Have you ever put something in the oven and then

forgotten about it? I just did. I was making some freezer hashbrowns for my daughter. Then I got busy with her baby bother. Diapers and bottles took a priority. A few minutes ago I remembered about them. Unfortunately, they were no longer recognizable as food. When was the last time you burned something in the kitchen?

It has been a long time since I have burned anything in the oven, but not too long ago I put a Betty Crocker Warm Delights brownie in the microwave for my husband. I THOUGHT I remember how long to cook it and set the timer for 5 minutes. When I took it out it was pretty well done to a crisp. There was a small hole in the center of the brownie where smoke was coming out making it resemble a chocolate volcano!

I burned some Totino's pizza rolls the other day. I totally forgot I put them in the oven. Good thing I got a big bag of them, so I could just throw some more in.

Well, I didn't put something in the oven but I DID put some eggs on the stove top to hard boil. I went back to work in my office and COMPLETELY forgot about the eggs. When I did remember, I went running upstairs and found that the water had all boiled away and the eggs had exploded. There were "egg parts" left in the pan and I had hard boiled egg splattered on the floor, on my cupboard doors, on the ceiling, on the ceiling fan... even out the doorway onto my pantry door LOL! What a mess to clean up :\ It wasn't funny THEN but it's definitely funny now. My daughters tease me about it all the time ;)

I most commonly do this with Sweet Potatoes. I tend to cook one when I am cooking something else and then leave it in the oven because it takes longer to be 'done right' according to my way of thinking. Too many potatoes have gone in the trash that way. (Fortunately, I turn the oven off, so it doesn't turn to charcoal, just gets forgotten and found the next time I use the oven.)

YES!!! And that´s why I love so much my little over the counter electric oven. I can ser the timer to stop when it shoulds. No need to lose a rated canasta at pogo to go check the food. Take care

I have left stuff in the oven to many times. My daughter called me recently, and I had a roast in the oven. We talked for 1 hours. I only ended the conversation when I smelled the roast burning.

I have burned some things in the oven before but it has been a very long time ago. I am not sure when the last time was that I did it though. It has been quite some time ago.

OOOhhh... the poor little hashbrowns!! Don't worry, it's understandable to burn something when you're kind of busy with other matters... Hmmmp... the last I burned something in the kitchen was last week, I think... I had placed a pan of chillies into the dry oven to dry out, so I could have ground chili powder... Later the next day, my mom and I whipped up a batch of cookies... and after we had mixed all the gooey stuff together, we heated up the oven to the desired temperature... all the way to 350 C!!! OOhhh, my... we had totally forgotten all about the chilies... So oven gets real nice and hot, and the smell of burning chillies fills the air!!! Waaah!! I extract a panful of not-so-yummy-looking BLACK burnt chilies!! Huhuhuhu... sooo bad!!! Anyway, we still continued on to bake the cookies... although Mom said, the chilies didn't taste sooo bad... Wahhh!!! I still didn't take any!!!! When in the kitchen--check all the places you're gonna put something in!!! That's one lesson I've learned!! Ciao!! =)
