I did that in the old House to lol cause like yours it was opened Planned and all the Heat used to go away I used to hate it in the Winter

I have used sheets and covers as curtains before! towels as draft blocker at the bottom of doors.

Great idea! I just have one question. How the heck do you get the double sided tape to stick to the duvet? I have trouble getting even one side to stick to ANY thing. That is after I convince it to turn loose of itself on the roll. When I have to block off part of my house, I have to just use a very lightweight plastic drop cloth and thumbtack it to the ceiling.

I used to use a quilt the same way. My front hall doesn't have any insulation from what if feels like so I used to do that to block off the cold too...now I have an accordian door in front and that does the trick...but I use a towel at the bottom to block off the draft that comes underneath it.

That sounds cosy, Ellie - and inventive! My husband built a bar many years ago for our end room - I really hate the whole 'bar-in-the-house' thing - so when he bought me a coffee machine one Christmas, I was happy when he set it up on the bar! After that, the coffee cups, grinder, cannisters, etc., all made their way out there and the bar is now a coffee bar! He still has beer on tap - but the coffee takes priority!

That's very imaginative Ellie. We bought some new curtains for our dining room as we were hemorrhaging heat into the unused conservatory. I can't think of anything off the top of my head. I am sure that we have done something inventive. I can just imagine you and your son snuggled up in a lovely toasty lounge! XXX

Hi Ellie333, I do admire you for using lateral thinking to keep your house warm. Usually I use a knife for lots of several activities. One time it is uses instead of a scissor, when my beloved son hides it away in one of his drawers. Sometimes I do use the knife as a screwdriver when I can't find one handy.

We put a blanket up in our window one year, for the same reason as you, I wasn't all that pretty but it served the purpose.
