OUCH!! Fellow Cat Owners. Has This Ever Happened to You? |
|
I was sitting here on the couch MyLotting, and my cat was sleeping next to me. I reached out to give him a little pat, and as soon as I touched him he made a loud hiss, and clawed a chunk out of one of my fingers. Have you ever accidentally startled a sleeping cat, and gotten clawed? This one really needs to have his friggen claws clipped!!

1. Care4Pets (156) | 5 months ago | LOL, Danish...yes, I've had this happen to me. However, mine is a biter...well, "mouther". One of our Himalayans is deaf, so she can't hear you coming to pet her. If she's asleep, it totally freaks here out and she will whip her head around, putting her teeth on your hand, as if to say 'Back off or I'll sink in!'. We know now to be cautious and try wake her in other ways (like with a feather or brush) so that our hands are safe. Best of luck with your kitty!:)

3. idowrite72 (1613) | 5 months ago | I don't deal with cats, but I have a grand daughter who likes to claw or pinch with her little finger nails on Nana's neck or arms. She doesn't have to be startled each time either and I even have a scare on my face where she gave me a good scratch there.

4. anne25penn (877) | 5 months ago | LOL. Rule of thumb: never touch a sleeping cat, unless they're kittens. There are some areas where they feel sore and will really claw and hiss when you get to touch that particular area. For my cat Spot, she doesn't want to be touched on her belly but will rub her head and whole body on my legs and hand. I guess its their "tickle" area too, that's why they would not want to be touched. I always wait for them to come over, rather than touch them when they're sleeping or licking their paws.

6. Chispa514 (601) | 5 months ago | Omg YES! That has happened before, espeially with my overweight white cat. she digs her claws in me all the time, and more so if i startle her when she's sleeping. I've even got scars from where she's dug her claws into me. Now when she sleeps, if I wanna pet her, I call out her name first and wake her up THEN pet her lol

| 7. DeadKanDance (2) | 5 months ago | I have a couple of cats that are jumpy like that. Some of mine are very laid back, but I have one in particular that if you pet her when asleep she wakes up startled and bites or threatened with claws. Some cats are just wound up more tightly than others.

10. Fortunata (681) | 5 months ago | Yep, one of the joys of being owned by a cat. I have a cat that's 'moody' and you have to be careful how you approach him. He hissed at the other cat because she got to close to him, yet the other night she was sitting on him like a chair, with her paws hanging over his head!
