Well they got to me now. First they put me on second shift or take a lay off then back to first or take a lay off. Well now it was your laid off. Now that I'm ok with that fact. Tehy call me and say you can take a $6.00 pay cut and we lay off some one else. OK I know who they are talking about and I would be working racking parts for the person that is running my press and heck no. I first couldn't do it to Miss Rose as she is older and would never get enough on unemployment to pay her rent. Plus I can't work with the woman that is running my press as she don't know how. I would still be doing the work and not getting the pay. So will take the lay-off. So how do you write a resume? I'm 48 years old and I have never had one. I know wierd but true. Plus I never grad. high school. So now I have worked my hole life being a printer almost. 20+ years anyway. Help now what?

Well, how do you feel about going back to school? You could get your GED and a new trade? And, I think you could get Pell Grants to pay for it all. You get to learn new things and you could look at different jobs that you can have a chance to do now instead of what you where doing. Take a look at your other options. You might get to do something easier that you really wanted to do when you where younger and never got to do it.

Well, I wanted to be a lawyer and then I found out that I couldn't get past the first sen. as to many big words. I have a learning disabilty but better with hands on things if I can remember how to do them.
I will be ok. You have a wonderful day I'm going to no matter what comes my way. Your friend onlydia

You can always get hints on how to write a resume online. There are templates and examples. I am sorry about your lay off, I have been laid off since June of last year, and still haven't found a job.
Maybe, since you are laid off, you can see if the unemployment agency can recommend how you can get your GED, and what kind of training courses they have to offer you.
These are rough times, and really is not the time to be unemployed.
I wish you a lot of luck.

There should be a program on your computer that has a resume wizard on it. You just basically plug & play your info. As far as going back to school there maybe something that interest you know that didn't before. Enjoy the time off with your family. I know it's hard but everything happens for a reason. Try online and work at home opportunities. Just check them out first. Basically look into all your options and Good Luck.

i'm almost in the same position as you are right now. you know what, i thought i spent too much time with that company that i was working with, basically giving myself to the company, and then one day (actually it was just last Monday), i was laid off too! and now, all i have are regrets... regrets that i shouldn't have gave all my time with that company. and instead, i shouldn't have focused myself with that job, and i should have studied and finished my degree while i was working with that company. like you, i am also undergraduate. and now that i'm 30 year old undergraduate, it's really hard for me to find a job. most companies would prefer graduates and whenever i apply for an entry-level position, they will tell that i am overqualified!

You will be ok. On some of you job applications just leave off a few things. I got a new job at 36 and was there for 12+ years. I'm not a undergraduate I'm a drop out. I had 9 credits left and and I walked away as I got mad. Well it will be OK. Go back to school as they said we can get help now. I'm taking a vac. that is the first thing to do. Then get all the info you will need to start the job of getting a job. Remember to smile always and no matter what keep smiling.

The first thing I would do is check into getting some schooling....that is an option. Get your GED....if you haven't already. Then go online and they show you exactly how to write a resume....I think even in your Works or Word program it's mapped out for you. If you have been at the same place all those years it gives you an in..because they like people who stay at a job! I am so sorry you got laid off! Hopefully for you when one door closes, another one opens up!

Well, right now I'm taking a week off or heck maybe two. To clean up my house and get rid of things I don't use and want but hey if you don't use them. Then why bother to keep them right. I will ask my niece who is in collage about going about a GED. But I hate school. No I should say I'm not book smart. I'm more of a hands on person. You have a good day your friend onlydia

I would look into getting a GED myself. That and go apply at a temporary employment agency if you can. Times are tough everywhere. It is hard to find a job right now. I wish you luck. I hope everything works out for you.
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I would have to make at least $16.00 or more at a temp place as I was making $16.62 a hour plus med. and 3 weeks vac. I need that much in order to make house note. and ins. for car and house. So we have to just keep applying for jobs. Maybe I will get called back soon. I hope. Your friend onlydia

I am sorry to hear that but that was very nice of you to not except your job back because you didnt want someone else to lose there job. that is very noble of you. Not many people would have done that. I have never had a resume but search online. there are alot of sites that will guide you step by step. Good luck in your search for a new job

There is a very good book for writing resumes. It's called the Damned Good Resume Guide by Yolanda Parker. You might check to see if your library has it. I've used it, my son used it, and I've lent it out enough so that I've had to replace it more than once (for not getting it back). I think it's the best book on the market. In the meantime, start a list of everything you did at work. Quickly you might say that you ran a press. But, what else? Have you trained anyone on it? Have you ever made suggestions for productivity to your supervisor, who used your idea. Have you received any recognition for productivity or time at the job? These are the little things that make a prospective employer pick you over some one else.
Also, is your company offering any kind of severence package that might include training for another job? If the layoffs are tied to the economy, perhaps the layoff will be short and you will be called back. Go talk to the unemployment people as soon as you can. You may have to get your high school diploma, or GED to find another job. Many companies now require one or the other. Enjoy collecting. There are automatic extension for benefits now, because the economy is so bad. Good luck to you! I know how much of a shock it can be, but I've always found that when some doors close, other ones open.

Can you just see my old butt in school.
Oh my goodness. What a site me older then the teacher. OMG I'm going to wet myself. I just pic. it. I know it is not funny but what else can you do but find the silver lining right. I'm all good. Gosh I don't want to go to school. Please call me back I will be good.
NOT I'm bad. I was there today and my boss is I miss you so bad. And I checked in on the woman running my press now she ruined the screen it has to be cut out and can't be saved that is over $100.00 so maybe they will be calling me back. I will clean for now which I hate. But hey that is ok. I'm happy. Thank you. your friend onlydia
