Has a bat ever flown into your apartment at night? How do you deal with it? |
|
There have been a few times when bats flew into my apartment at night.
Just last night (June 23rd,09)at about ten thirty, a bat flew in and was flying and flying in my apartment without wanting to fly out. I used my fly pat to drive it away from my apartment for safety, but it would not fly away. Then I had to turn off the light and go to sleep leaving it alone in the apartment. When the light was off, it stopped flying. When I woke up this morning, I did not find it anywhere. I guess that it flew out of my apartment when the light was off.
I don't feel safe when a bat visits me in my apartment at night as it has sharp teeth. I don't want to get bitten by it.
Has a bat ever paid a visit to your apartment at night?
How do you deal with it?

The only time I've seen a bat was when I went into a couple of caves when I was on vacation years ago. Bats just aren't common where I live. I guess I'm just not very tough! I've had a wasp come into my apartment, and all night I was paranoid I was going to get stung. I closed my bedroom door and prayed that it was in my living room and hadn't got into my bedroom.: )

williamjisir (12943) | 6 months ago | In fact, I also got very nervous each time a bat flies into my apartment. Each time I was successful driving it away, but not this time. Speaking of wasps, I had myself stung by a wasp on the back neck in one hot summer when I was in my twenties. The bitten part on the neck was so painful and got swollen for a few days before it was back to normal...Take care, friend.

2. MAllen400 (222) | 6 months ago | Wow was it a big bat? I have only once had a bat come into the house. It came in and hit itself on the glass and luckily flew out again. I think my cats would think it was a bird and chase it if one did come in. Over here in England the bat is a protected animal so you cannot harm them or even move them on if one decided to live in your attic you would have to get the Councils permission to get it out!

williamjisir (12943) | 6 months ago | Hello MAllen. I did not know that you would have to get the Councils' permission to get it out. It sounds interesting to me, but I am wondering whether it is necessary to invite the Councils to come for help or whether they will offer help to invite the in-coming bat out for the one who needs help...Anyway I am glad to know this fact about a bat...Thank you, friend, for the response that I have learned something about the bat. Take care.

3. michaeldadona (3821) | 6 months ago | Hello William - so far I have never been visited by bat, and talking about bat there are many types of bat. I had learned about bat in 2005, where at night it use sonar-like-system to keep them flying safely and use smell sensitivity in looking for foods, especially fruits. But, there is one type of bat which is categorized under carnivores/carnivorous a.k.a vampire - a blood sucker bat which rely on blood.
Maybe the one visited your apartment was a stray bat which out of its flying group. Really sorry for not much can help in this case, and the only thing that I know is to use powerful electronic bat control which costs you around $50 and it operates on common household AC power outlet.

| 4. bsantora (17) | 6 months ago | I'm laughing really hard right now! (NOT @ U!)! I thought that I was the only one this has ever happened to, as I've never personally known anyone else, until now! When I moved into this house 1-1/2 years ago, the 3rd night I was here, a bat swooped over me in my living room! Being home alone with the windows all closed, I had no idea where it had come from. It flew around and around (i just "ducked") and then it disappeared. After a little while, it stopped flying around, I went upstairs to investigate and, as I thought, all of the windows were closed. This is an old house that has "holes" in it, around light fixtures and pipes especially, so I closed off the upstairs and opened the windows. I waited a couple of days (no one lived upstairs at the time) and then opened the doors. The bat was never to be seen again! I still don't know what "hole" it crawled out of, but it apparently didn't want to live with me any more than I wanted to live with it! (P.S) Where did YOU sleep when you left the bat "alone in the apartment?*wink*

williamjisir (12943) | 6 months ago | Welcome to myLot, bsantora. You are making me laugh really hard as well while reading your response because I did the same as you did. I mean, I have window screens and a door screen in my apartment, yet it still climbed in from somewhere I could not figure out.
As it is summer with hot weather, I sleep with my windows and door open, but I have those screens as mentioned. So I guess it might have left for the light outside from where it got in. That is the only reason I can figure out. lol
Thank you for your interesting response. Happy mylotting, friend.

| 6. aarthiseetharaman (27) | 6 months ago | This has happened to me when I was a kid. Bats use to come inside the house through the window/door. My mom was brilliant in handling this. She used to leave the door/window open switch of the lights in the room where the bat is and go to another room and after some time the bat would have gone. Its a belief that bats can see only in the dark. Am not sure whether it is the truth but it has worked out each time when we have tried.

It is good that you don't have a bat experience in your apartment, but a couple of doves doing their business at the veranda. I love doves as they symbolize peace. | 8. buggbrakey (5) | 6 months ago | That sounds nice. Bat's are fairly harmless on the whole, it probably freaked when you tried pushing it out. Try some window screen perhaps, and maybe a sonic device away from the home to make sure they attract there instead of your window!!

|
|
williamjisir (12943) | 6 months ago | Welcome to myLot, buggbrakey. I have window screens and a door screen as well. I think that it pushed itself in from somewhere that has a seam on the edge of window, through which some wires for the Internet connection come into my apartment. Take care, friend.
