Do you make a list when you go out on errands? shopping? |
|
Earlier whenever I stepped out of the house to buy some essentials for the house or do some errands like going to the post office, bank or paying bills etc; I used to forget one or two things and I had to link it with other things the next day and forget some other job. So now I make a list of all the jobs I have to do. I even make a list according to order, so that I can tackle jobs one at a time, going to the farthest place and then covering other places etc; This has really helped me in organising my day today activities. There is no question of forgetting certain jobs now. It is the same with shopping. I feel that making a list is very essential as it saves unnecessary expenditure if one sticks to one's list of essentials.
Friends plz share your thoughts on how you go about making things easier while shopping and going about your day today jobs?

1. dawnald (9175) | 5 months ago | It's all in my head unless I'm doing something special like buying for a new recipe. Most inefficient probably, but it usually works.

kiran8 (1082) | 5 months ago | Hi dawnald, as long as it works its alright, but mine doesn't lol, I forget the most important things sometimes and remember it the moment I step into my home. So now I have decided that it is better not to trust my memory..

2. clutterbug (823) | 5 months ago | You are very organized. I have to take a list with me to the grocery store, otherwise I am lost when I step through their doors. I pretty much stick to the list. I don't make any lists for household tasks, because to me the things I need to do stand out like a sore thumb, lol. I have certain days for dusting, certain days for ironing, and scrubbing the tub, etc. It works better for me.

3. peavey (3646) | 5 months ago | I wouldn't set foot in a grocery store without a list any more, either, and I do list places I have to go like the post office, bank, etc.
If I didn't have a written list, I'd never get things done! Not only does it help me organize my day, it helps me keep focused. Also, I like to cross things off when they're done. If I get everything done, then I have free time to spend as I like, without guilt.

kiran8 (1082) | 5 months ago | Hi peavey, Exactly my thoughts!I do the same as you do when I go out of the house. I even make a route plan so that I don't run around unnecessarily, and save time too...I have realised that I am able to accomplish a lot more that way..

4. change1life (1158) | 5 months ago | I keep a list throughout the week and when it is time to go shop I organize it in order of which stores have what items. I also look on my coupon sites and see if there are any coupons available for anything that I need. I actually have a notepad upstairs on my dresser and then downstairs I have a magnetic board on the fridge. I tell everyone, if you run out of something or you need me to pick something up, write it on the board so I can put it on my list. They do pretty good. I hate to get home from shopping and withing a couple of hours someone says, Oh, I forgot to tell you we needed so and so, I HATE THAT! I think having a list and organizing it according to stops is a very smart thing to do, especially when you are tryin got stick to a stricked budget! God Bless!

8. doryvien (801) | 5 months ago | I make list before going to the grocery or shopping mall, this helps me do my shopping faster and more efficiently. I also list down the prices, so I don't over-budget. I bring some extra money just in case I see something I want but is not included in the list.
At work, I start my day by making a things-to-do list. Then before the day ends I check the list again and if there things I wasn't able to do, I do them first on the day that follows.
Making a list keeps me on track of all the things that need to be done.

9. Poison_Girl (3310) | 5 months ago | Well, I noticed that when I would go grocery shopping or shopping for other essential things, I would tend to forget things. So, I've started trying to make lists. I'll add things to the list as I figure out I'll need them next time I go to the store and this will help me to not only remember to get them at the store, but it helps me to not forget to add them to the list, either. Know what I mean? I'm a pretty forgetful person, so I gotta go something to help me remember. LOL

10. chunijole (2865) | 5 months ago | I keep a list of grocery items so I don't forget to buy my food there. Its easy to forget certain things if I don't write them down. Plus it helps me not to overspend on unnecessary items. Lists are very useful to me.

| Loraden (49) | 3 months ago | No, if I do make a shopping list, I forget to take it with me. What I did make lists for is when my son used to show horses. I had lists taped to my vehicle and to my horse trailer so that when the weekend rolled around, I could just go over everything and make sure that everything we needed for a successful weekend without scrambling around for items that had been forgotten when they were taken out to launder or clean, as in tack and any thing that was a replacement item in case, was there at hand if needed. That way I wasn't running around trying to find replacement items in unfamiliar stores in strange cities, or from our group of parents and riders who were also attending the same function.
I used to do the same thing when traveling with the children in our holiday trailer during summer camping trips. I also taped a list to the outside of our first aide kit, and I checked off the items that I used from it as I used them so that I was never caught short the next time I needed it. I also had clothing and food lists as well as dishes, pots and pans and lists of things like bug spray and sun screen and a list of medications that any one traveling with us might be taking and how to administer them safely and who to contact in the case of emergency and what to do in the case of an allergy reaction to anything they were taking. This guards against ever forgetting something that I might not think important at the time of an emergency. Doctor's names and telephone numbers are also helpful in the event of an emergency.
