food? Lots of are changing the way they buy food. They are buying locally grown and produced food. Not only does it support local farmers and our regional economy, the food is fresher. It hasn't traveled thousands of miles, or used much fossil fuel to get from farm to plate.
Does this appeal to you? Or have you not thought about it much?

Our local store helps the farmers out and they carry alot of fresh farm foods from the farmers garden. I think it is great that they help out the the farmers alot. I do buy the food whenever I can because I know it is fresh and not coated with with something to help extend it's life because it is needed when it travels from farther places.

Hello! I do purchase rice and local grown fresh vegetables from the daily market. But as regards fruits it is not possible as very few varieties of fruits are grown in my locality. However I prefer to buy those local products whenever available.thanx.

It is very appealing to me. We have alot of farmers in the area we live in. We buy produce from them sometimes. We also have our own garden in the summer too.

I try to as often as possible. I also choose to buy organic food as often as possible too, so it's important for me to know what the local farmers are using to grow their products.
Locally grown fruits and veggies are able to ripen on the vine or tree, rather than be picked before they ripen. Some of this fruits travels thousands of miles by the time it hits the store shelves and it's during that time that it ripens. I'd much rather have fresh, ripe fruit and veggies from a local farmer and if the farmer is doing the "right" things to the earth while growing their produce, they'll have a customer for life...even if I have to pay a little more!
What my family is eating is that important to me!

I try to buy local produce every now and then, even though it is not really convenient for me. I often choose milk and eggs from local farms which supply the supermarkets in the region, and I like to know where my meat has come from.
It is also good to support businesses within the local community. I think there are many benefits to buying locally grown and produced food, so I try to do my bit, even if it is just a little bit.

I remember this being a bigger topic of news coverage during the higher fuel prices. I think it is good to continue to reflect upon it. Even if you pay the same amount for your veggies locally grown, it is probably still in your best interest. Reducing energy dependence is necessary for the stability of our economy and security of our country.

It does appeal to me not only from the ecological aspect but also from a freshness and healthiness aspect. A local produce market just opened a couple of blocks from home a year ago and my city has a farmer's market every Sunday so it's possible for me to shop this way. I think a lot of people would love to shop that way but it isn't alwasy feasible because of the lack of resources.
