Does it bother you when other people wear strong perfume or after shave?

LOL, so someone picked it out of the trash? They must have really loved the perfume. It does horrid things to me. I don't feel like it is right to expect others not to wear it ever, but in closed places or when around many others, there are bound to be those with serious allergies to it. Too bad they wouldn't just go a bit easy with it! Thank you for responding:)

Hi Grecy...I think even when one isn't allergic outright, terribly strong scents offend them, or like burn the nose and cause a lot of sneezing or even headaches. That seem to be very widespread. Thank you for your input:)

Hello Derek...I agree, we all have different preferences. I don't expect everyone never to use scent, just not close up around me when they know it triggers an asthma attack, which can be dangerous or even deadly. When I go out among others or to visit someone else, then it is my own responsibility to stay far away from those wearing scents. Thank you for your response.

LOL, another person made a comment about Raid, and oddly enough, I have thought the same of some of the cheaper scents. They DO smell just like bug spray. Those are the most offensive of all:D Thank you for responding.

I usually by the oils. Which never smell like RAID. Since i started selling avon i have bought a couple perfumes but they dont smell like RAID either.

I dont know what is up with thoses people that have the RAID smell. I mean do they not understand what they smell like? Do they think they are smelling good or what?

One day i was riding the city bus. There were 3 of us sitting in the back. This one RAID smelling woman came and sat near the back. She had alot on too. Everyone that way near her got up and moved to far away seats. One of the guys in the back started coughing then got up and opened the windows. This RAID woman had to of been deaf dumb and blind to not know what was going on around her.

LOL, perhaps she had no sense of smell at all! I have wondered the same things, though...do they not know at least how very strong their scent is? I know we have varying degress of sensitivity, so I can only assume that such people have a weaker sense of smell.:)

Well, i just wish someone would tell them how bad it smells so they will stop wearing it.

One of the oils i have my daughter does not like but other people tell me it smells like i fell into a batch of incense. I love incense so i dont mind that..

You've got the perfect solution, and I do the same in public places, but since my problem with scents is asthma related and actually a danger, I do request that my daughters or other regular visitors not wear it when they visit me in my own home:) Since they know the effects, they have no problem with that at all.

karen in your situation it is perfectly natural to request that people don't wear anything strong when visiting you, there is an extremely good reason for that request.
Actually in our own home we really can and should request people to abide by our requests.

Yes, we should, but I still feel bad when I have to make such requests. I know to some they seem trivial or invasive to their own rights and preferences, but it is necessary anyway. Thank you for your understanding comment.

Karen I am sure everyone that visits you will understand why you request that and will not see it as trivial. I am also sure that none of the visitors would like to find you having an asthma attack just because of their perfume.
I don't use strong perfumes as a rule - actually normally I use none - but when I visit my husband's aunt I always make sure that I don't wear anything strong at all- I actually change my regular deodorant to the crystal "no scent" one. I know that it is easy to trigger an attack and I wouldn't want to be the cause.

being thoughtful and attentive to how we affect others seems to have lost it's importance nowadays but I find it essential and one of the things that shows we've evolved as human beings.

I can do vanilla scents. They are very appealing and relaxing! I bet your whole house smells good after that bath:)

Pachulli, not sure of spelling, is one of the worst for me. And my youngest daughter loves it! To me, it smells a lot like insect spray. And yes, small closed-in places are the worst, as you get the full impact of a strong scent!

Oh yes, I keep a rescue inhaler with me at all times. As more the effects become more widely known, I hope that people do not feel discriminated against at the request NOT to wear scents on certain premises. One would think that if they knew it posed a real danger to some, it would be no problem for them to wash if off...unless they've "marinated" in it, as you said lol. Thank you for your response!
