Where Do you Go For A Nice Inexpensive Cake In A Hurry?

I was inspired to get a cake for the 4th of July, for my husband and I. However, we didn't have a lot of time (I thought of it on the 3rd) and we dind't want to pay a lot of money for it. I coudln't think of where to go at first, but then I remembered a little bakery right near my optometrist's office. The lady did wedding cakes!! I thought if she was talented enough to do wedding cakes, why not a 4th of July cake?
We're in Canada. I'm Canadian, my husband's American, and we celebrate both holidays.
I went to the store, and told her what I wanted. She made a beautiful cake, which I picked up the next day, and only paid $16.50 for. It was not the smallest one (she suggested a slightly larger one for the flag and "happy 4th of july" on it, and she was right!), and it cost extra for her to draw the flag. All that was included in the price. I thought it was great. It also has mocha icing on it.
Hubby's about to go dish some up for us now, and make a nice pot of coffee. YUMMY!!!
So, do you have a little place to go if you need cake or baked goods in a hurry?

No, the place is a bit of a walk away. Also, they need like a day's notice, unless you want to take what they have in the store. I wish I had a place like you do. How was the cake?

Our place needs a day's notice too. Since we're in Canada, July 4th isn't a holiday, so I was able to go get it this morning, and bring it home. They have nice ones in the store for people who just want a birthday cake or something, but they custom design cakes for people like us who want something a little more personal.

I usually go to the portuguese bakery. It' s not very far from us and the best part the cakes are exactly ( well almost ) like the ones back home and also the ones we really like.
But sometimes we want something even faster and we have been known go to the supermarket and get one - on occasion.

I usually bake my own, but the Cookie Lady bought out the Muffin Factory and I know I can get all kinds of beautiful and creative items there, for a reasonable price. She now sells mixes from the Muffin Factory. The people who started it had some health issues, she had a much smaller location. It worked well for them both.

Yes. There are a couple of places that I can go to. I can go to the JayC store and get one already mad. I can also go to Walmart and they have some made up there too. If all else fails, I can get an ice cream cake at Dairy Queen.
