Well Slap my Wrist and Call me Pagan! |
|
Several years ago when I first got online for more than "Hi, how are ya?" I signed up to a website because I liked their E-cards. I hardly used them though and frankly forgot all about them. Several days ago I received an email from them, the thrust of their message being:
"We want to show the world how important it is to be able to share the Christian faith and that starts with publicly declaring 'I am a Christian'. Sign the declaration today, and enjoy the freedom we have to call ourselves Christians.
Make your declaration now!"
Well I politely declined. I told them that as much as I enjoyed their E-cards, as a now practicing Wiccan, I couldn't participate in their 'public declaration' which entailed adding my name to their online mailing list and having it go who knows where all over the net.
I thought that was the end of it.............. The other day a friend sent me an E-card. And I thought........oh, cool, I'll send one back from the website I have bookmarked.
Well slap my wrist and call me Pagen, because I have now been BANNED from that E-card site! I couldn't get access. So I emailed the admin and this morning I received a terse reply:
"We regretfully inform you that we believe you joined our Christian site under false pretences. May God forgive you for your pagan ways. We can not."
Well needless to say, I've thinned out my bookmarks and made an offering to the Goddess that these 'Christians' one day understand that love and tolerance and understanding comes in many guises...........and not all of them through "Christian Soldiers"!
What's the last website you got banned from (besides mylot! lol)?

sparkofinsanity (3542) | 7 months ago | Hello Becca and welcome to the lot. All former Christians more than welcome, LOL Don't let what happened distress you. It takes all kinds of people to make up a world, and the best we can do is be the best we can be, and let the devil take the hindmost, as my gran used to say.

53. darkstormy1 (226) | 7 months ago | The things people claim to do in the name of god pretty ironic if one asks me. Myself speaking I am not religious although I am spiritual and believe the two things are completely separate one may be religious but this does not mean they will be spiritual the ones that are not true they do not seem to realize it is people such as these who do the most damage to any chance of people believing in anything the only thing I have to say is If there is a day of judgement I would like to be there for that to see some of their faces when they really see how it is for I can not believe in anyone anything to be filled with as much hatred and judgementals views as they claim but then that is just me

54. lumenmom (868) | 7 months ago | Being a Christian myself, I can understand the zeal they have for wanting to share their faith but I think they have gone overboard in their actions and in taking offense because someone does not believe as they do. Jesus welcomes all people and offers them the opportunity to accept him. He is not beligerant nor does He force Himself on people. Part of showing and sharing the love of Christ is the acceptance and forgiveness that we are able to bestow on mankind, knowing that God loves all people. It is with self righteousness that they ban you and then announce they cannot forgive you. That is not the way God or Jesus would have it to be.

55. angelwhispers30 (1907) | 7 months ago | LOL! Such a shame that they teach forgiveness, and then do something as childish as that.
I'm a spiritualist myself, but one of my closest friends is a Christian, and we have shared many discussions about what our beliefs are. Never have we ever tried to push or force our beliefs on each other or anyone else.
I just don't understand why a Christian website is being so unchristian.

sparkofinsanity (3542) | 7 months ago | Hello newlywed! Shouldn't you be tearing up the sheets and drinking champagne and eating strawberries dipped in chocolate or something? LOL Good to see you.
As for what happened with the site, I don't think they would ever view their behaviour as unChristian. Pagans have been and will continue to be anthema to them, and they feel within their rights to reject it. No skin off my nose really. To each his own..............

sparkofinsanity (3542) | 7 months ago | Hey Deepak..........well they didn't get my signature on their declaration. And since my banning I've found other sites with e-cards, so it's all good. I wasn't Wiccan when I joined, just a lapsed Catholic. lol That didn't seem to bother them. Guess they thought I was salvageable until I informed them I was now Wiccan. lol

57. cobrateacher (4263) | 7 months ago | Prejudice and bigotry come in many guises, too. A lot of people seem to think that being a Christian puts them somewhere above simple humanity!

TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 7 months ago | Hi Cobrateacher,
I believe I wrote about that in my Blog 'The Evolution of Religion' quite an interesting point where the foundation of the Church, Temple, Mosque, Synagogue all crumble. That leaves a personal spiritual belief unique to each individual.
See the pages of the texts all fly about overhead, landing in a new order, absent the bias.

58. Darkwing (7519) | 7 months ago | I got banned from a couple of social networks, not because I was pagan but because somebody was telling a sob story about how I'd treated them, and how upset they were about it. Well... excuse me, but there's two sides to every story and I was pretty hurt at what made me speak with them in the first place. I still am in fact; so much so, that I've put them behind me and moved on.
Ok... I have my views on these so-called "Christians" as well. A lot of Christians will tell you they understand and are sympathetic with your preferences, but it's oafs like the ones on your site who make it bad for the rest... and they exPECT others to follow them? Not me... I'm more than happy and comfortable with my own beliefs without having to follow a misinformed "shepherd". lol.
I'm sure you can find some equally pleasant pagan cards my friend. There are spiritual ones amongst them, which I'm sure will mean just as much to your friends. Brightest Blessings in love and light! xx

sparkofinsanity (3542) | 7 months ago | I guess they thought they could still 'save' me when I signed up a few years ago, but couldn't get shed of me fast enough when I admitted to now being Wiccan. No worries. Their loss, not mine. I never did hold with that particular brand of Christianity anyway, which in a way, steered me to the beliefs I now hold. And I've found some lovely pagen e-card sites, so I'm a happy little under the moon dancing fool these days! LOL
| |
|
|
Darkwing (7519) | 7 months ago | That's another thing that gets me... they always think they're "saving" you. It's a pity they don't know exactly "what" we are, or the majority of pagan people anyway. As you say... it's their loss. They have no idea what they're missing out on and much less idea of what our beliefs are all about, because they made it that way all those years ago.
Ah well! They can believe what they want. I know where I want to be and yes, there are some beautiful pagan ecards. Most of them have a lot of meaning to them too. Take care, my friend, and walk a happy, light path. xx

59. dismalgrin (758) | 7 months ago | Haha, How immature! I get told by my grandma "Well, I know you really are a Christian because you were when you were a child and once you make that choice you can't undo it." I just smile and nod with her because it's kind of cruel to blow that theory away! Haha.

| 60. canadiandreamsbig (87) | 7 months ago | WOW, How narrow minded can people get? I must say, as a Christian, I'm sorry you were treated so shabbily. I know, getting banned from a website isn't the end of the world. Getting banned like that is a little much, though. It's actions like that which have kept me out of church for the past several years. Long story there-one I'll share if asked, though. Jesus teaches love, acceptance and to treat others as you would like to be treated. That's the Jesus I follow. One of my best friends is Wiccan, formerly Christian and we have wonderful talks and great times together. I love her so much! IMO People make Christianity too complicated and are too narrow minded! God Bless, Hon! Oh, I've never been banned from a website either.;)
