Do bad things really happen in threes?  |

 My streak of bad luck started last week with a rock on the freeway. Now I have a two foot long crack in my front windshield. Then on Sunday Richard went to mow the lawn and the mower wouldn't start. Third problem with that mower in the two years since we bought it and he was pissed because he had spent extra for a nice one so he wouldn't have problems. (sidebar - it was probably a little evil of me to suggest that my dad never had problems in 20 years with his push mower. lol) Then when he got in the car to go and do something about the mower, the car wouldn't start. Dead battery. So that's all kind of gasoline powered vehicle related bad luck that it's going to cost money to fix.
Do you think bad things happen in threes?
Does that mean that I'm done with bad things for a while?

| 3. flydanman (82) | 4 months ago |  I think bad things do happen in threes. I work in aviation and I've often noticed that plane crashes/accidents tend to happen in threes in a short space of time. It's almost uncanny. More recently in the past month I've made 3 fairly "firm" landings, I'm hoping that is going to be the last of them for a while!

I do believe things happen in threes but I'm more inclined to believe that they are more like life altering things, like Deaths or threats of any kind. Maybe that's being a bit on the negative side but that's been my experience.
I hope that it is true for you because all of these things are not only annoying but costly.
At the beginning of the year, my car broke down a quarter of a mile from home. It's still broken down. In the meantime hubbies truck has been broken down and he has been working on both continually. Can't afford a mechanic since I'm on disability and my hubby has been out of work since June 2007. I could go on and on but many people here have very similar stories.
To answer your question, I don't know if your threes mean it's done but I really hope so for your sake. Big hug.

Interestingly enough, over the last 7 or 8 days, a colleague of mine had a car accident, his Wife had a car accident and then his Brother had one! In spite of this example, I do ultimately believe that it's more of a self-stimulated mental ideal rather than an actuality. It's very easy to link "bad luck in 3's" instances if we look hard enough! Believe the opposite and the opposite will come true I reckon. Yep, your so called bad luck streak is done and dusted, but only if you wholeheartedly believe so!

It was quiet for a while and then 3 came again this time taking three members of our family, two from cancer and one from H1N1 swine flu. Hopefully death leaves us alone for awhile now as our family has really shrank by 10 members in just the past few years. | |

Another very close GF is in a hospital in Miami and the prognosis is not good. Then another friend is being flown off the Island today to go to Jackson Memorial Hospital. I spent the rest of Sunday phoning my friends and saying, "Are you still alive?"

I do not know that she will make it unless they can find a way for her body to produce the red cells again. Her age is definitely against her re bone marrow transplants etc. My other friend - I just don't know if her will make it. He had knee replacements and got septicemia. Went into heart failure. They removed th knee replacements and he is waiting to fly out. His condition is dicey too. Life can be gone in a flash. I immediately called my children and told them how much I loved them | |

Her teaching post as a lecturer has been cut to 3 hours a week as students have not come up with the fees to be paid. This money will not cover her car payment so am going into heavy prayer mode for her tonight (and for you too)The recession is killing us big time. Sorry, am down today as first day back on the job and my boss really got up my nose. I politely told him that I needed time to settle in again, check my mail and do the banking etc before I could give him accurate accounting figures.
