I like to be frugal and this applies to shopping food items. So I buy only the necessary from farmer's market. I would make a list of all necessary items and would shop for them. Recently, I found that I have been avoiding nuts altogether.I know they are rich in antioxidants and taking a handful is beneficial for health. Do you buy nuts and comsume them on a regular basis?

We buy nuts when they are on sale or if we need them for a recipe. I need to eat them more but they just dont fit in the budget that easy. I know I should adjust my budget so I can fit healthy stuff in it but it is hard to pay everything and still have enough left over.

True! Foods are expensive and most of us try to buy only the needed.

Yes I do, I have two little boys and I find myself feeling guilty if I do not buy them some fun snacks once in a while. At least nuts have nutritional value compared to chips so I usually opt to buy nuts instead

I too have two little boys. But one is just 6 months and have not reached the age of eating nuts. My elder son does not like nuts except few cashews. I also avoid buying chips as most contains MSG.

We are fortunate enough that my soon to be SIL has a pecan tree in her yard. We have two grocery store bags full of pecans from her tree. I only really see whole nuts at the grocery store during the holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving. They will start to sell them by the pound then. The smaller commercial bags of nuts that are whole I will bypass them completely. They are way too expensive. Normally a bag of whole walnuts for example is anywhere from 5 to 7 dollars for 14 oz. That is tooo rich for my blood. I do buy cans of salted nuts from the dollar stores at times though.

I am not sure how much 14oz of walnuts really is. In our place, it is 18 S$ per kg. It comes to 12US$ per kg. Usually nuts are expensive. I think it is one way to make sure people do not eat too much.

I shop for many food items, one of them being nuts. I usually like almons, walnuts and pistacchio. I like raisins and dates too. I eat them on a regular basis.
