Hello ma'm I know from the beginning you posted this problem of yours and I got worried also. I haven't read your topics anymore for quite sometime thinking that you're already gone somewhere because you had been thrown out by your landlord. Suddenly you pop up with the feeling of happiness. Ohhhh thank God..I am really happy for you ma'm. Just don't be worried of tomorrow's problem because as what the Bible says, tomorrow has its own problem...let's enjoy the happy moment God give us today and don't worry for the next problem of tomorrow...Cheer up ma'm..I am really happy for you...

Hi that really is good news. If I were you though between now and then I would check the internet or go to a Citizens Advice place and see if there is a limit to how much he can put the rent up and things like that. Be armed with all the information when he talks next year.

Its really good news. I this one year try to save some. so that you can pay next year or see a new home next year. It will be good for the time being.

That is good that you are safe for now. Time will fly by though, and then you will be fretting again. You mentioned,"then the landlord said he couldn't leave because I told I couldn't find a place, and therefore my lease had to continue..."

So I take it this was only verbal? If you didn't actually sign a new lease, you only have the old lease that has expired. In other words that would be a month to month, and he could decide to pull it out from under you at any time.

Oh Gosh... I just thought.. what if some major repair had to be done? What if something happened such as water leaking over time causing a floor to rot.. say in the bathroom and the toilet fell through. That almost happened to us in our old house. We had a new floor put in and a new toilet put in. It was somehow leaking water into the floor. Luckily we have family that is landlords and pay to have everything fixed. Even at this house we are at now... it is also owned by family, so we don't have to worry. I don't have to worry about rent going up. It will always be the same.

I hope nothing major happens, because your apartment could get unlivable if he refuses to fix anything.

If you only have 3 months to look for a place next year you may run into the same problems and not be able to find a place. You will then probably have more than $100 hike in rent. I hope your landlord is as generous next year if need be.

pretty much the same thing, trying to keep up with the bills while hubby is out of work. he works in auto parts and it is hit the worst in this economy. I wish he works in different field we won't suffer as much push backs.
that's really good news your landlord finally comes to term. in our case if things don't get better soon we will have to sell the house or end up in shelter too.
I hope it will never get to that, but winter is coming soon and hydro/gas bills will rise again. I don't know if we will make it through next winter at all.

I'm very happy to hear your good news! I was thinking about you and wondering what was going on, but didn't have reliable internet connection for a few days now. (I HOPE that's over now.)

If I were you, I'd keep looking for a new place right now and not stop until I found one, because you'll have to face this all over again next year and, chances are, your landlord won't be as nice next year.

But, for now, I'm extremely happy to hear that that immense stress if off you! That's really awesome news!

As for me, I'm just exhausted. The weather has been mostly good for the past four days except for some drizzle and a couple of bad storms in two of those days, so I've been doing a lot outdoors. My youngest son's birthday was Monday but, since he had to work, we celebrated yesterday, even though it was cut short because of a party he had to go to last night plus a major storm that rolled through here. (He wanted to get home before the storm hit and get ready for his party with his friends.)

My youngest son came over on Tuesday and we went boating. Actually, the "boat" is an inflatable boat that supposedly seats four, although two adults fit comfortably. Anyway, he inflated it for me for the first time since I bought it last year and managed to get me into it and we went all around the lake; he rowed while I fished. We had a blast! He actually loved the peace and quiet and it was a lovely day. Not much wind, partly cloudy so it didn't get too hot, and the fish were biting.

Aside from that, I received a check in the mail from Social Security, although it was not the check I've been waiting for. This was a check reimbursing me for the mileage to and from the psyche evaluation the judge wanted. It was enough to buy my oldest son a nice gift, plus have his favorite dinner (which was more like a late lunch since he had that party later) of hamburgers on the grill, corn on the cob, potato salad and his favorite ice cream, butter pecan. I also found a butter pecan cake mix which I thought was pretty cool and made that. It tasted really good! Just like the ice cream only in cake form.

Let's see... anything else? Uh, no, except for the internet problems, plus my desktop getting ready to die. It's been pretty quiet, for the most part. Well, my cat has caught and killed at least 3 mice and 1 bird in the past week but I see that as 3 mice and 1 bird that won't be eating my fruits and veggies! LOL

that's great news, Winterose! That really is a stressful situation. I'm glad that your landlord compromised and you are able to relax and breathe deep for a bit. Just don't forget how quickly time flies and next year will be here before you know it. Maybe you should be keeping your ears open for a more affordable place. At least this buys you some time. Do you qualify for any rental subsidy? If so or if your not sure....now would be the time to check it out. Often times they will subsidize the place you are in but they will require the landlord to make some repairs if needed. best of luck to you.
