"Contains eggs"

The roomie cooked us some eggs for breakfast this morning. Just so that there is no mistakes or can be sued, inside the lid of the egg carton was printed "Contains eggs" Like, how STUPID do they think we are? How stupid are people to buy eggs and then try to SUE because they contain eggs? I hope they didn't have to pay a lot of lawyers a lot of money for that dumb stunt!

It is precisely the fact that 'stupid' people with clever lawyers HAVE managed to sue companies for millions thanks to stupid laws and stupid judges awarding them damages and setting a precedence that all this product lableing has come about. So were the 'stupid' people who sued really the stupid ones as they walked out of court with their pockets metaphorically stuffed with cash?

I would hope not! this one is really a "DUHHH" one sometimes you want to yank the judge off the bench and go "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!!" if they can't see they bought EGGS, what did they think they were buying! I have to say that I wish they'd have to put "contains corn" on packaging because the corn/food starch is just EVERYWHERE!

The really sad thing is that it is not the stupid egg producer wanting to put 'Contains eggs' on his egg box, it is because the Law requires him to do so! And his insurance company will not cover him for Third Party/Public Liability insurance without the comment in view. Like McDonalds was sued for spilt hot coffee because they didn't warn the customer that hot coffee was hot. Duh! It is the legal system that is stupid. When the first case like this came to court they should have awarded damages of a cent and it would have been nipped in the bud right from the first case.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with corn allergies about two years ago. That and a dozen or so other things. I know how you have to search labels to avoid corn starch, corn syrup, corn solids, corn oil, etc. Me, I love "corn bread" but thankfully, I nave no known allergies.

Her doctor said he did not know for sure if corn syrup or corn oil would be a problem, so she had better avoid them. Not known for sure.

yeah, stupid About your earlier comment... I can handle corn syrup, but anything with corn protien in it is a problem. I know some people can't handle highly processed sugars, that isn't a problem

The more words on the carton, the more the price goes up. How totally dumb is that? I've had a few really stupid things printed on items but for the life of me, can't remember them. I just look at it and feel exactly how you do right now....like, are people really this dumb?

Hi Elic, That is like putting on a packet of nuts, contains nuts. Those eggs cost a few cents more to pay for the price of that ridiculous label. Huggles. Ellie :D

I'm sure there is someone out there that thought the eggs weren't really eggs or something or sued or were hoping to sue to get more money. People try to press charges on the dumbest things today so I'm sure someone has thought about suing because of that kind of thing. Any thing to try and make easy money. No one wants to work for anything anymore.

That is so funny. It does not surprise me one bit that they put it on there these days. We may be surprised as to how many people actually have tried to sue before it was added on there LOL.

That is funny. But, I have watched over the years, that people don't always pay attention to things. I have even seen comedians joke about the disclaimers on things. It can be very funny. Just look around and you will see. You would be surprised.

Now that's a first for me to read. Wonder what eggs would contain if not eggs? Some people are that stupid, Elic. I haven't met any but they are out there somewhere.

So help me, Elic, if I happened to be in a court room while a 'stupidity' case was being heard because I would be arrested for laughing my butt off.

There are a lot of those silly statements, all because some moron decided to sue because they got what they paid for. Wow! Who knew an iron could get hot? Imagine! Who could guess an egg carton would contain, of all things, eggs? What an astonishing world! Who could imagine if you drank bleach you could get sick? I thought it was one of the 4 food groups!! People can be the silliest creatures. They don't use the sense God gave them. (They sold it on ebay)

The one I like is the "do not eat" on the packets of silica gel that you find inside new shoes, handbags and such. Yep! I always expect my new shoes to come with a snack hidden inside... don't you??

Have you ever heard of the comedian Bill Envall? He does a skit about people wearing a STUPID sign. His line is "Here's your sign" Well the egg people need a stupid sign.

Thanks for the laugh! I was commenting to the pharmacist a couple of weeks ago and he informed me how stupid some people could be. On my medication bottle it states to take the medicine "BY MOUTH" I looked at him and stated "What do they think I am going to do, shove it up my butt?" He explained that there have been people that have taken suppositories and put them up their butts and never bothered to unwrap them... wouldn't it kind of be uncomfortable??? Then there is the person in my town that sued the movie theater because he spilled hot coffee, that he had bought someplace else, in his lap. He won the law suit. If you start reading labels you'll find all kinds of warnings that have been included in the directions due to the number of frivolous lawsuits that people file, knowing that the manufacturers will settle out of court rather than spend the money to go to court to fight the suit. There are a lot of greedy people out there that will file suits just so they can make money and often times not have to go to work. In fact, one of the frivolous suit filers here in California got stopped. He filed suits against over a hundred different businesses because of their handicapped facilities or lack of...he made tons of money in settlements and put many of the businesses out of business. He decided to file more suits and they got thrown out of court...he appealed and the appellate court upheld the verdict. Of course the lawyers will take on the suits because it is income for them...go figure!

That does seem pretty silly, but there IS a lot of stupidity out there. Maybe there should be a warning that eggshells are fragile also?

I particularly like the way the warning is printed inside the carton, so by the time you read it you have a bunch of eggs staring you in the face :-)
