Yes, I know how to use them. I have a friend who is 90% Chinese. He often brings me to Chinese restaurant and often uses chopsticks. He taught me how to use it. So often when I go to Chinese restaurants, I use the chopstick. On the health side, using chopsticks may sometimes be better than using spoon and fork most especially if you don't know how they wash the spoon or fork in the restaurant. In chopstick, you will just throw them after use.

Actually I don't know how to use them.....and I also don't got to Chinese restuarant or any other asian food places. I got sick from sweet and sour pork many years ago and just can't bring myself to eat it anymore. It still makes me sick just to think about it.

Hello vanities,
Same here. I don't know how to use chopsticks. As I work for Japanese, we always have lunch together and I am the only person who will ask for fork and spoon to eat my Japanese food. Just imagine that... I feel terrible and shameful but yet, still do not want to learn how to use it. On the other hand, my husband knows how to use chopsticks and seems like my son started to learn 'playing with the pair of chopsticks' while eating now!

I know how to use a chopstick. I grew up in Vancouver British Columbia and when one went to a Chinese restaurant then, it was not like now, you got chopsticks first and you had to ask for a knife and fork after wards. It really is not that difficult, it has to do with manipulating your first and second finger. My husband does not know how to use it and neither do my sons.

My husband and I both know how to use chopsticks and we also want our kids to learn how. But like your son they usually get tired of trying to eat with them and instead uses them to drum the table or the plates. hehehe

Yes I do know how to use a pair of chopsticks. In my country, if you order a bowl of noodle or vermicelli or flat rice noodle (koay teow) whether soup or fried, they will give you a pair of chopsticks to eat with. But give me a fork anytime I prefer it. It's easier especially if need to scoop up some fish balls and round shaped food.

I don't know how to use them. I probably could, but could I do it as easily as a fork. I doubt it. I prefer my fork or spoon.

hi vanities
I love to eat noodles with chopsticks and i am not a chinese .. my mother used to have lots of them at home so .. me and my sister have a self made tradition to eat noodle with chopsticks ...
we dont eat the rice and all like chinese people ... but since we were trained to eat the slimy noodle, we are able to survive a "chinese meal"
cheers

hello vanities
nope, i do not know how to properly use chopsticks when eating at a Chinese restaurant either. i think that chopsticks are pretty neat to use as an eating utensil. so since that i do not know how to use chopsticks when eating Chinese food, i will just stick to using my fork. lol
take care and have a beautiful evening.

I had a very good teacher :)
I actually enjoy eating with chopsticks. Ok, maybe not all foods, but many LOL
In our home, it's kind of half/half. Hubby can use them but feels more comfortable with a fork or spoon. Me and my son we enjoy it - we actually have them home and use them often - . My daughter... well, it depends on her mood. She can use them fairly well, but doesn't use them as much - unless she's the cook for the meal and plan on a chinese food, in which case she will require that all of us use them LOL - this comes from when they were kids and we used to make all this different kinds of food and that we would eat them the same way people eat them originally, and even decorate the dining room accordingly. That is also the time when we still had space for a dinning room LOL
