this is not a serious discussion but has anyone else made a typing
blunder that completely changed the meaning of a sentence in a
response or comment, specially one that was fairly serious? Just now I caught'my error before I posted my comment.I was telling the person who responded that hang down your head Tom Dooley was oneof my favorites too only I typed Hand down your head, Tom Dooley, okay now please laugh. thanks.

Hello my friend
I know what you mean when I see the caps it makes me mad I never actually sent a post this way, I don't consider myself to be the best typist so when I have to redo something it makes me so
lol and this happens to me all the time once I use the cap for the I forget it, guess this tells you that I don't look at the screen while typing lol I said I am not the best lol
What do you mean something eats your responses? do you mean when you send the comment all of a sudden its not there anymore lol this happens to me
, you know what I do use the back feature and go back till you see your response either you can open another window to see if it went through which may not be the case trying to think when I do this do I find that it went through (thinking) I don't think so, go back when you see the response send it like you did the first time this may have something to do with mylot if we both have this problem, seems we have the same issues my friend what are the chances lol every complaint I have you had and visa versa lol this happened to me twice today lol or you know what I just remembered copy/paste this way you will have your response just paste it in the empty box and send. this is not going through think my connection is going bye bye. I am sending this anyway although I could have shortened it I was able to copy/paste before I was kicked lol

I have made those types of mistakes before too.. but the one mistake that came back to bite me, was in one of my discussions i was trying to be politically correct and failed to use correct terminology when referring to a person born with a chromosonal problem ?? i still dont know how to say that properly.. i said mental defect.. but someone took that as a shot against people born with that problem thinking i was calling them defective.. when infact, i was trying to be scientific and/or politically correct with my wording. BACKFIRED.

We DO have an edit button...the majority of people don't use it.
It's the "preview comment" button right in front of the "post comment" button if you are responding. Then you will be able to edit your comment in whatever way you want.
We will never be able to alter or remove anything that has been posted because this is a paying site....what if you had 30 responses to a post and you decided to remove it for some reason....oops! sorry folks, you get nothing from that discussion.
The best idea is to edit BEFORE you post.

Hi Hatley, I laughed I asure you.
I have to admit to a bit of a glaring one in a title on here: My son asked me to ask the question 'Why does pizza come in square boxes' and I humoured him, however what I actually typed was 'Why does pizza come in round boxes.' Not one person other than myself noticed and I received at least 30 identical replies telling me that square boxes were cheaper to produce.
So don't worry about your typos Hatley, people read what they expect to read, not what they actuall read.

hi thea09 I almost used that as a title but was afraid nobody
would understand what I was talking about. he he. It struck'
my funny bone and I had to laugh.I find that I am getting good'at
reading others errors and my mind just automatically Adjusts the
misspelled word or typo word like seeing teh and knowing at once it is the.

Well, Thea is write that people reads what they want to read and these typographical mistakes are usually ingnored at the time of reading. But, somehow they ralize the mistake at that time, they will laugh a little. I remember my wildest mistake was to write "PIECE" for the word "PEACE"...hahahaaaaaaa, luckily one of the user pointed me out and I had corrected it as the site permitted me to do so.

I hate silly errors. The slightest error can change everything. I play a lot of chess, and one move in a really tight postion can make my life whole lot worse. It really irritates me when I am in a totally winning position and I forget or over look one detail and he checkmates me. Or back then, in high school, I took my high school final and was one point away for getting a 1900 on my SAT! I studied my butt off for that, (I was not a genius back then.) Some errors are just plain bad so I now check everything to be as precise as possible. Some things haunt me for life like the time I was playing in the final chess championship and I got mated by the weak bank rank trick. (It's chess terms. haha)

yourbetteroffasian hi yes sometimes silly errors can really'make
things tought for a person. Iused to play chess but my husband'and
my son always beat me.boo hoo.Yes what I need to do especially
is to check the titles when I am writing a discussion as some'
errors will change the meaning of a word.

I am sure I have made some, just do not remember them. However, a friend just talked about going to celebrate something, but she said celibate, instead. Actually, I typed goo-ing, instead of going, so does that count?

I think I have done this silly mistakes here many times. Especially when I think while type and delete some parts when the words doesn't look quite right. In a haste to post I forget to delete a word or two. Now after it goes on screen and I reread it I become confuse myself of what the whole sentence mean. This distort the whole meaning of the discussion. Sometimes I forget putting the word 'not' like when I wanted to say 'I cannot' I end up writing 'I can'. This omission of the word can create a lot of difference to a post. It takes the reader some creative thinking to understand the whole discussion.

Hi Hatley,
I thanked a friend here who said I am his 100th friend. I said something like, he is so friendly coz he was able to amass so many friends in such a short time, while I don't even have half of his friends' total number when I came here first before he did. Then I wrote that I checked the myLot population and I found out there are 183,000+ members, and that I should have at least 10% of those. I meant to type 1%, but I erroneously typed 10%. So my friend pointed out to me like I was being ridiculous, as 10% of 183,000 is 18,300, and obviously that's too many for a number of friends. Too late to correct it.
