What kind of toys do you buy for your kids? |
| |
| I like buying toys for my kids, I use it as a reward for a job well done, either in school, for helping at home, or for doing kindness to others. Before I buy toys, I ask question like, do my children like it or do I like it for them?, Is it appropriate for their age? Can I afford it, is it good for them? I don't buy them toy guns, sword and other toys that encourage fighting or connote violence. I do ask them what they want, but I have the last say which ones to buy. How about you, what kind of toys do you buy for your kids? Or what kind of toys do you give as gifts to kids? Do you let them decide and buy what ever they like? How do say no when you think it's not good for them? | | | | | |

| | Hot Wheels is a favorite among kids, my kids love them too. Toy cars never fail to amaze boys, small and big boys alike LOL. Indeed moms can be very creative when it comes to their kids. That's a very good rewards system you got there, it's both motivating and exciting. Thanks for sharing and happy myLotting! | | | |

| | Smart choices of toys, I must say. It must be fun to have a daughter - I have 2 kids, both boys, 10 and 6 yrs old. When going to a toy store sometimes I have the urge to buy girls' toys like dolls, dollhouse, vanity kit and the likes. I'm happy though that my kids don't like these stuff - their dad is gonna have a heart attack if they do LOL. | | | |

| | I have a five year old daughter and even if she loves ben 10 a lot, i still don't buy her ben 10 icons. Instead, i buy her barbie dolls, kitchen and house for her barbie dolls as well. I would also like to enhance her thinking capability by buying her some educational stuffs, like speed stacks, stockable stocks, and other lego products. | | | | | | |

| | Hi,My kids have Ben 10 toys, they like the series on TV and they love the toys too. I'm just curious, is the reason you don't want Ben 10 for your daughter is because she's a girl and you don't think it's appropriate for her, or do you think Ben 10 is not a good character? Thanks for sharing. | | | |

| | well buying toys for kids for what ever reason is not a bad idea in any way,as a matter of facts i will encourage you to keep it up,but i do not completely quite agree with you,for you to have the final say in thier discision, for this reason some time you will amaze at what discision they will end up with when you give them a free hand. Though some times when you give them free hands they will always be kids in thier descision, but by doing so it will help them develop well and you could start shaping thier mind for the future, because in life any thing you do is all about discision, thats is why when they make a bad choice you can let them see reasons why they shoul not make that choice because its such a bad one and the implecation that goes with it,and if the choice is not carrying a heavy implecations you could let them be knowing well that in the end it will backfire so that with the end result you can teach them the practical aspect of live. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Ebinum, Thanks for sharing your thoughts, appreciate it. Yes I do let my kids decide which toys they want to have, but I have the last say because of the budget, sometimes they want something that's really expensive, and we can't afford it at the time when they want to have it. When this happens I tell them they can have it next time, and again as a reward for a good deed. Happy myLotting. | | | |

| | Hi Kapitu, Yes my kids are crazy about transformers, my younger son has been telling me indirectly that he wants to have a really big transformer (it's quite expensive). I told him he can have it after the midterm exams, which is gonna be on August... I think there are more choices of toys for girls than there are for boys, and you have a great choice for girls' toys. | | | |

| | Buying toys for kids is a job that every parent like to do. It naturally depend on their age and their liking as parents are the appropriate judges in judging the moods and character of their child. It is preferable to always get them toys that help them to think constructive gives them knowledge. There are lot of such toys available in the market these days. Children do safeguard some of their favourite toys till their are old enough and keep recollecting their childhood days. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Yogambal, Welcome to myLot! You're right. There are so many choices when you go to stores but normally kids already have in mind the things they want for themselves even before going there. I can see as early as now that my kids do take care of their toys and that they will outgrow them but still keep them for good memories when they become adults. Thanks for sharing. | | | |

| | Hi Sridivya, Welcome to myLot! Oh yes, teddy bear is a classic but still well-loved by kids. It never goes out of style, and even when it has evolved in many characters and forms now, it has maintained it's status as kid's best friend particularly during bed time. Adults love them too. | | Recently, my aunts kids birthday has come up. So I went to a toystore to purchase gift items to the kids. I normally purchase cars or trains as gifts but this time, I tried to be unique in gifting a monopoly or word game. This will enhance their knowledge and also socially mingle with other kids. Guns and other violent toys are temporary as they get attracted to them by watching movies. | | | | | | |

| | Hi tskmjk, Monopoly and other word games is a good choice, it helps improve kids' vocabulary and develops social skills. And yes, it's unique in the sense that you deviate from what one would think should be given to kids. I'm sure they had fun playing with it. Thanks for sharing and happy myLotting! | | | |

| | well i am a bachelor... if i have a kid , the first important thing is let them grow freely with our guidens. its good to ask them what they want and to discuss with them ,is it good for her/him. but the main thing is that never force them to use that toys which we like. let them decide. according to me buying a toy like gun and sword wont make a child to go in the way of violence, but by buying those toys if we try to make them understand what a real gun or sword can cause in ones life they will understand its for sure. | | | | | | |

| | Hi gager, Welcome to myLot! I agree, kids should be given the freedom to choose the kind of toys they want, but in my case, since it has a impact on my budget too, I have to consider if I can afford it as of yet...On your view on giving toy guns and swords to kids - that is another way of looking at it, to make them understand how it can be useful and at the same time how it can be destructive when used indiscriminately. Good point there. Thanks for sharing. | | | |

| | Hi anonymousagent, Yes, although generally kids love toys, the toys that we choose for them should be appropriate for their age so they may fully appreciate and enjoy it. We also have to consider their safety, hence for babies soft toys are the best, while toy car or bike can be given to toddlers and older kids. | | | |
