What I am saying they do it with who ever the first lady is.My mom and uncle and I were talking about it today.And they were talking about how Jackie Kennedy was criticized,mater of fact they said that one time so bad by a male reporter,that she slapped him.

Unfortunately I was alive back then so I couldn't really make the comparison=)

Honestly I don't see why it's a big deal what she wears on vacation. I would think it was strange and a poor decision if she wore shorts to an official event, but not on vacation. Heck, I don't even care if the colors match, she could wear brown and pink together for all I care (those don't go together do they?)

Yes brown and pink go together. That's my point,who cares if the first lady wore shorts on her vacation.If you or I or one of those reporters had been on vacation in that heat and that type of place we'd been wearing shorts too. That just proves even more that the Obama's are just normal people.

Gosh, I still dont see why they all made such a big deal out of it . It looked fine it wasnt trashy or anything and the first thing I thought is wow it must be hot there.

I don't get it either! She looked like a normal person on vacation in the heat.I guess she should of worn a dress and heels.Been hot and uncomfortable to please the press.Then when she falls and gets hurt from wearing those heels,then the press will say that she was stupid for wearing heels.

Whatta you mean she has no responsibilities? She's the First Lady of the United States of America. The First Lady has ALWAYS had responsibilites. Name me one who didn't.

The First Lady of the United States is the unofficial title of what is called "Host of the White House". Did you know that it doesn't necessarily have to be the president's spouse?

Anyway, the position carries no official responsibilities nor are there any official "job desriptions" or "duties".

The First Lady basically gets to decide what (if any) role she wants to play in the administration. She can be a Hillary (We are the President) type or a Ladybird Johnson (who was the first First Lady to have a staff and budget. However, she didn't accomplish much more with it than getting an office built for the First Lady of the US and planting flowers in her "Capital Beautification Project".. but in fairness, her term was a short one. Or even a Barbara Bush type who didn't do much in the way of politics, but was very busy with literacy programs and other things that don't get much press.

The bottom line is, she has a budget and a staff, but no real responsibilities.

So basically what you are saying is that the first lady spends money and does nothing.I guess it was nothing when Michelle Obama started a garden that the vegetables from it is feeding people.I guess it was nothing when she was at the soup kitchen helping out and at the school helping out.Visiting other operating schools and evaluating them.I guess it was nothing when she visited and helped that little girl and her family that needed help.It seems to me that she has made her own responsibilities!

No, I never said she does nothing. I said she has no official duties or responsibilities. She is free to decide what to do with her budget and staff.

Yeah no matter what you do, say, or dress people will talk . And its in the nature to make big deals out of smalls things ... Gosh, wish it would change!
It was hot was my first thought. I know capris or pants you would of been buring up.

Yep,the media picks at everything! And I wish we could change it.

The media and the public pic on him too.It's crazy.Like recently when his friend was stupidly arrested and the president said so he was criticized for saying so.So,he invited the men to the white house for a beer.And the press had another field day about that.There was a man in front of the white house with a sign saying that it should be juice not beer.Please..... a lot of men have a beer or two after work or just sitting with their buds.Then the tv reporters started asking people what they thought about the brand of beer. People starting saying that he should of chose "Sam Adams" brand because it is more patriotic!

Then they got mad because he was not wearing a suit jacket when he was sitting in the Oval office,his office,by himself one day.

Yep it is pretty sad. All the news stations had it on and were making such a big deal out of it. My first thought was it must be real hot there and then I looked at the pictures they had and I thought she looked fine.

Yeah, I am sure she heard about it by now . Maybe she will just laugh about it, but who knows . It like grow up and focus on things that really matter and that are a big deal!
