What Is Your Opinion On School Uniforms?

My high school did not require uniforms to be worn. They had rules about lenght of tops ands skirts and hats in school. But no uniforms. I being the one on the receiving end of the bullying about clothing worn always wished everyone HAD to wear similar things.

Now the school has added rules about what tshirts can and cant say as well as pants can and cant say. They were talking about a rule requiring pants to be worn ABOVE your butt crack too.

I have never worn a school uniform. Here in Denmark the students don't wear uniforms, but there has been many discussions about this topic. Some people want uniforms and some people are against it. I can't really imagine what it is like having to wear a uniform as I have never tried it, but I don't like the idea. I like picking out my own clothes, deciding what kind of colours to wear etc, and I would feel uncomfortable if I had to wear the same kind of clothes all the time. I know that there are good things about school uniforms - the children don't get bullied for wearing the "wrong" clothes etc, but I still prefer schools without uniforms.

Wearing school uniforms has its advantages and disadvantages. For one, students seem to look the same when they wear uniform so teachers often can't distinguish their students besides from the performance that they do with regards with their grades. Students can't express their individuality due to the uniforms that they have to wear. They might try to wear their uniforms differently or add accessories to improve their image but, they still wear the same thing entirely.

A good thing about wearing similar clothes with your classmates would be that you don't have to fuss over what clothes to wear every school day. You already have a set of clothes so you won't have any problem with choosing. Also, the students get to be recognized as students and most often provide security but, there has been cases that some young criminals wearing school uniforms just to be able to enter a school and then do their bad deeds inside the campus, what more if students didn't have any uniforms? Anyone who looks young could just go in and do whatever they want.

For me, uniforms are good but, it wouldn't be bad if students be allowed to wear civilian clothes every once in a week? Perhaps on that day, they could wash their uniforms, right?

I go to school where we have to wear a uniform every school day except on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

I am now in college and we still have to wear uniforms. But it is OK for me. It looks good to everybody. And it makes people distinguish us instantly. The uniform symbolizes our identity, our school.

I am proud of our uniform. So is to our school.

I am in favour of school uniforms. Uniforms put on the same level students coming from different strata of society. It does not make a distinction between wealthy and not so wealthy family.

I never had to wear uniforms. But I believe that they are a very good idea. IT not only cuts down on the bullying, but it saves the children a lot of other grief when it comes to which families have the most money and comparing their selves to each other. It is certainly easier on the parents wallet.
I believe that there are uniforms so that the children will dress more sensibly. But if the kilts for the girls are too short, then someone is missing the entire point of the uniform.

Hey there! I also went to school where we had to wear uniforms. For the males it's a white polo and black pants. For the girls white long sleeve blouse and a maroon skirt. It's a private Catholic school. Wearing uniforms is okay with for me. It identifies you as a student of a particular school. The thing that I don't like about it is that when your wearing it and you get involve in a fight, even if it's outside the school premises and school hours, the school still sanction you. There were times, way back in high school, that me and my classmates got involve in some fights outside the school.lol Most offen we fought students from other school. We also had a washday. We are allowed to wearing clothes that we want to wear, but not shorts. Have a nice day. Happy posting!!

I went to a school which had a bottle green blazer and beret, plus a green and white striped blouse, green diagonally striped tie, and grey skirt, as their uniform in the winter. In the summer, we had a choice of two dresses. One was a green and white striped and the other a block green with white collar and buttons. It wasn't a bad uniform actually, and we were allowed to wear either pleated or plain, a-line skirt. For PE, we had bottle green, wrap over skirts and white polo tops.

I think that the purpose of the uniform in schools is clear: Erasing socioeconomic differences among students and avoiding fights between members of different urban tribes.
But human beings are always human beings with or without uniform. If someone want to bully you, he will find any excuse to do so. I watched a documentary of an Amnerican school very interesting. It showed that members of different urban tribes wore the uniform in a very specific way. I mean shirt inside the pants only in the back and so on. So I think uniforms are useless for this purpose.

Over the years women's fashions have sometimes left too much revealed. If you have the pants option then it is a good thing. I would favor school uniforms, but my kids never had them. I think that if there is a school uniform it should be suitable to the activities required at school. I hated seeing girls, little girls, under 9 years old, wearing fancy dresses, and high heels or flip flops to school. Kids need to dress in a way that allows them to be active, modest, and comfortable.
