Do you buy new books, second hand books or just read them in a library? |
|
If you are rich and can afford it, then you can keep abreast of new top bestsellers of the week. Most good bookshops carry these books. However, for others, they go to second-hand shops and browse, picking books at discounts. I belong to the last category. I read them by borrowing if off my community library. It is cheap. I just need to pay a yearly subscription fee for membership and hey presto, I can borrow three book for two weeks. I did managed to read many good fiction books and also English Language books that I love to read to firm up my grammar and writing style. So which category of book reader are you? Those who buy new books, those who browse second hand bookshops or those like me who borrow books from the nearby library?

1. wangjihong350 (857) | 5 months ago | Yes. I often buy a lot of good books on the stalls. Higher prices of books in bookstores. However, in the booth to buy cheap. If the bookstore to buy a book, the same prices in the booth I can buy three books. Of course, in the booth to buy a book packaging is very common.

3. jayrene (1889) | 5 months ago | i belong to the second one, although there are a few times that i buy new books, those are when i cant find a second hand for it or if i have enough money in my pocket that i can afford it. i have many books that i have bought as second hand. some of them i have kept as they have became my favorite, other i have given away.
there is no library here though unlike in your place, which is very unfortunate for me as i like reading books. i would've save more from it.

4. sehlers (130) | 5 months ago | I get my books sometimes from second hand stores, rarely new, but mostly lately I've been downloading ebooks. I have a Sony Reader which I just love. I can have a bunch of books with me and they don't take up any space. I mostly download free books and stories, sometimes patterns for knitting, and I do pay for books as well. They're usually cheaper in ebook form because there is no physical cost involved in the production.

5. JamesKYTan (538) | 5 months ago | Hi,
I do buy new books to read once in awhile. But most of the time my sister-in-law will bring those books which she already read. In a way we are sharing books to read.
During weekend, I do go to bookshop and browse some interesting book on the shelf. I do buy a couple of motivation books during the MPH Warehouse Sale of 70% discount.

7. antarcticpostcards (444) | 5 months ago | All of the above depending on the time. I have not gone to the library lately, but I used to check out books a lot. I also buy books new regularly, but mostly when I have gift cards to Barnes & Noble or Borders. If I am going to spend cash, though, I will go to the used book store. It really just depends on what I am looking for. Whether I am going to read at home (library) or need some reading for a trip (usually used book store) or if I have some gift cards to spend (new books).

8. jonjee0203 (1849) | 5 months ago | I used to buy new books when I was working. Now that I have retired, it is the library for me. From time to time, I do go over the the shopping malls to browse the second hand bookshops. Got a book or two lately. Generally the good ones would have been bought by the "early birds". As for the library,I go there when I have time. You need to be a member to borrow books.

9. joannaleed (2159) | 5 months ago | I don't belong to any of the above. I usually borrow books from my friends..^_^..I'm not fond of reading books such as novels or fiction books, that's why every time I have something that I really, really want, I asked my friends if they had it and then, of course, borrow it. I'm not a fast reader, that's it usually takes time to give it back to them...

10. laglen (3821) | 5 months ago | I utilize the library. Here it is free and I can check out up to 10 items for two weeks at a time. If I want something really bad and the library does not have it, I will go to a used book store. I read too much (5-8 books per week) to be able to afford buying them!
