Microsoft and Yahoo are partners now? |
|
I just want to share this shocking news (at least for me, it's a bit shocking). This article from Yahoo Tech website explained it all - Microsoft and Yahoo are now partners with the goal of kicking Google out of internet dominance.
This is the link for the article: http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/20090729/ap_on_hi_te/us_microsoft_yahoo
This is quite exciting, especially with the fact that Microsoft's Bing.com http://www.bing.com is getting a lot of positive reviews.
I also learned from this article that Google is battling Microsoft for computer software dominance (read this on the lower portion of the article).
http://tech.yahoo.com/news/ap/20090729/ap_on_hi_te/us_microsoft_yahoo What do you think of this news?

kdmlrys (257) | 6 months ago | Same here. In fact, I don't even use Bing. I just happen to read some positive feed backs from a forum regarding this new Microsoft search engine. I must say I'm still a big fan of Google.

niitesh (863) | 6 months ago | Search engine might come and go but google will always remain the favorite as it is user friendly and gives the best results. I hav been using the internet prolifically for the last four years but i seldom have used an other search engine besides google not even yahoo,so google is the best for me.

gloamglozer (655) | 5 months ago | I don't like Bing either. I can't ever imagine any search engine that could ever be able to replace google. Bing seems to take a step in the right direction by not loading it's front page with ads but google has never done that. Bing still has a long way to go.

kdmlrys (257) | 6 months ago | I totally agree. Google had contributed a lot of internet applications that many users loved. Not to mention Adsense and Adwords. It must be hard to turn away from Google just in case this Microsoft and Yahoo partnership will come up with something better.

4. dragon54u (9768) | 6 months ago | I think competition is a healthy thing, especially on the internet. We may just get better products out of this. I need a really good search engine, which is why I never used Yahoo--too many bells and whistles that I didn't need like maps and reviews of restaurants, etc. I'm not the casual searcher, I search because of writing articles and I just want a no-frills informative search engine with no pop up ads, peel away ads or extraneous information.
Maybe they'll give us a search engine that pays us a fraction of a cent for each search that is truly valid? I have one now that gives me points that I can turn into gift certificates but I'm only 1/10 of the way to my first even though I do about 25-50 searches a day, valid searches for researching articles.

I agree, in fact, this is one of the things I'm thinking about this recent partnership. In case they won't conquer Google, at least they will strive to create better products for internet users.

5. tskmjk55 (482) | 6 months ago | I also heard the above mentioned news but overtaking Google is not at all easy thing and for me, its impossible to do it. Google has become synonymous with search engine and in India, searching means Googling which became a word in their daily parlance. Very less people have known about Bing and if I mention Bing search engine, they would ask me whether its Bingo (a popular food snack in India). Thats the popularity of Bing. Googles USP are its simple interface powered by awesome searching power. Bing is just showy and doesnt fit into the class of common search engine. Microsoft and Yahoo can just try to acquire some share but cannot outclass Google. THATS IMPOSSIBLE!!!

kdmlrys (257) | 6 months ago | That's true! I even heard a line from the show C.S.I. saying "Google it!" It was blurted out by one of the show's cast. Nowadays, Google is like the shorter term for "search online".

kdmlrys (257) | 6 months ago | Personally, I'm NOT taking sides on this one.
I love Microsoft for some of their computer softwares (Bill Gates is also one of my life heroes). I love Yahoo for bringing recent news and media for internet users to enjoy. I love Google for their search engine and some of their web applications.
I believe it's not about dominance. What matters to me are the efficiency of these companies' services.
As long as they provide useful products, I'll just keep on supporting them, regardless of who or what is number 1.

8. android (320) | 6 months ago | I've actually read a lot of bad articles and reviews about Microsoft's Bing. It doesn't surprise me that they've partnered, Microsoft has a slice of everything these days including Dooyoo, Slicethepie, Ciao and much more.

kdmlrys (257) | 6 months ago | Well it's opposite for me. I actually read some positive reviews about Bing. However, the negative reviews won't vanish so I guess I'll accept that.
