Microsoft and Yahoo are partners now?

This is an interesting development, though I am not very impressed with Bing.

I admire you for being observant and find time reading the news. The implication of that partnership is for the customers like you and me to benefit from the business competition from these two giants - google and microsoft. I hope that another giant will come out and compete with google and microsoft. Why not someone start another like these two?

Yes you are right, but this is just deal for internet search with Yahoo ( the second biggest Search engine after Google). Of course this will help Microsoft in long run, but I don't think they can override Google any ways. Google is very big giant in Search engine, even though Yahoo is second largest but is still far away from Google. I am not sure but majority of people rely on Google rather than Yahoo or any other search engine.

The same way, Google had tuff competition again Microsoft in softwares, like they are making a new Operating system, but Microsoft rules Operating System market. Both are Gaint in their own markets, and will give really tuff competition to each other. Lets wait and watch who wins.

I think competition is a healthy thing, especially on the internet. We may just get better products out of this. I need a really good search engine, which is why I never used Yahoo--too many bells and whistles that I didn't need like maps and reviews of restaurants, etc. I'm not the casual searcher, I search because of writing articles and I just want a no-frills informative search engine with no pop up ads, peel away ads or extraneous information.

Maybe they'll give us a search engine that pays us a fraction of a cent for each search that is truly valid? I have one now that gives me points that I can turn into gift certificates but I'm only 1/10 of the way to my first even though I do about 25-50 searches a day, valid searches for researching articles.

I also heard the above mentioned news but overtaking Google is not at all easy thing and for me, its impossible to do it. Google has become synonymous with search engine and in India, searching means Googling which became a word in their daily parlance. Very less people have known about Bing and if I mention Bing search engine, they would ask me whether its Bingo (a popular food snack in India). Thats the popularity of Bing. Googles USP are its simple interface powered by awesome searching power. Bing is just showy and doesnt fit into the class of common search engine. Microsoft and Yahoo can just try to acquire some share but cannot outclass Google. THATS IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Woah! Really? Talk about major technological warfare. That is definitely something. I mean, Microsoft is the biggest if not the number one brand in electronics that most people trust and actually buy, even if other people can get the same product that Microsoft offers somewhere for free. For me, Yahoo is in second place in terms of search engine service, among other things. Now, that the two(Microsoft and Yahoo) are "joining forces", so to speak, would they be successful in their quest to thwart Google from its throne? Or are the people has established a sense of loyalty for the brand of Google.?

As to who will become victorious, guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Healthy competitions will bring more options with improved quality. Better for the world.

I've actually read a lot of bad articles and reviews about Microsoft's Bing. It doesn't surprise me that they've partnered, Microsoft has a slice of everything these days including Dooyoo, Slicethepie, Ciao and much more.

Well I am kind of glad I am not a google buff.I like Yahoo alot better. So lets hope that it works.

They've been hinting about this for a while. Personally, I don't care one way or the other. I suppose I should, but I don't. Just as I'm a Mac user, I also don't use a mainstream search engine. (I use Winzy.)
