Where does the baby sleep? |
| |
| Hi all! Do you have a new baby or have had children? When they were born and you just brought them from the hospital, where did you let them sleep? Did you have a separate nursery room or just placed the baby in a crib beside your bed, or did you put the baby between you and your spouse? For us, the baby is between my husband and me—well at least for now. Then maybe, we will get a crib and put her in the same room where we are staying. But that is only when she gets bigger. We like the idea that we can immediately attend to the baby’s needs and easily wake up when she fusses because she is just beside us. Also we think that she is too small yet to put in a big and deep crib. I am not a big woman, so I would have to bend down much to pick her up. In the process, I might lose my balance and drop the baby, God forbid! This is because we don’t have our own crib. We will just borrow. So beggars can’t be choosers. Hehe so for now, the baby stays with us, or literally between. But it is okay, we still can’t do much anyway because I underwent c-section. So it will just be about time when the baby is quite big enough, we can already move her to the crib. Take care all and God bless you! Happy mylotting! | | | | | |

| | Both of my girls were in a bassinet when they were newborns. My girls both spent maybe 3 months in my room in it. By 3 months they were in their own room. My girls were sleeping through the night by 2 months old (8hrs at a time). I am now currently pregnant with my 3rd daughter and I plan on having her in a bassinet beside by bed until about 3-6months and then transfre her to her room. Both of my daughters didnt go into a crib until they were about 5months. They seemed so much sercure in the bassinet. | | | | | | |

| | I have 2 boys and when they first came home from the hospital they slept in bassinetts next to my bed. They were both big boys so they only fit comfortably in the bassinett for about 1-2 months and then they slept in the crib.. I dont think its safe to put the baby in bed between you and your husband because either one of you while your sleeping could roll over on to her. I think its alittle dangerous | | | | | | |

| | I have two kids, a girl who's four and a boy who is 19 months old. When they were newborns, I kept them in a bassinet next to my bed. At around 3 or 4 months they became too big for the bassinet and then went into a crib in their own rooms. I never kept them in our bed because I was afraid my husband could roll over and smoosh them and I was also worried that they could get smothered under the pillows or blankets. Its really a personal decision for the parents to make, if you and your husband are light sleepers and careful about the pillows and blankets it's probably OK but you may face difficulty from your child when it is time to put her to sleep by herself in a crib. | | | | | | |

| | We had a cradle for the baby when they first came home. Sleeping with us was dangerous because we had a water bed. It wasn't good for baby at all, because they could have sufficated in the mattress. Also doctors' say that it isn't good for them to start sleeping with you because they they get used to hearing you breathing and don't want to sleep in their beds. Could you get a bassinet where you didn't have to bend over much? Also, have dear Hubby check your mattress. You can usually raise and lower the mattress on a crib so that you aren't all the way at the bottom when they are infants. When baby starts pulling up, then you lower the mattress so she can't fall out. | | | | | | |

| | I would be very careful on that. I'm not sure of the laws where you are but a friend had told me about a couple who had their baby taken from them by Social Service after a neighbor friend reported them for having their baby sleep in the bed with them. You could try looking at bassinets. They might be cheaper than cribs. My girls cribs were given to me by an aunt of my then husband. They were adjustable according to the babies development which was pretty cool. | | | | | | |

| | Well I have 2 daughters. With my oldest daughter, when we had her, we were living with my mother in law, so we had a pack & play in our room with us, but alot of the time she slept with us. I regret that. When we tried to get her to sleep in her own crib it was horrible she would scream & throw fits & make herself sick. I couldnt get mad at her because it was our fault. It was so hard to get her to finally go into a crib. I had to let her fall asleep & then move her. Now she is 3 & she has a twin bed & she will never sleep anywhere but that bed. LOL. Now my youngest daughter slept on her own in her crib. She didnt want to be bothered. She was such an easy baby when it came to her sleeping situation. She is 2 now & finally outgrowing her crib. She is learning to climb out of it. How old is your baby? I would suggest getting a crib or putting a pack n play in the room with you & getting her to sleep in there as young as you can because it is definatly not easy to teach them they have to sleep in their own bed. There are so many risks having a baby in bed with you like rolling on them or them falling off of the bed if one of you gets out of the bed. That happend to my friends little boy & he broke his arm & had to have surgery. Hope this helped. Have a nice night! | | | | | | |

| | After giving birth and arriving home from the hospital I and my husband put our baby in his crib. That is because our room has been set up even before I gave birth. When our baby is awake he is beside us and we play with him. But when he is sleeping we put him back to his crib which is big enough that can still carry a 5 year old kid. The crib is big because my husband want a big crib. It is also adjustable according to the age and the ability of the baby to crawl and climb. I do not have difficulty in getting the baby because the bed in the crib is high. Anyway wherever we place our baby as long as he or she is comfortable and safe that is what is more important. | | | | | | |
