I can taste it already |
| |
| This is an updated photo of one of my watermelons I have gfrowing. Just a couple weeks ago it was the size of the tennis ball. Now, as you can see, it is about the size of a soccer ball. I can taste it already and so eager to cut it and eat it. But the wife says wait another week. I thumped it and get the hollow sound of a ripe watermelon. I would guess this is about 3 or 4 pounds in weight. Have you ever grown something and when it gets large you can't wait to pick and eat it? | | That's the way I do my tomatoes. :) I watch and watch and have to make myself not pick them just yet, waiting for the perfect time. My mouth waters when I go to the garden. | | | | | | |

| | Oh that photo looks wonderful. I would love to slice it up right now and eat it. I love fresh watermelon. To answer your question, yes, I have grown something as big and large as your watermelon. I have grown watermelons myself. Also pumpkins that have gotten very large. Sometimes I swear the zuccuhni's are so large they are at least that many pounds. Those large ones are best used and baked in zuccuhni boats.....yummy. | | | | | | |

| | My corn and a few neighbors did the same thing this year. Out of 50 or more planted I got about 25 good ears and a bunch of tiny cobs. They were still as good though. Odd huh? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~ | | | |

| | That is wonderful. I love watermelon. I feel the same way with green onions and tomatoes too. We are having a rough time this year in Indiana with watermelon growth. We had alot of water that caused alot of flooding which haulted the growth. | | | | | | |

| | That looks good enough to eat. You need to guard that thing, I might find myself in your neigborhood and it might disappear. Isn't it fun to grow food, and the fruit and vegies that are homegrown are always the best. The tomatoes this year are so yummy. I have been eating lots of tomatoes and cucs, I am going to miss fresh vegies from the garden. Remember guard that watermelon. Don't say I didn't warn you. | | | | | | |

| | Believe this or not, I am actually sick of the garden this year. Way too much planted and a lot given away which is fine by me as I do that every year. But so much this year became overwhelming in a sense. A small sense though. Hahaha! I have tomatoes growing in my compost, in the cracks of my cement etc. HAHAHA! | | I believe it, when stuff starts ripening up, it happens all at once. It does get overwhelming at times. You hate to waste food but you can't eat it all. Enjoy the fresh yummy vegie's now, very soon the garden will be done for the year and you will miss the fresh homegrown taste of the goodies. | | | |

| | A light thump on the watermelon and a thudding sound means they are ready. Not to hollow of a sound though or they are over ripe. That's what I was taught anyhow. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~ | | | |

| | oh wow thats looking great, well done! I am unable to grow anything as I have no garden to my apartment, I am trying to work out what I can grow just outside the door or indoors - I am already doing some herbs. I would love a garden! I grew up with my Dad having a huge veggie garden, and ,y brother and I had our own patch each - I remember growing some strawberries I was quite proud of as a 6 year old! Keep up the good work! | | | | | | |
