Racist Double Standard of the Left...  email this discussion to a friend?

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics 3 years ago

For 8 years, many of Prs. Bush's opponents called him "The Chimp". There were tons of charicatures representing Bush as a chimpanzee.

Now, I have nothing against political cartoons. Political satire is as old as print itself. I know my own brand of satire is offensive to some.. that's ok.

However...

What would be the reaction from the hypocritical left if someone depicted Obama as a chimp?

Well I can tell you exactly what the reaction will be " it's racist". Bush gets depicted as chimp that is ok. But Obama....all heck would break loose.
Let's face it...the media and just about everyone has to treat Obama will kid gloves when it comes to how they choose to critize him for fear of being called a racist. What was ok for past presidents will not be ok for this one.
Heck I have been called racist just for disagreeing with his policies. So am I sexist for disagreeing with Pelosi? That would kinda hard comparing I am a woman.

But you can bet the liberals will be looking for ways to twist any negative comments or political cartoons into "racism" to shut any decenting voices up.

Well it's already happened. I'm sure you remember that dumb cartoon that was printed after that poor woman was mauled by a chimp. It had to cops standing over the dead chimp saying "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill". People SCREAMED racism. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the other poverty pimps were out in force. People here on mylot were calling it right wing racism. All the people involved in that of course were just too stupid to realize that Obama didn't write the stimulus bill. People were just so desperate to scream racism they didn't care.

myLot reputation of 83/100. lilwonders456 (3526)   ranked 34 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

That was an example of them using the presidents race to cover the whole party.
The cartoon was basically about the fact that the stimulus bill was so bad it could have been written by a chimp. Which I feel was accurate. But that did not critize the president. It was critizing Pelosi and Reid. But the democratic party has been playing the race card on every issue they can. Even if it does not apply to the situation. And they will continue to.

I was actually just thinking about this same sorta subject, I personally would not call it racist. I was very curious why so many conservatives were upset when people could call Bush "Dubya" (is that right?) but, continue to call Obama with a zero instead of an "O". It's all very interesting. But, maybe Obama supporters should get very upset if a chimp cartoon came out just to throw the shoe on the other foot.

myLot reputation of 60/100. Taskr36 (6782)   ranked 284 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

It already happened months ago. The chimp cartoon wasn't even about Obama yet the left screamed racism over and over again and caled it a right wing hate machine and all that crap.

http://www.huffingtonpost...

Note that if Bush had been president, nobody would be writing articles about race.

myLot reputation of 48/100. sndcain36 (2691)  3 years ago

So the left disrespects Bush for 8 years and it's okay but when someone disrespects 0bama the left is supposed to get angry to "put the shoe on the other foot"?

Your logic escapes me. The shoe is already on the other foot and the left doesn't like it. They are getting a taste of their own medicine but the ironic thing here is 0bama isn't that different from Bush at all and in many many ways, is much much worse.

I'm shocked Taskr, the Huffington Post? LOL You refreshed my memory, I sorta remember that. But, ya know in all honesty, if you look at Bush and Obama's ears, they do look like chimp ears. They both have ears that stick out just as chimps ears do.

People are so ridiculous and hypocritical, I agree. No matter what party you are from, most times with race you have to watch what you say. The problem for me is that most black people claim they want equality (which I think a lot of them in organized countries already have) and they want everyone to drop the race "issue," yet they are the first ones hollering and screaming when they think ANYTHING can be perceived as racist, even if it wasn't meant to be. Also, isn't it racist to have affirmative action and Black Miss America Pageants, among other things?

I don't care who you are or what color you are. I wish there never was such a thing as "race." We are all humans, and it might be cliche to say, but it's true.

I think because African Americans have been called very deplorable things over the last few centuries, "monkey" and "ape" being some of them, that any satire bulking Obama into that category will not go over well.

I think in the event of W, it does, as they are referring to his chimp like capabilities of doing as he is told with rarely much thought behind it.

If people want to suggest Obama is a bad president, they can draw a brick, or something that has not had past racial meaning to it.

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

But that isn't how it is, is it. Obama has made demands on what is off limits, and the incompent press has not only bowed to him, but defended it.

Any insult towards Obama is twisted into a racial slur. The sad part is, Obama himself is as racist as they come.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

I think too many hands are in the pot. This is a pivotal time for America, having a Black president, so many will instantly say negative comments on his work are racist in some way.

You say Obama himself is racist. What drew you to that conclusion? I am grateful that he went on a no on 8 campaign, saying such a campaign is divisive.

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

First of all, he attended a racist, Anti American church for 20 years. You don't sit in a pew saying "Amen" to the racist crap spewing from Rev. Wrights gob for that long unless you agree with what he's saying.

He believes that opportunity for people should be based on the race of the person. He is the antithesis of Rev. Martin Luther King's "I had a dream" speech. In his warped mind, poverty among White people is somehow better than poverty among Black people.

I found a youtube video of Reverand Wright and agree with what he has to say. I have to do more research, but this video is designed to be anti-Obama, and it swayed me in his favour.

There was nothing terrible with what he said, he is just disappointed in a country that mistreats its own citizens, and goes and bombs people without batting an eye.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hPR5jnjtLo

This election was hard for me to focus on Obama; I am relieved a democrat is in the house, though I would prefer the green party. I spent most of the election protesting against prop 8, and am thankful that Obama went on record stating how wrong it was. Very non-discriminatory of him to do.

The stuff about him being a racist is hogwash.

myLot reputation of 48/100. sndcain36 (2691)  3 years ago

Wright reprinted Hamas propaganda in his church bulletin. The church IS racist and embraces a victim mentality. A true Christian church wouldn't be focused on race and wouldn't promote terrorism.

Which is why religion and politics should be separate.

That said, I will read through this site, and thank you for posting it. In looking at it now, nothing is directly linking to the pastor or his writings. What I have hear is second hand information and decorated a certain way.

I want first hand information, directly from the source. Can you find something?

Imagine a white pastor saying the crap coming out of that hate mongers mouth.

And finally, the fact that you agree with a racist doesn't make the racist not a racist. It just means that you agree with the racist.

Every religion for some reason hates the Jews.

That's completely untrue. American Christians in particular are very good friends to the Jewish people.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Er, I agree that the black population in America was done wrong, some several centuries ago. I believe, too, that the poorer people in America are not white, as a direct result of what happened two hundred years ago.

I think that, had we done right then, and eradicated white on black racism long ago, there would not be people calling our current president a racist. Had we achieved equality long ago, none of this would be going on, nor would any ethnic cleansing be going on anywhere in the world.

If a white man said that the blacks had it bad, I would agree. I don't think the reverand is saying to damn america in a literal sense. I think he is saying that state of the union is not a pretty one, and it needs work.

That does not mean attack Israel, it means, we need someone with some scruples and some intelligence to run our country.

The "them Jews" comment came from a third party reporting on him. It could have been taken out of context.

Do you have anything with the reverand speaking directly? Like how about the Darfur press release thing?

You seem to know that all American Christians love jews, blacks, and gays, which I find even more interesting.

As we know, there are people who hate and tend to be racist, but while wearing the cross.

myLot reputation of 48/100. sndcain36 (2691)  3 years ago

So all American Christians are skinheads now?

Wow, your world is very tiny isn't it....

myLot reputation of 48/100. sndcain36 (2691)  3 years ago

And your point? Because anyone can call themselves a Christian because there isn't a test so by your logic everyone who calls themselves a Christian must be a racist skinhead?

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

I see how you like to play. You generalize and take things said by Reverand Wright out of context, but when given a fact, such as all hate related crimes in America were mostly committed by white god-fearing folk, you then say I generalize, whereas you are now generalizing that not a one skinhead believes himself to be a good holy christian.

The majority of self-admitted racists tend to have a cross around their neck. Was it not the KKK who burnt crosses in honour of god right before they had themselves a hanging?

myLot reputation of 48/100. sndcain36 (2691)  3 years ago

My knowledge of Christians and Christianity quite obviously outpaces yours as evidenced by your ridiculously narrow minded and bigoted statements.

myLot reputation of 48/100. sndcain36 (2691)  3 years ago

All generalizing in this conversation has been done by you. Try rereading what you posted.

myLot reputation of 48/100. sndcain36 (2691)  3 years ago

I never once said that skinheads didn't believe themselves to be Christian. I have no control over what people call themselves. You are the one who generalized that Christians are racist. You are exhibiting an ignorant bias while excusing ignorant bias in a man who should KNOW better as a disciple of Christ shepherding a flock. I have no patience for those in a position of spiritual authority who abuse that authority for political or monetary gain. My condemnation of Wright is no different than my condemnation of ANYONE who claims to speak for God and then spews racist garbage.

I am just not so ignorant to think that EVERY black person thinks like Wright as you seem to think all white people belong to the KKK.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

You said American Christians are good friends to the Jewish people. How many American Christians bum-rushed Aushwitz and freed the Jews during the nazi war? Do you know how many American Christians voted away a fundamental right of a minority in California this year? 52%.

I find that appalling, that 52% of people who consider them holy and built in god's image are still so hateful and bigoted. Go to some of the southern states. An interracial relationship is still socially unacceptable.

This, all coming from American Christians.

myLot reputation of 48/100. sndcain36 (2691)  3 years ago

Just in case you missed it: here is your incredibly bigoted, ignorant and biased generalization:

American Christians hang confederate flags and swaztickas in their houses. They tend to hate the jews and anyone non Wasp-y.

You have shown a stunning lack of intelligence with that one single statement and I have a feeling I won't find a challenging or interesting discussion with you in it.

Have a nice life.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

I never said all white people belong in the KKK, but those that are, consider themselves to be christian.

I have often said that religion can be used as a weapon of mass destruction, but it seems, in your case, you will only apply that to those who oppose judeo-christian beliefs, but if anyone waged war on an islamic group, i think you would find a holy way to justify it.

I did not read, first hand, that reverand wright wants a terrorist war. I read strategic propaganda, and would like to see something directly from the reverand himself. All I found was that youtube video, which was supposed to be very anti-obama, but it was not terrible.

It was self-empowering. It said that African Americans were done wrong in the past. It did not say, let's get together and fly a plane into Israel as you would have us believe.

Is befriending the jews the new trend amongst all religions now? Religion has no place in politics. Or on our planet.

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

"White man's greed runs a world in need".

If that isn't racist to you, there is no hope for you.

Rev. Wright condemned the US for the attacks of 9/11. Isn't that a lot like condemning a woman for being raped?

Who doesn't hate the Jews? ME! Sad that you have to even ask. Does that mean YOU hate Jews too?

myLot reputation of 95/100. OpinionatedLady (1938)   ranked 113 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Now one of you said that you do not believe that There are as many poor white people out there. I beg to differ. Our media makes jokes of these people instead of asking for an out poor of sympathy. The rednecks, hill billies and other mountain folk are laughed at for their poor life style while the media cries for help of the other nationalities. I ask you to take a drive in the Appalachians and tell the white folk who are still using hand pumps for water and out houses how the blacks in the city who have running water and sewers are poorer then them. New Orleans is not the only place that has had bad flooding over the last few years, but they had the media. The mountains had bad flash floods that ran from the northern tip in Pennsylvania down through Tennessee, a much larger area, but these where mostly white folks whose homes where washed away, there where no celebrities bringing water, or food, or support at all (save the saints of the Red Cross). Now those folks in New Orleans had it bad and it was good they got help but it would have been nice if the White folks who are poorer then the dirt they walk on had a little help too. I have volunteered at a WIC office and seen these people come in with out shoes even. One inventive lady had socks with duct tape on the bottoms as soles. Babies in hand me downs that are thread bare, young children in obvious need of health care, almost all of every age missing teeth. Just because the media doesn't trumpet them doesn't mean they aren't there.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

I think that is indeed very saddening. The media tends to favour certain things, ie, Michael Jackson's death to Farrah Fawcett's. Not necessarily a black vs white thing, just a little bit of a weird shock vs something expected, but equally as devestating.

I think poverty sees no colour, but enslaving a group of people and then waiting until the 1960s to allow equal rights, would certainly give that race of people a severe disadvantage.

Perhaps, if Americans spent the last 200 years working together, and if the world did for that matter, all the money wasted on hate crimes, and hateful campaigns, would have been put to better use saving those in our own back yard, regardless of ethnicity.

A lot of hate is taught, and sadly, spread through churches. That is how it was in the olden days. Our own declaration of independence was written by slave owners. It's hard to think good christian people would own slaves.

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Unfortunately, about the same time the equal rights were recognized, a new breed of bigotry and slavery was born. That of teaching poor people that they shouldn't have to provide for themselves, their men shouldn't bother providing for their wives and kids, and the government can take care of everything for them.

Slave states, Jim Crow laws and KKK grand wizards worked to deprive minorities of their rights... The current Racism Inc. have done something far more sinister... they have convinced people to trade their rights for handouts.

If there isn't a special place in hell for such bigots, the place has no reason to exist.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

The assumption that every member of a minority looks for a handout is somewhat bigoted in and of itself. I think, with any person of any race, if you don't go out and get a job, you are not really contributing to your society. No one likes loafers, but, also, certain people have strains and limits which is why the welfare system among others were created. To help everyone have a chance at a life on this planet.

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Read it again, I never said that all members of any minority or "the poor" accepted the lesson, I only said that the bigots in Racism Inc. taught the lesson.

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Yes, there are people who have limitations, and we have done our society a huge disservice by teaching families and friends that the infirm and disabled among us are the government's responsibility. It is so bad that many people actually pity the family members who take care of disabled family members and friends... they use those family members as examples of why the government should take the place of family responsibility.

They actually believe that it is the role of government, not family and friends, to help the poor, disabled and infirm. If family actually does help, they consider those people "put upon" for it.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

It is the responsibility of the government to help its citizens who can't do for themselves. That is what happens in a civilization. You are only as strong as your weakest link, and if someone is disabled, yes, the family will be there, but they, too, are entitled to a full life, and should be granted the same benefits someone able-bodied is.

Seriously, though, in terms of America doing for black people who were held as slaves and then discriminated against until the CRM, this great country of ours called the United States of America has done far more than any other nation on the face of the planet to make up for past sins. We continue to do more for other nations' downtrodden as well.

And while it is not the government's responsibility to do for people, do they have. Even still, the doing is never good enough for some.

At some point, it's the job of the individual to take over.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

I am sure if you or a family member wind up with a debilitating circumstance, you won't care if our constitution does not state verbatim that a government is meant to do what a citizen can not.

The only things that come from a mob mentality are either war and division, OR, on the polar opposite, equality, and people being given the same chances in life.

A sad truth about our govment is that three in every four homeless men are veterans. And that is how we treat our war heroes. If you are going to tell me that we treat those we once hung for walking on the same sidewalk as us better than we treat our war heroes, with all the govment cheeze that goes their way (very little mind you), you are obviously mistaken.

If I were born without an arm, I would learn to use my one arm and my legs more. My government should be there to offer a prosthetic limb, and that way, they spend less on my day to day caretaker, because I would have two hands, like everyone else.

A handup is much different than a hand out, and for anyone to ask why calling a black man a chimp would be considered racist, desperately trying to paint Obama and his cabinet in a negative way, is rather insulting, and outright stupid.

myLot reputation of 95/100. OpinionatedLady (1938)   ranked 113 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

So the black people had bad stuff done to them for generations in this country, as did the native Americans and Asians. SO for the sins of our fathers or in my case (my family wasn't all here yet for90% or more of it) I have to suffer their sins because of my skin color. (or what it is perceived to be as I am mixed race but look all white) Yup here it is the double standard that this discussion is based off of.

please excuse the typo of your name, it wasn't intentional.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

It was a funny typo, though, and I was about to give you mad props for it.
1. You never cease to amaze me either. I work two jobs, and freelance at other things, averaging about four hours of sleep a night. I have never accepted government assistance, nor would I ever, despite my amassing medical debt. I am far too proud.
2. People called W a chimp, implying his intelligence level was less than that of a fifth grader. He can't pronounce everyday words, ie, "nuc-u-lar" a la Homer Simpson. He was very militant, rushed us into a deadly war, and has made very poor decisions as the leader of our country. Need I remind everyone of the Bush family ties with not only the Bin Laden family, but also the CEO of Enron?3. Calling a black man a "chimp", even if he is a lousy president, would only make a moot point, if the intention is to suggest he is not intelligent or fit to run the country. Find another name to call him, as the word "chimp" has its own precedent, along with the words, "spook", "monkey/gorilla" and "racoon", as racially charged words. Calling him a chimp, when others think he has a go card, because he is a black man, only ignites the wrong fire. Find a non racially targetting description, and no one will accuse you of being a racist. Simple as that.
4. I have said before that poverty, like death, supports everyone's troops, regardless of religion, race, creed, gender, sexuality, etc. The blacks, natives, asians, jews, gays, women, muslims, latinos, and other minorities have had it bad in this country. Even white people, too.
You can draw a line: A white man in the year 1800 was never deprived of anything. He went through his education, got a job, and passed on his legacy and inheritance some 4-6 generations down. A black man in the year 1800 was brought from his own country in chains, became our property, was forcibly divorced from his wife and family, as they were sold into someone else's possession. He never saw his freedom, but, perchance, one of his estranged children did.
That child went on to grandfather some children, who were not permitted to sit at the front of the bus, had to walk miles to a black only water fountain, were not allowed to live in the safer suberbs, were not privy to a white only education.
Those grandchildren's children finally saw equality in the 1960s, but were several generations behind to that same white family from 1800. It is not fair to make someone work five times as hard to have the same accomplishments as someone else, when we are the one's who deprived them of that right to begin with centuries ago. In that case, I do believe in affirmative action, so long as it is not abused.
5. If we are going to talk about double standards, let's talk about all the hoopla surrounding Obama's birth certificate. Some people are actually challenging the legitimacy of his presidency.
Why are we so quick to forget that W stole the state of Florida, when his relative on Fox called it for him, and all the other networks followed suit, though they already called it for Gore. Let us also not forget that if you were a minority, or of an ethnic background other than white, if your name was Michael E Smyth, and there was a convict my the name Mike Smythe, you would have been deprived your right to vote, as there was an 80% similarity. Some 150,000 Floridians were not permitted to vote, and the people who owned the voting equipment were related to Bush, as well. I smell a conspiracy.
I could put a nasty little spin on this and say those opposing Obama are racist as they challenge viewing his birth certificate, and those supporting Bush are also racist, as they sat back and let him steal the election, and the voices of 150,000 people.
6. Some little known trivia: Bush and Obama are seven cousins apart, according to some geneology reports.

..just a quick note here.. the confederate flag to most means 'rebel' not 'I'm rascist'.. and the human race keeps doing the same error over and over.. and it's called bigotry.. the newest and most politically correct one is forming like a wave against traditionalists, christians and conservatives.. and it's the same old, same old and has no more basis in logic than any other.. Also it wasn't only the 'white' race who partook in slavery.. black persons sold other black persons to middle eastern persons who in turn resold.. horrendous the whole thing was. Also influencing a nation or group is what 'gods' they worship influences their future as they are powerful spirit forces bringing results.. The Judeo/Christian one brought quick success and also helped formed democracy a very delicate and frail (new) thing.. but that's now being thrown out with the bath water and people do not remember the grave danger of government as god/caretaker.. and overseer..

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

It was the rebel soldiers that fought to keep slavery in place. I figure if a flag is representing the confederacy, it too represents slavery, and that suggests blacks are a second class citizen.

I have always said that church should be separate from state, and that "god" or people's misinterpration of "god" has no place in politics, but, just last year, there was a proposition initiated in California, based on religious views, against a group of people, and it took their fundamental rights away.

I forgot to mention, up until the late 1990s, a school in Morgan Freeman's hometown still had segregated proms. No joke. Morgan made multiple offers to pay for an integrated prom, and they finally took him up on it. Most of the students were in favour of it. Those who weren't had very hateful parents, and you were quick to see where they were taught their hateful views.

You can only teach hate, everyone is born to love by nature. It's a sad waste of a human life, to be so discriminatory, you tend to miss out on a lot of great people you could have had as friends.

It is true that slavery has seen a lot of races, but pertaining to this conversation, I am solely covering those who were subject to slurs like "chimp". Slavery is bad, no doubt, and we do it, daily, to all livestock, and milk and egg producers but very few people seem to care about them.

You are kidding, right?

And pretending you are not, what do you think the white man was deprived of, as opposed to, in my analogy, the black man?

How far are we going back in history here when you ask what white people were ever deprived of?

Because, seriously, that's the blanket statement to end all blanket statements.

Way back when Africa was selling its own citizens as slaves, and the "white man" was purchasing them, skin color didn't play anywhere near the importance of price. There were slaves from every race. Slavery was something that happened to people based on many factors: religion, economic standing, family name, living area, hostile takeover, etc.

But that's world history. Fast forward to America's history...

Not every white person was a slave owner. And certainly not every white person was a racist. Many white people were always dirt poor. Even assuming they wanted slaves, they had no land and no money for them. They weren't handed things for being white.

Although our society is ultra-PC today, thanks to liberal guilt, it was brutally honest in years past. People, yes, even (especially) whites, were deprived of things for reasons well beyond race. Your skin color didn't matter. It was your religious beliefs, social standing and other factors. Just becuase you were "white" doesn't mean you were part of this huge club where socialism mythically worked and every white man was guaranteed to not go without.

Look deeper into history to find the way some whites were treated. Ironically, whites done wrong have never been able to claim it's because of their skin color. Social, territorial and religious persecution isn't a sexy form of discrimination, I guess. Even in today's America, there are plenty of forgotten white people. They're thrown aside due to where they live, how they speak, who they worship and, of course, their social class. No one comes to their aid, and since they are white, they can't bellow out about discrimination and have the bleeding hearts take up their cause.

I get confused about "white people" from time to time.

I never understand which white people get the credit and which get thrown under the bus. The ones who kept slaves or the ones who fought to free them (forget about the North?)? The ones who enacted the Jim Crow Laws or the ones that joined the fight to right the wrongs? The insanely overwhelming percentage who couldn't care less about race or the sporadic white person who writes an email?

OMG - I completely missed one of your comments, where you allude to Reverand Wright saying that the US is to blame for 9/11. Most people think it was an inside job. Six weeks prior to it, the owner took out a new insurance policy on it, especially in the event of an attack. And, there were random uniformed people in and out of the building (likely planting bombs). I recommend the movie "Loose Change" in which they point out the similarities of the falling of the twin towers to a scheduled demolition. Even building 7 went down the same way, and somehow the gold reserves under the towers are missing.

Most people report seeing an army-esque plane fly into the tower, not a commercial jetliner, and they actually had video footage of what they say is a 757 flying into the pentagon, but they won't release it. If they truly want the American population to believe that it was a commercial plane, they should release that video. The fact that they don't just shows the government has something to hide. The fact that W and Cheney would not go into the 9/11 commission seperately as requested, is also very suspicious.

I don't even want to answer the statement, "you must hate Jews" at all, because I don't want to dignify it with a response. But, unfortunately, in public forums, sometimes you have to spell things out, even glibly, because people can't understand sarcasm, satire, cheekiness, or dry humour.

I love everyone except intolerant people. You may wish to read some of my other posts, or even my blog, and you will see that I am a humanitarian. And you will hear some really boss music. Caution, though, it is for grown-ups only.

Matersfish - for the first time ever (in my stay here at mylot), I appreciate your post, and dare I say, like it.

I wish there were a way to have a utopic society, in which everyone is stripped of their social class, their religion, their race, etc, in which we all had visual and obvious equality, but for some reason, only people who embody compassion can live like that.

It saddens me, because most of the cruelty can be avoided, especially the religious one, where people live in their chosen land of make believe. The ethnic and social class one don't come as easy.

I am trying to stick to black and white in America, with the focus on the term "chimp", so as to stay relevant to the topic at hand. I know that we splintered off into so many different conversations, but selling anyone as a piece of meat (including meat) is a wrong thing to do.

I watched a movie called "The 11th Hour" in which someone stated: You are either a person, or you are property. I'd like to think if I were alive in the 1800s, I would have been part of the underground railroad, and if I were alive in the nazi war, I would have been there to save more jews, and others. If I were alive in the 60s, I would have loved to celebrate the first integrated schools, and if I were alive when Martin Luther King and Harvey Milk were, I would have loved to have met them and thanked them for their work, and for paving a better society for me.

I should quiet down, out of fear of showing my age....

If there really was anti-Mormon act (and yes, there was), then why were they so wholeheartedly working to take the rights to marry away from the homosexuals?

Did they not realize they were being bigots, and mistreating a whole group of people, the way they were mistreated?

You are kind of dense, I have to say it. I know there are white people who have had it bad, that is, yet again, a no duh. But none of them were hanged to death for kissing a white woman or walking on the same sidewalk as us.

None of them were horsewhipped, or forced to go to the back of the bus when they were in their 80s.

Your views are so bloody narrow, and my first reaction to your saying I was racist was to get angry, because I am one of the most accepting people in the world, but now, after typing this, I only feel sorry for you.

You are rationalizing (or trying to) your own small, sheltered world, and will not accept what the truth is, despite it staring at you in your face.

I am kind of over this. If they were going to call W a "cracker", I would be at his defense just as fervently, even though I think he was a lousy president.

You chose to miss the whole point of this discussion.

I see this nonsense is still going on, with the same idiotic results.

If ladybug actually gave a shyt about history and wasn't so wrapped up in being a victim and a racist, she would know that it was CHRISTIANS who have made the greatest strides in equal rights. The underground railroad was run by AMERICAN Quakers who worked to end slavery.

http://americanhistory.su...

And as for Christians in Nazi Germany, there was a vast underground network of Christian churches in Europe, with support from American churches, to help Jews escape the Nazis.

http://www.ushmm.org/rese...

But as that doesn't jive with your ingrained bigotry, I expect you'll dismiss the facts and continue in your "woe is me" mentality. The sad thing is that you think you're so smart and cool and progressive but you're really just ignorant. It oozes from every word you type. Your blog especially reeks of it.

You really are to be pitied. Your heart is poisoned and your mind is closed.

myLot reputation of 48/100. sndcain36 (2691)  3 years ago

You know what I find ironic? Ladybug claims she would have protested the Holocaust and worked to free the slaves but in order to do that she would have had to have been a part of the very group she claims was responsible for causing the atrocities.

However progressives like her were big fans of eugenics and "racial purity" movements and most progressives embraced racism. I'd bet anything ladybug supports Planned Parenthood, an organization which came into existence for the sole purpose of breeding "inferior races" out of existence. She already belongs to a political party that began life for the sole purpose of oppressing black people....

http://www.salon.com/book...

But a hundred years ago, morons were public enemy No. 1, seen as a drain on the nation's resources and a grave danger to its stability. The situation was most keenly appreciated by progressives -- scientists, businessmen, feminists and liberal politicians -- who, as even the best of us sometimes do, feared that within a short time, the nation would be overrun by simpletons.

Because I think calling a black man a chimp teeters on the side of racist, or could be construed as it, and because I think that it doesn't take a christian to be a good person, you think you can call me a moron and a racist?

Well, more power to you for finding such a cute chart, and thanks for visiting my blog.

As for the woe is me attitude, I work hard for what I get in my life, but I am more worried about others and what they need help achieving. If I were alive in the 1800s or what have you, I would not have had to join with a christian underground group, I would not have a denominative group like that.

I think there is such a thing as being a humanitarian without having to associate a religous factor along with it.

Anyhoo - if you are ignorant enough not to realize the connection with the word "chimp" and racism, than you are equally as ignorant not to be able to understand anything I write. I mean, I do use polysyllabic words.

Mormons did nothing but voice opinion and fight for what they thought was right. You also did that, but for some reason you acknowledge your own right to fight for what you believe is right, but you hate the Mormons for doing the same thing.

That tells me that you only want rights for yourself and the rest of us can go die somewhere.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

I want realistic rights that don't tread on anyone else's. If my god told me I had to hate someone, I would abandon that god.

If your right to religion allows you the right to vote away someone else's right, then your right to religion is being abused, and that religion, alone, is abusive.

I will defend your right to religion, so long as you are not attempting to take the rights from anyone else. Any religion or faith that targets someone is very hateful. What if my religion said all mormons should not be allowed to marry.

Couldn't I initiate a ballot saying that my religious beliefs are what lead me that way? I could, but I never harbour such hate, under the guise of faith.

And if my faith were so strong, then that god is hateful, and an angry one, and I would want no part.

Para-tek -

When out protesting against the haters, their common stance was, "Why are you treating us so badly? We are entitled to our opinion. You are actually the hater for hating on us for hating on others, so there! That's why we are allowed to hate, because you hate us back."

If I were to go out on my street corner with a sign saying "Death to all n*ggers, k*kes, f*gs", do you think that those who hate me for it are the bigots, or actually the pacifists?

Alls I know is, if I were a member of a religion where it was legal to hang me in the 1980s, I would be in support of equality no matter what.

Apparenly you think that the only people who have rights are those who agree with you. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that just isn't true.

Mormons in California have the right to speak out on any issue they choose. Mormons outside of California also have the right to speak out on any issue we choose.

You also have the right to speak out on any issue you choose, including speaking out against Mormons.

The Mormons chose to speak out in support of Prop 8. Bigots chose to use violence against Mormons. Apparently you side with the violent.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

The mormons and anyone who spoke in support of prop 8 are the bigots, fueled by such a hatred and ridiculous fear based on misquotes from the bible. The same book and churches that also spearheaded apartheid, segregation, slavery, and the second-class citizenship of women.

The mormons have the right to worship whom they choose; they have their tax exempt churches. But god damn them if they think they have the right to use their right to take anyone else's rights away.

We have had this argument before, Para-tedk.

There is something called coexisting, no? Back it off, those who are the hateful fundamentalist bible literalist mormons. Now they are attacking Maine. We don't want your focus on the family bs in our country. Go somewhere where they welcome bigots.

It tends to be the bigots who are violent; don't spin this with your nonsense.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Yes, I agree. Beating two homosexuals is assault and battery, just as beating two heterosexuals is assualt and battery. I never suggested otherwise.

HOWEVER, Debrakcarey tried likening homosexual supporters peacefully protesting at a church to an assualt and harrassment on heterosexuals and religious folk.

Holding signs that say "We want equal rights", is much different than holding a sign that says, "I have a bullet for each one of you fudgepackers".

I am really tired of the offenders trying to play martyr and victim. They somehow manage to convince themselves in the process, but no one else.

Let's also be very clear about something: beating up two homosexuals because they are homosexual is assault and battery, and now a hate crime. Beating up two homosexuals to because you want to steal their wallets is assault and battery.

myLot reputation of 78/100. debrakcarey (2673)   ranked 136 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

My point was that if a heterosexual beats a homosexual it is a hate crime and federal offense. If a homosexual beats a heterosexual it is merely a crime and the federal government cares little.

THAT is discrimination and should not be. Homosexuals can hate just as well as any heterosexual. Why the need for special protection?

And if peaceful protesters in front of an abortion clinic can be called Nazis and dangerous to America...so can peaceful protesters outside a church.

There is a double standard and anyone who holds conservative or Judeo Christian ethics are the ones being discriminated against. Your posts here on this discussion make that glaringly obvious.

For a start, I'd like to ask why you're implying that all people with left wing views are hypocrites? confused

I'm sure you didn't mean to imply that, beause any intelligent human being knows that it doesn't matter what someone's political or religious views are, it's the person that counts.

Now - George Bush is a white man who comes across as very awkward, very thoughtless and not at all clever. He can't say the word "nuclear" for a start, is that what you want in a president? The reason anyone referred to Bush as a "chimp" is because of his mannerisms and the way he's shown himself to be uneducated and easily led.

President Obama is a black man. Anyone who called Obama a "chimp" would have no reason to do so regarding his intelligence or his manner, so they would clearly be making a racist remark.

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

First of all, I think most people are intelligent enough that I don't have to bog every discussion down with endless (and mindless) disclaimers.

You have a right to your opinion about Bush, but if you are going to hold Bush to that standard at least have the integrity to hold Obama to it also. Obama has a huge problem with spelling, he "ers" and "ums" through speaches like high school freshman, he is constantly having to explain away his "boneheaded" statements, he can't seem to make a coherent statement without his teleprompter, he constantly contradicts himself one speech to another.

If it was just the "chimp" thing, I might agree with you. But how is it racist to make fun of his dopey ears or his stated affection for Marxism?

I wonder how folks from the UK say "nuclear" compared to folks from America?

No Prime Minister that says "mom" instead of "mum"?

There are plenty of reasons to bash Bush, but where I'm from, bashing someone for a southern accent is plain ol' bigotry. It's nice to know that there are people in the UK passing judgments on America's Presidents based on their accent. Y'alls are so coherent! :P

Oh, good grief--a person can't say "nook-u-lar" rather than "nook-lee-ar" & be the president? Hah???em]confused[/em]

I've heard people on both sides of the aisle mispronounce nuclear, & many in the whining, Left wingnut GOVERNMENT-OWNED media, as well! That's not to mention how many use "media" as a singular word, instead of the plural it is (use another plural to see how silly it sounds, such as, "Honey, the dogs is loose again!"). And how about that b*stard term, "woken?" Again, all over the place.

I've been reading these people who are complaining, & I find their bias/ bigotry hard to stomach. It's so dishonest to say that, in general, all of any group of people are this or that...although, the far-left is especially guilty of the "politics of destruction"--at least the Left PTBs (I'm referring not to the rank & file Dem. voters, but to their lying, conniving leaders--on the whole). They tend also to do what is called in psychology texts as "projecting." THEY do many of the things they accuse the right of doing, on the incorrect assumption that since THEY do it, EVERYONE must. News flash: NOT TRUE.

A good example of this is their latest lie--that people in Town Halls, e.g., are all pretenders, mostly "bussed in," & that their complaints are "organized" & have no genuine ax to grind. They claim bold-facedly that the Democrats who show up plentifully to these events are all "GOP party hacks." These are DEMOCRAT Town Halls meetings!!!He-LOOOooo?!? This is what they have been doing for decades. It's straight from the "Rules For Radicals book by Saul Alinsky (a far-leftwingnut Obama has said to "admire").

So naturally, they want you to think everyone at these events is a phony! But if you watch these meetings, what you see is virtually unanimous crowds of people getting angry because the PTBs that show up refuse to answer simple, logical questions, such as who will have to pay for this trillion dollar, freedom-stealing "health care" boondoggle?"

Projection.

I'm just sayin'....

In my quick myLot typing, usually light on editing, I make the singular "media is" mistake from time to time.

In order to cut back on my errors, I've changed the name of the media in my head. Media is now known as "those motherfu$&ers."

I'm hoping that works in the future. :)

Obama is a democratic go card for the party. Because of his race many will treat his Presidency with kid gloves so as not to insight racial out cries. Not that it matters because the cartoonists will come up with something else, like the joker posters in LA. They may not be able to do chimps but get him the will.

You know, a black friend of mine once said...don't mince words with me just cause I'm black, that offends me more than your words ever could.

So, if all through the history of America...Americans dissed their presidents freely, why are we suddenly feeling like we have to treat Obama any differently? If he's big enough to sit in the Oval Office....he's big enough to deal with how the American people feel about him....even when it means some of us don't stroke his ego just cause he's black! What did he do to become 'black'? I know I didn't do anything to become 'white'. It is just how it is....he's black, so WHAT! He is first and foremost the president....and accountable to the American People. The fact that we even discuss his blackness is proof he is using it to further his influence....and a white person doing that is called...... what?

Has anyone ever called a white president a "cracker", or a "whitey", or a "honkey" in their insults? I welcome political cartoons and satire, so long as they are not divisive, nor embody any racism or hate.

Take the blindfold off, and realize that some people refer to Obama as a "chimp" because he is black, as that used to be a common racial slur.

I challenge you to come up with a way of describing his performance, that can not in anyway be construed as racism, especially with his so-called "go card".

IE: He is a bad president.

But, not all of you who oppose Obama have been able to say one sentence without referencing his skin colour.

Oppose him all you like, but keep his creed, or any past words used as racial slurs out of it.

Simple enough, right?

myLot reputation of 95/100. OpinionatedLady (1938)   ranked 113 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Wow Ladybug so if I say that all of his failed policies are garbage I am insulting his race. I said the same about most of Bush's policies as well so was that racist? I never said anything about the mans race or races as he is 50/50, I do not like what he is doing and the point is that people assume it is racist if we do not like the man because I am white. That is just horrid behaviour to think that every white person is a racist because they do not like what a person of another race is doing. It is that attitude that spreads hatred and racism further. Should I say it is alright for some one to kill murder or steal because they happen to be a different color then I am. I come a very multiracial family and none of us like what that man is doing and yes some of them are even black does that mean they have sold out? Are they race haters too?

Opiniatedlady - I am embarassed for you. Scroll up and see what I wrote.

I asked you to insult his failed policies without referencing his skin colour, which you seem incapable of, despite your mixed race.

I welcome opposition to the president - some people genuinely don't like him.

Don't like him all you want, but leave his skin colour out of it.

I will challenge you again; can you in all your opinions, state one that says his policies failed? And limit it to that, without saying something racial, or using a past used stereotypical slur?

Sure you can. Show me.

myLot reputation of 95/100. OpinionatedLady (1938)   ranked 113 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

First off he has put forward programs such as cash for clunkers which failed in less then a week. How did it fail other then it ran out of money in a couple days, had to be revived only to scam people into using. How about his home rebate for new home purchasers, yes a scam they call a rebate which is actually a loan that though there is no interest is a higher payment on it's own then if worked into a mortgage. How about his treatment of Iraq where in the last few moths the number of mass murders has increased significantly in fact another 100+ people where just killed in retaliation to his policies enacted there.

Now If you read my statements you will see I never used any racial slurs, if you believe I did please point them out I would love to know which ones they where.

It is the belief that because one person does not like what someone of another race says and does is racist that is not only a falsehood but irresponsible.

Ladybug, are you saying that all the people who voted for him just so we could have our first Black president were racist?

He and his supporters relied heavily on his skin color in the campaign. When he was elected, his skin color was a major part of the celebration.

Are you saying it's ok for his supporters to make his skin color an issue, but no one else?

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Just real quick - I don't think anyone should have voted for Obama just because he is black. Some people may have, and I don't support that. I do, however, support those who voted for him because they support his policies. I believe that he should be considered what he is: a politician. Not a "black" politician.

I will address the rest when I officially wake up, lol. Half awake now, woke up with an insatiable to visit republican lot.

Para-ted 2k - I wikipedia'd the Yes We Can slogan, and it shows it is similar to "si, se puede,", or, yes, it can be done.

I think he was referring to overall change, such as "End war?" "Yes, we can!"
"Unite for peace?", "Yes we can"
"Celebrate diversity?" "Yes, we can."

When John Lennon said, "Give peace a chance.", please, do tell, were there any racial undertones in that I might have missed?

I Wikipedia'd the slogan "yes we can" also, I was interested to see that there were no links to "yes we can" on the hit about Prs. Obama. Please tell me what you got your information from, that you attribute to a Wikipedia search for "yes we can".

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yes_We_Can

You can also see other uses of the the yes we can campaign hyperlinked to within the above URL.

I know its fun for you to try to find or create racism, or race pride in every little maneuver or statement Obama, his supporters, or those who just don't hate him with as much fervor as you do, makes, but, it is going to be really hard to find it in a blanket campaign fighting for overall change. It does not just pertain to the African Americans of muslim faith.

However, undeniably, when Rush Limbaugh played the song, "Obama, the magic negro," that was overtly racist, and you know it.

myLot reputation of 95/100. OpinionatedLady (1938)   ranked 113 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Did you know that it was a Democrat that first applied the "Magic Negro" literary device to Obama? Did you know that "magic negro" was a literary device in the first place? Were the Black people who accused Obama of being "not really African American" racist too? Or are they ok because many of them ended up backing him after he secured the party nomination?

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Why do you (and a lot of people in general) find it so complicated to see Obama for what he is -- a politician, PLAIN and simple.

He is not the half-black politician.
He is not the magic negro politician.
He is not the muslim politician.

He is simply, a politician.

We should be forced to go blind during elections, and only do things based on policies.

AND THIS IS EXACTLY THE WAY THE LEFT WANTS IT. That way, there is less critical thought expressed. And NO ONE thinks about the things that are happening around us as I type.

We have to stop thinking in terms of left vs. right, democrat vs. republican...and start thinking as AMERICANS!

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Do you understand there is a difference between criticizing a president, and referring to a black president as a "chimp" which has been used as a racial slur before?

If you don't like obama, find creative ways to insult him. That way, you are being fair to all other presidents you don't like. But find a way where you can use words that don't have a racial connotation to them, and then you will not be accused of being a racist.

Its not like someone is saying, "you are a racist because you are opposed to obama's healthcare reform." Or "you are a racist because you are opposed to his foreign policy".

But, if you go and call our president a chimp, that could be construed as racism (even if not intended to be), as it has been used as a racial slur before.

Can you think of a word or a sentence to describe his performance, or lack thereof? If so, post it here, and we can judge it based on its merit, and wont have to worry about any derogatory terms. Simple enough?

And, on another note, He has not even been president for more than a year. Why don't we give him a chance? He is running a country. Most of us take years just to get our finances in order, or shed the last twenty pounds, or make a schedule for ourselves. He has had almost 7 months to lead our country.

I have been called a racists so many times that is has become a joke, especially with the black members of my family. I just keep in mind that being called a racist is only because these people do not have the intelligence to debate the issue in an educated and civiliated manner.

I don't recall ever calling him a chimp? I think the worst I've called him is a narcissist. And I was quoting a medical professional's blog on the subject.
I don't even recall responding to the part of this discussion that concerned him or Bush being called that.

But I guess if I am against Obama, I am a redneck racist nazi backwoods inbread barefoot and ignorant hillbilly domestic terrorist. So says the left. Sorry, but I've read to many comments left on videos, blogs and forums by the left, calling any conservative so many OFFENSIVE things...it makes me sick! And you want to whine that Obama gets called names? I didn't do it! And technically no one on this discussion did either.

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Ladybug, the problem isn't the words used against Obama, the problem is any criticism is met with accusations of racism. Obama and his supporters are trying to stifle all dissent with that one word.

A leader who can't handle dissent, can't handle being a leader.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Para-ted -

Implying that all Obama supporters will knee-jerk a false accusation of racism is very narrow minded, and also borderline racist.

Now, that said, some Obama supporters will falsely accuse of racism, and I do not support those that do, although the number of them is not nearly as high as it is exaggerated.

That argument is just a safety blanket that the fanatical conservatives use.

There are fanatics on all sides, and I urge you to check out my statements in the thread "you racists" if you go and see where I posted in them.

The similar argument was made there, and I have conceded that a fraction of people will falsely accuse of racism, but that is matched by a fraction of those they are accusing actually being racist.

The only way to fix this is to remove any racial connotation, ie: Obama is a politician (not a BLACK politician), or, when critizing him, don't refer to him as a "monkey", as that, and its similarities: "ape", "chimp", "gorilla", had been used as racial slurs in the past, which then brings a racial connotation in to play.

A lot of this IS semantics, and a lot of it is fear, misunderstanding, denial, and ignorance.

It's a simple resolution, but too many people want to create further problems out of it.

myLot reputation of 51/100. ladybugmagic (896)   ranked 585 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

Paratedk - You are one of very few who usually gives me a run for my money, but, now you are just fighting with me to fight with me.

Please explain to me, even glibly if you have to, how I exposed my "bigoted hate against all christians I disagree with."

I just don't see it. I do, however, see someone went to some work last night voting me negative.

I actually exposed most of the hypocrisy you are exemplifying. You did a great job dodging all the points I made, and cleverly tried discrediting what I said by referring to the truth I exposed as "hate", knowing you can shephard the religious mylotters to single out the one word, "hate" and sway them away from reading what was actually posted. I see that action as nothing more than running with your tail between your legs.

If you are ready to admit I won this argument, I am ready to accept your forfeiture.

I actually went above and beyond researching about the fundamentalist christian, reading their bible, getting religious leaders take on homosexuality. I stumbled upon a movie you should watch, link below. It shows how churches nurture prejudice, and have often used the bible to support apartheid, segregation, the second class citizenship of women, and now, it is used to justify stripping the homosexuals of their inalienable civil rights. Of course, using misquotes from the bible.

http://www.youtube.com/vi...

Look - I made no hateful comments. I pointed out several hypocricies. If you feel that exposes hate, time to evaluate your religion. Not time to try to knee-jerk a "you hater" comment to me, because I posted valid points.

I can give you an example: I am a practicing vegan. I do not eat meat, dairy, honey, eggs, whey, chicken/poultry/fish, anything made with animal by-products. I do it for my strong committment to the ethical treatment of animals.

I want to marry my boyfriend of six years, but, we are holding off until every one of our countries citizens is afforded the same right, as we are no better than anyone else. We will not partake in an inequality that falls in our favour. That is how passionate we are to the cause.

I could tell you I am a vegetarian, but I only eat chicken, but, that would make me a hypocrit. If you pointed that out, I would not then say, very cowardly, "You hate vegetarians."

I could tell you I support equality, but, only for the blacks and no other minority. That would make me a hypocrit. If you pointed that out, I would not say, "You hate people who support equality."

You could tell me you are a religious man, and that you won't support homosexuality because god says it is a sin, and if I then pointed out you were eating a shrimp cocktail and wearing linen and wool together, I would merely be pointing out your hypocrisy. That does not mean I am exposing my hate. It means I am exposing your lies.

I actually like you, paratedk. Mormon and all, only cause I think you can match my intelligence. But you are letting me down here.

myLot reputation of 63/100. ParaTed2k (6358)   ranked 325 out of 3,986 in politics  3 years ago

"For a christian to say homosexuality is a sin, "for the bible tells me so" is the same logic a bomber could use saying blowing up a building is okay, "for the anarchist's handbook tells me so."

The only people who think homosexuality is a sin are fundamentalist christians, bible literalists, and other conservative and fanatical religious groups/sects.

Ergo, the blanket statement I make is not a mere accusation, it is a reality."

This is enough for me.
