I've created a monster, and made a wife jealous!

A few months ago I made a batch of cookies, and my husband wanted to show off my baking talents, so brought a bunch to work with him. The cookies were gone rather quickly, and he came home telling me how much his co workers enjoyed them. Since then I've sent in a dozen or so cookies everytime I've made them.
They're especially appreciated by one particular co-worker. A guy named Trent, who works directly under my husband. He eats the majority of the cookies I send in, and never stops talking about them. One night I showed up to pick hubby up from work after the store had closed. Trent came out to let me in and joked that he wouldn't allow me in since I hadn't brought cookies!
For 2 months in a row my husband has gotten an award for being the best CAM (customer accounts manager) in the district. With this award he gets a $25 gift card. The first month he split the gift card with Trent, and after that I told Trent if my hubby got CAM of the month again, I'd pay Trent in cookies! This honestly excited him, and he did work his butt off, and my husband did get CAM of the month again!
So Trent has now become a complete cookie monster. Yesterday I made peanut butter cookies with hershey kisses in them. These are hubby's favorite cookies. I decided to bring some of them to work for him. Hubby came out and had a smoke with me by the car, and then Trent came out for something. Hubby tells Trent that he's not getting any of these cookies. Then Trent comes over to my car, opens the door, and takes the cookies into the store with him, then comes up to the window with a cookie in his mouth, taunting hubby. My husband sent me a message later that day after I'd gotten home that he'd only gotten 1 of the cookies!! Trent ate most of the rest!
When hubby got home he started telling me how Trent's wife is now getting jealous about how much Trent talks about my cookies! I wonder if maybe I should stop sending cookies into work now!
Has anyone ever gone this nuts over something you've made?

For Christmas, I sent a huge tray of goodies with my husband to work. I figures that he would end up bringing half of the cookis home, but wanted to make sure that there was plenty for everyone. Now, a few of his co-workers already know that I can cook and bake, It is not unusual for them to come over after work and for me to have something sitting there fresh out of the oven. Still, I didn't realize just how much they all talked about me and my baking unti I sent that tray. My husband came home and told me that as soon as he walked nin the door, he was asked if I made the goodies. When he told them I did, the tray was gone in less than 20 minutes. Once in a while, my husband will come home and tell m that the guys want to know when I will be making them a tray of goodies again. I just laugh and tell him to tell them all that it will only happen when the mood strikes me.

That must make you so proud!
Aside from Trent, there's typically only 1 other person my hubby works with who has been asking about my food. It's a girl he works with who is desperatly craving my home made mac and cheese. She's been asking about it for quite sometime.

Hey kats! I think that's cute! You could always send the recipe
to Trent's wife and let her start making them for her husband
and then he might give you a break and she wouldn't have to
be so jealous! lol I guess she doesn't bake! I think that is
a great compliment that he loves your cookies! So either his
wife decides to take up baking or she just has to listen to
him talk about what a great baker you are!

Yeah,I'm not overly concerned about it. If she is, then she'll start baking herself. So far as hubby knows, she can bake, she just doesn't. That's her problem.

That's awesome!
Good for you.
You should open a small cookie biz.
Another Mylot friend that we both know
bakes cookies and such and does good money
with her baking business.
You might have a money making talent
that could help our your family.

Be careful with those cookie! You know what they say? The way to a man's heart is through his stomach.
If he starts dreaming about your cookies in the m iddle of thenight and wakes up calling you... you're gonna have problems!
I make many things and some turn out better than others. No-one has ever been jealous but there are some things that my DIL has said she will leave me to do and she will do others as she could never do somethings as well as I do.

My husband and I go through that with each other. We each think the other makes certain things better than ourselves. Like he makes bacon and eggs better than I do. He says he prefers my eggs, but I am too nervous that I'll burn the egg, so I don't make them right. With more practice and confidence I could make them just as well as he does.

Oh dear what have you done!!!! I would not worry about it, I would not stop sending them but if it is a problem then maybe you could just send them in on special occasions! I have never had anyone react like that over my cookies, probably because i am not very good at them hehe! You should think about selling them, I would if I got that sort of reaction over them!!

I do have a website, but no customers yet. It's something I'm sort of working on. Right now I'm still trying to come up with a game plan because I don't want to spend money if it's not going to take off well, you know.

I dunno, I think that's cute! Maybe Trent's wifey should get the cookie sheet out! Honestly, I think it's a silly thing to get jealous about, it's not like you're baking cookies exclusively for him and serving them up in nothing but a teddy and a thong. His wife is just feeling guilty about not doing things like that. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, it just makes her look silly.

I'm really not worried about it, and actually sort of flattered. If this is going to cause problems in their marriage, well then Trent needs to just stop bragging to her about my cookies, or she needs to start making her own.

i agree with the first one commented, maybe you can try inviting them for dinner or maybe the wife and teach her how you made the cookies so the next time it will be her bring the cookies to her husband and the same time you will avoid future problems due to that. Now i am curious and would like to taste your peanut butter cookies with hershey, i am starting to feel the cravings hehehe.

don't get me wrong, your story made me smile. :) as i imagine it, it is like a scene from a movie :) as other mylotters suggested, it would be best to invite Trent and his wife to your home for dinner and befriend his wife and tell her that you have no malicious intention or whatsoever. better yet, encourage her to bake cookies too for her husband.

No...can't say as I've been in that spot. When I was married, I did have wives of a couple of my husbands friends get jealous over stupid stuff. I'm not 100% sure this is "stupid". Trent does seem to be going overboard with the cookies. can't really say without knowing him personally. Bottom line...If you enjoy making the cookies and your husband doesn't have a problem with it then by all means continue. Trent and issues with his wife are not your problem. maybe rather than getting all jealous about trent's talking of your cookies, his wife should be phoning you and asking for the recipe!

How silly of Trent's wife to be jealous over cookies. I guess she doesn't like all of the accolades you are receiving from her husband, even though she can bake. She should get the recipe from you, then she can make the cookies for her husband herself.
I have been making a pineapple cake with vanilla icing, that my husband is crazy about. I wanted to make it this morning, but my oven is acting silly. The cake is great and always comes out really good. I hope I can get my oven cranked up

Not me, but my daughter has made cookies for work. The guys go nuts over them! And there aren't that many guys, really. They bug her all the time to make more. She makes enough for the entire plant, so she has to get up pretty early. Their girlfriends are jealous of how much they talk about her cookies.

A good idea maybe would to have Trent and his wife come over for dinner one night or something. You could show Trents wife how to make the cookies or even just give her the recipe so she could make them for him, so then she wouldnt feel so jealous of you making them for him. Its just a suggestion.
I have never given cookies to a boyfriend at work, but i have made them and brought them to him. He would eat them, but others in his house would eat them as well. It didnt bother me that others were eating them. At least they were gone and people like them. Hope you take my idea into consideration. Enjoy Mylotting

So far as my husband is aware, Trent's wife can cook and bake, she just doesn't like to. I guess if she gets jealous enough she will start cooking and baking herself. I joked with hubby wondering if maybe she and I would begin a bake off at work, lol.

what you did is out of love for your hubby. obviously you are good at baking which is a good thing. Maybe you could share the recipe with the jealous. And teach her how to bake the cookies to please her hubby too.
probably you hubby could have a talk with Trent to keep his compliments for your cookies to a minimum infront of his wife?
hope this issue do not spiral out of control over such delicious cookies. I love cookies. if i'm the wife i probably would beat up my hubby for not bringing some back for me. haha....

I use to work at a car dealership and I use to do the same thing. I just enjoyed baking cookies and after a couple people stole them from my desk that I brought in for myself it was requested that I make some more to bring in. So I would make up a few dozen of them and take them in for everyone working on holidays and such. Well a couple of the managers would pay for the supplies to make them a bunch of cookies just for them to keep at their desks. So I would make them a batch of whatever and they would be happy! So one guy had to lie to his wife saying it was a little old lady who made him cookies because his wife was drilling him on it. I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings (this guys wife couldn't cook period) I was asked to do something and I did as a kind gesture. I didn't realize just how upset people got over a stinking cookie.
