My question is how did these discussions that have no real words only a number of mixed letters ever get by mylot? and since they did how could one answer them except to ask what they meant by this and suggest they read the rules before making a discussion? I realize this is no biggie but how did they manage to get it posted?

Well since there is no real monitoring system or a review of what is put up, people can pretty much post whatever they want..some are the work of trolls making trouble as usual. It's up to us to report any discussion that doesn't make sense or against guidelines. One time I caught several discussions made by some guy in his language, not English and I commented to him that he needs to post discussions in English only...he was cheeky enough to answer back "Hey dude I'll write in whatever language I want...what's it to you?" And did so in perfect English--I reported those non-English discussions and they were deleted. Not that it's exactly against the guidelines, but one thing I wish it were...people who write in text type messaging words.....since I'm not into texting haven't a clue what is being said most times

No one views discussions before they post. It is only when someone files a complaint that anyone may actually view them. And, we're not all sure that happens as it sometimes seems that discussions are deleted based on quantity of complaints alone even when there is no visible violation in the discussion. But, generally speaking, we are on our honor here until someone reports us and the problem is then verified with human eyes. I'm so glad you're back, Hatley. And, as I can see, you're back with a vengeance!! LOL

hi jerzgirl oh yes got to make up for lost time he he glad to'be back I guess I should have reported those,I just hate to report something unless its a gross violation of mylot rules. I know some discussions have been reported out of malice I think as I saw nothing in them that violated any' rules and I responded and lost points doing it. why'would anyone be that mean to report something as having broken the rules when it didnt?"

Because it wasn't a true discussion - it was nonsense for the sake of gaining credit for posting. Or the fact that it wasn't English, which is also required to be the dominant language (although I don't think a phrase or two of non-English within a discussion is a problem).

Well this is a good question and could apply to many situations in todays world. I think a lot of it comes from modern tech. So many people have short hand language as used in text messaging and it just seems to be the new era. It's hard for anyone over the age of about 55 unless of course you're tunned into this new era, which I am not!!! Good Post Thank You.

hi grandmaof2 yes I cannot undestand any of the' texting they do today except that I know u stands'for you. Im well past 55 so am not into the texting thing at all. I was really wondering if those letters might mean something to some one else on here like maybe ' a special between two people?

Hi Hatley, it befuddles me how these people do get passed myLot..I remember answering a discussion and mixing the letters in the words but myLot would not send it as it was a violation of their rules..so how these other people get through is a mystery...LoLo

hi littleowl it befuddles me also and often wonder if it might be a message to one particular person on here but that does sound a tad paranoid. it just probably slipped past mylot admins.

I don't know what the poster was thinking when they made a post that was just a bunch of nonsense. Maybe they just want mylot to ban their account

[em]]hey fwidman maybe that is it they want to get'banned cause they didnt get all the referrals they came to'my lot to get,and now want out of here. I once thought that'those might be some sort of code to someone else here. but that seems rather silly.

I think anything is initially posted, and then deleted at a later date when myLot runs whatever software they use to check discussions. I don't bother answering them at all, although I do report them. When they get deleted, anyone who replied will lose the penny or two that they received. There are lots of wonderful discussions here to respond to, so it really makes no sense to waste time on these silly entries.

hello catdla yes one shoulder bypass any oddity in discussions as its useless to respond.I just was'amzed' and bewildered at trying to make some sense out of a string of nothing but letters.some here say its'probably because the user is new or speaks english as a second language but I dont think that is the case I think it may be a coded deal for another particular reader to answer.

I found one of these recently ...it was a whole string of letters and commas and we figured it was originally typed on another keyboard...in another language and that it was a copy of a discussion by the same person posted in English. Several people besides me reported it and a few days later the discussion and the user were gone.

You beat me to the punch on this one, Hatley. I have seen several like this, and one that had over ninety responses. Now, while they are annoying, I believe we have to make some allowances for the large number of members here whose first language is not English. Secondly, so many are young and used to sending text messages, which in due course will totally infiltrate the language, and the way we communicate. I don't like it, but I think we may have to get used to it. A good discussion topic.

hi mipen I really get annoyed when I try to read a discussion' all in textese. u I gather is for you and your is ur but'most of the rest is well beyond me. I just dont text to anyone so I do not know the text lanuage at all. I think there is some' mention of not texting in the mylot rules.

They are spammers. Yesterday I have seen one with a long punctuation (question marks) without any words and just wonder what the person is trying to say. I don't think the admin notice this oddity not until someone send a complain and they get deleted. It is better not to response to this sort of post as it will eventually be removed and not worthy of giving them our piece of advice. It is not easy to earn in mylot and responding to a post that we know is going to be axed is a waste of time.

hi zandi yep I saw that one also and i guess mylot has missed it. I never respond to those or any others'that I am sure mylot will delete. someone still posts discussions asking us to congratulate them on reaching milestones and this rule has been brought up several times. dont the posters who break this rule see these discussions warning' them to not post about milestonesl?
