What Is Your Opinion On School Uniforms?

I'm from Philippines, well i wouldn't say there's some kind of complication or color coding to our uniforms. You see, most of our uniforms here especially the public schools always use the same color. Like black long pants and white polo for the high school and blue short pants and white polo for the elementary. Meaning throughout my school life its like wearing the same cloths over again. Making you think its out of fashion, boring and stuff. But in the other hand we didn't even care about it nor think it out a slightest bit 'till now. There is only one thing for sure, there are just schools that "just being simple" IS NOT part of their dictionary. I mean what's wrong for being plain? Sure, anyone wants to stand out who wouldn't? Still, making it WAAAAAY to short, flashy etc. have to stop.
Although some schools can't just accept to change these things easily only because people like me(who have no position to begin with and saying it to their faces) sees it a little bit out of hand, and if it's already been part of their culture, tradition, school regulation that's why they can't change it. Whatsoever there is nothing wrong with it to me, besides the majority doesn't bother them with this issue right?! And if it did cross their minds well they will forget it eventually.

I think they are great, uniform material is often easier to wash and tougher it lasts longer than any of the normal every day clothes i buy the girls!

My eldest wont wear a skirt though she will only wear trousers, they were a white polo tshirt green (bottle green!) sweatshirt and black or grey trousers/skirt.

Mine was black trousers and navy blue sweatershirt with white shirt, and school tie, when she is older and leaves her primary school at 11 the uniform is all black and white its fab VERY practical and washes well!

i do not think anyone should tell me what my child has to wear to school. i am all for a dress code but not uniforms. i think it is one more right they take away from us and it is more the principal of the thing for me. besides i think a child should be able to wear what they want within the dress code if they are not going to a private school and getting all the priviledges that go along with that. if you want them to wear uniforms then provide them with the other priviledges private schools afford them. if not then keep your nose out of my business.

when i was in the highschool,my school asked us to wear uniforms.our students don't want to wear the uniforms.Because the uniforms weren't popular among the students.my school forced us to wear the uniforms on Monday,we had to wear the uniforms.Thanks to the only day we had to wear,or we would be crazy.my unifoms were blue and white(my clothes were blue and my trousers were white,i don't like the uniforms)

I wore school uniforms, wasnt a big fan but I didnt mind. Our shirts were either white blue or red.. came in blouses or golf shirts or 3 different types of sweaters. as forthe pants we had navy or beige and the kilts came in navy or red and navy plaid. I didnt mind wearing them its just that they were expensive and the quality was never worth the prrice. You would get random holes, the pants shrunk, blue pants faded terribly. I mean if they're going to make you pay that much for school uniforms atleast make it worth the amount of money your shelling out on it. I ended up selling my good ones after, I kept the shorts though lol

Here we have to wear uniforms from primary school until high school. Frankly, I don't like uniforms because we don't have our own personality. And sometimes I think the uniforms are not as good as our own clothes. Sometimes we have to wear extra coat in winter. I especially don't like my school uniforms in high school. It's green.

I am all for the uniforms. I went to a public high school when all my friends from my Catholic grade school went to the all girls high schools where they were uniforms - either Loretto Abbey or St. Joseph's College School. My sisters had gone to St. Jo's. And yeah, the kilts were pretty short. And the Catholic high school where I live now LOOKED like the kilts were too short but come to learn the girls were turning up the waists so as to make the kilts shorter. They have since removed the kilts from the school and both girls and boys wear black pants, white polo shirt and dark green sweater, sweater vest or pullover. I think my daughter looks pretty smart in her uniform.

However, I thought it would make things easier on the clothing budget having her wearing a uniform to school but she insists that she doesn't "live" in her uniform, and she can't wear the same thing twice on dress-down days. She is a clothes hog by nature (she an Aries LOL!) I have gone to the school at the end of the day and see swarms of kids all wearing the same outfit. It looks nice, though I couldn't figure out which one was my daughter. Teenagers spend way too much time and money on how they look and I think they are better off wearing uniforms.

I didn't go to a school that had uniforms however, I wish I had! My parents weren't exactly poor but they certainly couldn't afford the name brand clothes that most others wore and therefore I was picked on because of that as well as for my hearing... or the lack thereof. If I had a uniform to wear, none of them would've known any different which would've been right nice. Now about your school, it must've been a man who designed those kilts for you girls to wear, why else would they be so darned short?! And to say they ban short shorts being worn in school and yet they make the kilts really short.... GO FIGURE! I'd have worn the boys clothes too!!

I didn't have to wear an uniforming highschool and I am so glad. At my school the kids would tease and torment the same kids even if we all were in uniforms.If I Had to wear a skirt to school, I would have dropped out. I wouuldn't felt comfortasble. I would worry about my uniform and would n't pay attention in class. Our school year startsin September. Ny nNovember I would have dropped out. plus ihaving the kids wear uniforms makes it so much easier to ditch class. All you have to do is come to school wearing the wrong clothes and you are kicked out.Perfect. I could wear my jeans and get kicked out.Brilliant. I think I would wear my uniform to algebra and then for science wear my jeaans so I didn't have to stay in class.Wait a minute, maybe uniforms are a good thing if you want to leave school.

Hmm. I do agree with the idea of having uniform in school. There are several benefits such as:
First thing, you don't spend too much time choosing the clothes you should wear to school.
Second, the uniform minimize the social gap, as richer kids will wear a better cloth compared with the poorer to school. This will bring the a gap, but uniform can facilitate this problem, I think.
Third, it is easier for the stakeholders to recognize the students, especially when they skip classes.

In my country, generally,High school students must wear white shirt and grey trousers/pants. However, some schools have their own uniforms which are more colorful.
