If you applaud Congress for approving the 90% tax on Bonuses...

The House of Representatives approved of a totally unconstitutional 90% tax on bonuses for employees of companies that recieved "bail out" money.
U.S. Constitution
Atricle I, Section 9, Clause 3: No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.
What part of "ex post facto" did the hag Pelosi and the rests of them not understand?
This is nothing more than step 2 in the scam Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank and Obama are running against AIG, Capitalism and We the People.

Any word about the supreme court being petitioned to look into this matter yet? This has to be unconstitutional.
Funny, not a word lately from the Obamanites. Can't say I'm surprised.

The fact they knowingly approved an unconstituional bill is enough. It doesnt' take an act by the Supreme Court to decide, it is against their oaths and rules of conduct to pass an unconstitutional measure. Everyone voting "yea" can be brought to justice for it.

I think his minions are shrinking in numbers. There are the fanatics who will never end their worship, but many are finally starting to question his decisions and some are actively objecting to what he does. Many of his minions though have chosen to hide from the political forums knowing they have nothing to defend him with anymore. The "judgment matters more than experience" argument they used in 2008 means nothing now that his judgment have proven to be quite poor in almost every aspect of his presidency in the last 2 months.

That would mean they would have to tell on themselves, wouldn't it? Just about as likely as them impeaching themselves.

ParaTed,
If this is allowed to stand, where will they go from here? This would set a very ugly precedent and nothing anyone has as far as savings will be safe. 401K makes too much money? That's got to be greed, tax it at 90%! Made a great buy at the stock market and sold for 3,4,500 % profit? More greed, tax it at 90%! Made ten dollars at that lemonade stand? Yeah, that's greed too and must be taxed at 90%!
Although I belive the bonuses they are paying these people are obscene at best, they are in fact contractual agreements that the company is obligated to pay. Like it or not, when congress neglected to actually read what was passed as a "bail-out" package, allowing these bonuses to be paid even with the bailout funds, they bought the whole ball of wax and changing the rules now, after the fact, is not only unconstitutional but worse ethically than anything AIG or the other companies have done in this whole debaucle!

Remember Pelosi getting all gaga over a plan to impose a "windfall tax" on the oil companies? Erase "oil" and put in AIG... she finally found her excuse.

It was a legal and binding contract. The ones who don't get this will when their bonuses amount to nothing. The outcome is not going to be good. If they can vote in a way to mess with a contract then we're all screwed.

Maybe if Obama and his band of morons would do their homework instead of just coming up with dumb idea after dumb idea, they could actually do some good. Those bonuses were contracted way before the bailout.Obamas team should have taken the time to research what they were getting into.Passing a bill to take 90% of those bonuses back is coming pretty close to making us a socialist country.Did these people deserve a bonus? No!!!Should it be taken away now that it's been given to them? No!!!

You think Obama didn't know exactly what he was doing?

I don't think Obama knows a whole lot. I think Obama is a picture in front of the TV with his teleprompter. As long as he has his teleprompter, and someone has written him a killer speach, he can deliver it with great carrisma.
He and the Congressmen/women never read the Stimulus Bill. They never read the Bailout Bill, and they have not read the Financial Bill that will be passed shortly. They actually all admit to these things. They admit that they are idiots. They say that they do not have the time. I read the Stimulus Bill when they put it online. I haven't found the other fairy tales.

If they pass this bill, then they are just breaking the law again. They should have read the small print in the first place instead of just cramming one more piece of cr*p down the collective American throats.
I am so sick of "Granny" Pelosi and her idiocy. How could they reelect her as head of the house? Congress is full of Idiots. They are not representing the people and are not in touch with reality. They just seem to be panicking and grasping at straws.

How did your Representative vote? If they voted "yea" have you called them to ask why they broke their oath of office?

I have worn a "virtual" path to their door. They know me on a first name basis and they do not like me. Neither does my Governor. Neither do the local counselmen. I stay as active politically as my health will allow. I am also on the County Public Housing Commission.

They're running around trying to cover their a$$es after the boneheaded decision to allow the bonuses and, I agree, it's unconstitutional in more ways than just one off the top of my head. As you said, for those who don't know what ex post facto means, you can't legislate after the fact *and* you can't single out a small group to direct legislation towards.

Oh this HAD to be planned. It's so disgustingly evil it's brilliant. Think about how this came to be.
1. Give failing banks billions in bailout money
2. Sneak in a last minute clause to GUARANTEE they give their worthless execs millions in bonuses
3. Enrage the public by leaking details about bonuses when they occur
4. Join the public in their cries for vengeance
5. Tax 90% of all the money paid out in these bonuses
Result: Obama and his minions get more revenue, convince the ignorant public that they are on THEIR side, and later be able to say "We punished greedy executives who tried to reward themselves with taxpayer dollars." Trust me, this was just too good to be an accident.

So, if this bill pass, we as employee, will receive more money base on the income we have? Is it what it meant?

Haha, think the House of Representatives act on emotion rather than common sense. Once the bill is passed in Congress, those companies that received "bail out" money simply change the way bonus is paid.
There is no stopping companies from providing mortgage subsidies, triple the entertainment expenses reimbursement, education subsidies for children of executives and so on. All these "reimbursements and subsidies" can be given in lieu of bonus as part of staff retention.
Guess the war between corporate and government is far from over.

My mom said that Pelosi is president and Obama just has the title. That's crappy that they would punish the workers who earn the bonuses. It punishes the worker. Not fair!
