What Is Your Opinion On School Uniforms?

I didn't have to wear school uniforms. I think that it does elminate some problems with school attire and it does cause some cadence with students behavoir. If it curbs any problems its that children need to understand the importance of study and not clothes. I wonder if they teach fashion as an elective at these schools?

I think that School Uniforms are a very "iffy" topic. In places that are more wealthy I think that they should be implemented because it stops bullying and harassment based on what children wear. However, in less wealthy places they should be refrained from because it may be difficult to afford more than one set of the uniform for a child to wear. They can be good because they cut down on bullying but are not appropriate at every school.

I wish I attended a school that required uniforms. We ere poor and I only had two pairs of jeans and a few shirts to wear. I had to rotate the jeans or ask to borrow clothes from my cousins. I felt extremely embarrassed by this. I was shy and did not want to call attention to myself. I feel like if my school wore uniforms I would not had gone through this. I would have felt part of the school instead of a poor outsider. I would love for my daughters to be required to wear one it would save me a lot of money and time.

Most of the schools here in my country have uniforms. I think uniforms are a good idea because it lets students be "equal". Especially in high school when everything you wear or do was always observed by your peers having uniform puts a stop to comparisons. Schools here in my country have strict requirements on the length of the skirt. The length was below the knees and students would pull them up just make it look shorter.

here in my country, government colleges or universities doesn't have any dresses but I had gone too a private school. I changed my school 3 times. At first I had like blue shirt and red pant, then in the next school I had red pants and white shirt, then on my next school I had brown pants and white shirt and now I am in a college where my shirt is white and my pants are grey. In school it was compulsory for the girls to wear skirts and most of them chose to wear short skirts. But now in college girls have options either to wear pants like that of boys or just skirts as they did in school. Manuy girls wear the pants but there are some girls who wear very short skirts

I have always been for individuality and such but I think now a days that it can be an equalizer, unfortunately kids just find something else to pick on other kids about.. So really the uniforms can stay or go.. I don't think that they make that much of a difference..

My opinion on school uniforms are It shows the other people which schools we are from.Here in my schools boys and girls had different uniforms to wear.Boys used to wear a brown shirt and brown pant with a red tie.The girls used to wear a brown frock with a red tie.There were another set of students in our school.They used to mind activities like walking in line and order.They used to wear a white dress with a blue tie.

Hi danishcanadian, I went to school in Ireland, where I wore a school uniform from the ages of 7 to 18. A lot of people think that a school uniform is representive of a strict or even elite society and see it as having no role to play in the modern world. They are wrong. The school uniform has one wonderful quality. It makes everybody equal.
I have heard stories told by friends of mine, who went to schools in other countries in Europe. They did not wear school uniforms and they described their classmates as a mixture of the extremely wealthy and the extremely poor. The stories told of some girls arriving into school in old jeans and second hand shoes, whereas the richer girls arrived in their fur coats and jewellry.
For this reason, I think uniforms are a very good idea. They are the basis for a better society and help us to see each other as equals... Have a good week. Umart

Uniforms really making school clothes shopping easy. I do agree with you about the kilts considering in my children's school if they wear shorts they have to be knee length. My children can wear black, blue, and brown pants and the tops are a school shirt, green with the schools name on them.

HI danish! Although I never had to wear school uniforms, I believe I grew up in a different era. When I was younger there was a rage for designer jeans but it wasn't half as bad as things are today. I have heard horror stories of mothers who desperately try to purchase the "correct" items for their sons or daughters simply to find out that those items are now "last week". I can't tell you how much of a distraction this is at school when the primary focus should be education, not fashion.
