Do you ever test your luck? Has it ever paid off?

I was wondering how many people out there purchase tickets and play the lottery on a regular basis? whether scratch tickets or the big drawing like powerball or megabucks, do you try your luck at these regularly? Or do you never ever play them? Or are you like some who only purchase a ticket every once in a while, when something else "lucky" has happened in your life? I work in a store that sells these tickets, and we do quite a bit in the way of sales. We have people who buy a megabucks or power ball ticket once a week, and we have the other extreme, peopel who will come in daily and drop up to 20 bucks on scrtch tickets a day only to walk away with nothing, or hardly anything at all. Though i have been witness to a few big winners (20,000 and 40,000 dollars) i see these people who spend so much on them and never win that they must be going broke just for the chance to try and win a little extra. Sohow about you? do you every play the numbers or purchase scratch tickets? has it ever paid off for you? If you did play, and you won (let's keep it small and say you won 500 or 1000 dollars) what would you spend it on? Would it all go towards bills, or would you keep some of it and splurge on something nice for yourself?

IN Nevada we cant play lotto we have to go to Arizona or Calif. to get them So wehn we have extra money we get a month worth for powerball tickets we dont spend anything on scatch tickets. WHEn I lived in a state where we could get scatch tickets would win $100 a few times.and we would get thses when we played bingo so what we won we would either put in bank or buy something we needed.

My aunt one time asked me to pick her up on of the state lottery ticket. I told the cashier 1 ticket. She put 2 on one ticket so I bought those and got my aunt her 1 ticket LOL The one set of numbers that I kept ended up have several numbers come up and I won $100. So my 2 bucks paid off

I was pretty happy because I always thought the lottery was a scam LOL Since it was money that wasn't in my budget I used it buy myself a new winter coat. I had needed one and the money came just at the right time.

I tend not to. I only play when the tickets are given as a gift. I guess I don't think I am a very lucky person in that regard. I got lucky with my personal life. And I have healthy kids. Money luck has never been with me.

Thank you for pointing out that people can be lucky in many differnt ways, not just financially. I often throw scratch tickets in for a gift as well. Particularly when we are doing secret santa type things, or whan just wanting to get something small for someone. They fit so easily in the card, and you never know...they might win the best gift they have everrecieved in their lives!!

I've done this with slot machines in casinos. Anytime a machine strikes me in a certain way or I get a feeling about a machine, I try it out. I don't always win but this has led me to a lot of cash from time to time. Either my feelings are realistic or I just happen to pick machines with money. I don't know the difference but I do win this way.

wow...i wish i had that talent. I have never tried my luck far enuogh as to actually go to a casino, though i have thought it would be fun. If i went i would take a small amount of money that iw oudln't expect to be coming home with me though, so i wouldn't feel dissapointed when i lost it all!

I don't buy them but my husband does. He does not buy them all the time but when ever it gets up to a certain amount he will go and get tickets. He will even cross over to the border of Wisconsin when the Power Ball lottery gets really high, they don't sell those here in Illinois, but we only live 30 minutes from the border so it is not too big of a deal to drive there to get the lottery tickets.

I definitely don't play the lottery on a regular basis, but occasionally I will buy a scratch off ticket or if the jackpot is high I will buy a Powerball ticket. I've never won anything more than 100 dollars, but it is still fun if I keep it in moderation. If I was to win 1000 dollars I would keep 100 dollars to have a family night out and the rest of the money would simply go to paying down some of our debt. Simple enough, but it would make us happy.

Once in a great while I do buy a scratch off.....and I do win once in a while...about five years ago I paid for my trip to Arizona with a winning ticket...but I don't buy them daily and not even weekly...just when I am feeling lucky!

A lot of people are doing now as of this current situation because of the recession and poverty that we are experiencing. Here in our country, buying tickets is observe in all corner of the country and trying their luck to win the game. I have also tried it to myself and unfortunately did not win the said game. But there's no harm in trying.

well...no harm in trying unless you are in such a dire financial situation where the couple dollars you spend on tickets could be better spent on keeping your family fed and sheltered, but yes, if you have a few dollars that you can spare it is a fun way to do it, gives you a chance to dream about what you would do if you won it big!

I have tried testing my luck.so far,I haven't won yet.as long as I don't spend too much money on lotto tickets,I will test my luck.who knows,I might win next time.if I win 1000 dollars,I'll give half to my family.I'll keep 300 dollars to my savings account.I'll spend 200 dollars for myself.

i don't think i'm addicted to lotto. a few years ago i did buy lotto regularly, but just used very small money. I read an article about the lotto spending and it said at least you give yourself a hope every week, so you life in the the week when you are waiting for the lotto result is not so boring. i accepted the idea and did practice it. then i found i just got upset feeling. My husband sometimes bought lotto at supermarket. he always said i will be the lucky one. however we did not get any return from it. This May i was out for holiday. when i came back my husband told me he bought a lotto and got £10, really big money. I think it was the first time we got return. wish it is not the last one.

There is that little sense of thrill, waiting and hoping that you might win something, whether little or big! As long as it is not taking over you life, and that is the only thing you are hinging our finances on, there is no harm in it. I have played scratch tickets occasionaly, and though usually i don't win, i have had a few 50 dollar winners..which always left me feeling great. I usually used to money towards something i woudln't normally be able to do financially, like buy a new clothing outfit, or take my boyfriend and i out somehwere nice for dinner.

LUCK has no boundaries. It sails over the mankind even before men and women knew who they were.Well all living beings have a life where they would have faced luck in their way.Buying lottery tickets with ones so called believed lucky number wont bring in the money, its hard to say that because 'no lightning strikes the same place more than a time'.There's a lot of incidents to believe a person to be lucky,a place lucky,an item lucky so many things revolve around luck though.Being good brings luck ,I believe

I won $50 once on a scratch ticket. I cashed it in and bought another one and won $10 on that one. So I did good for my $2. But normally I don't buy them there a waste of money. I haven't bought any for about 5 year's.

its good to know that many people out there don't waste there money on them to the point of breaking them selves. It makes me sad to see people who have to scrounge for change to buy milk for their children, but will spend tons of money on scratch tickets. stick with the sure thing and keep the money in your pocket if you can't afford it, that is what i say.
