Squirrel and bird food  

I have grown them and they are beautiful. I am for anything that will help to feed the birds and animals. We have to care about all of God's creatures too. That is so wonderful and your flowers look very healthy. I look forward to seeing the pictures of the flowers.

We have great fun with sunflowers, every critter seems to love the seeds. They don't grow very well here, to much rain, but I buy them in big 50 lbs sacks.

I have never grown any sunflowers but know others who have and some got so huge and so pretty. Maybe I need to get some sunflower seeds to throw out in my yard for the birds and squirrels. I sat outside the other day for the longest watching a squirrel in the yard digging and eating, too cute.

No I don't as we have all the veg. and have no space for sunflowers so No. I am putting in Tulips in the front of my house soon. YOu have a good day. Your friend onlydia

The squirrels planted their own sunflowers last year, and harvested them too, I might add. Only time will tell what they plant this year.

We had some sunflowers in the back yard when I was growing up, but I have not had them since the. Maybe I will plant some this years. I think they are pretty flowers.

Your sunflower seeds are looking good! I have grown sunflowers before and they are very pretty! I loved having them, but seeing as I am renting where I'm living that is something else that will have to wait until I get my own place I think! I'm sure once I have my own house, and a garden that I really enjoy then I will be super happy :) Sounds like you do have quite the green thumb. Keep up the great work!

I love sunflower seeds and pumpkin seed, I do buy some to eat as well as putting some out for the birds and squirrels, also I throw some bread out as well for them. The squirrels loves the bread so does the pigions.

I have some black oil sunflower seeds I want to plant in the alley where they'll have a lot of sun. Last year a bird deposited one by the house and the sweet but silly young man who mows my lawn sometimes mowed it down! That's another thing I need to start in my little pots.

Yes I do, in fact a few years ago I won a contest for having the biggest 2 headed sunflower! (Secretly I didn't plant it, the squirrels did), but I took credit for it and sent in the picture and I won, but I was disqualified because I didn't read all the rules and one of them said I had to be a (KID) between the ages of 7-12! I was 55 at the time! That 2 headed sunflower was 25 feet tall and the stem was almost as big around as a soft ball! I had to plant a long wooden clothes line prop along side of it and tie the prop to the sunflower stem with lots of string, if I didn't do that, the big heavy heads would have bent down to the grown! Everybody came around to see it. After it all dried up, we had tons of big black and white striped sunflower seeds and everyone got some, that includes all the birds and squirrels too! I used some of those same seeds to plant more sunflowers and they all came out huge also but none came out 2 headed! I guess that was a once in a life time thing!
