never the less we named each one of them and the kids were the only ones that could keep them straight. Of course after they got older and developed their own personalities I was able to tell them apart.

I think most animals respond better to short simple names. While we may think our pet is as smart as we are they really have limited intelligence so its easier for them to identify with short names.

There were several days that I didn't see any discussions with your name on them. Did you take some time off or were you just busy with other things. My truck has been broke down so I've had more time on my hands lately. I've been spending most of it online.

Yes, I have been away for a week and was only back two days ago. There are so many posts from friends that I have yet to respond. When I came back my computer was mad with me and kept shutting down so it delayed the process of responding. luckily I was able to read the problems of my computer and managed to restore it quickly.

I try to blend my practice of naming my cats after star trek characters with waiting until they have developed a personality. If you watch them for awhile they will usually make it apparent what they are to be called.

Oh, I loved those books. I don't know why I didn't think to name one of my cats baby. Oh well I can save it for a future cat. Did you know that they made a movie based on her books? I think I'm going to the library and check them out to reread them.

Yes we also have the movie for the first book here. But of course the books are better than a movie eh? I bought my sister the series in hardcover for christmas a couple years ago. Hope she will come out with another book this century. LOL

I had never thought to name my cats with Klingon names. Probably because I would have trouble pronouncing them. The only one I really could have pronounced was Worf. Actually I think the Klingon names are better suited to Dogs anyway. LOL

I think you are right there. I too think that the klingon names are more suited for dogs than cats.. I did have a kitten I named T'Pring.. she had a split foot so she looked like she was giving the vulcan "live long and prosper" sign. Vulcan names are probably good for either... :)

I know what you mean. When I had Spot spayed she got very big. It made me feel like she was healthier because before when she was having kittens every season she stayed so skinny even though she was well fed.

Than you. I always thought the story was a nice touch. After all when we have children we always look for names with meaning. All the books that are written for parents to pick childrens' names from give meanings for each name.
