No, i do not enjoy coughing but will i ever be able to sneeze and cough without being guilty!! The looks from the people around are so haunting!! Can you cough without being looked at as though you are a culprit?

I guess it's because of the swine flu that people are so damn scared and paranoid when anyone coughs or sneezes. Although I have to admit no one looks at me twice when I sneeze, mind you that is hayfever, but how do they know that? I could have swine fever, I don't but you just don't know. I guess it's a kneejerk reaction that a lot of people have and fear. It's contagious and one sneeze well unless you walk around with I haven't got swine fever on my head then no one knows. I was at the gym only today and someone sneezed loudly absolutely NO ONE paid him any attention and the gym was busy!

I have a little loud sneeze Mimpi and i don't tend to muffle it after i got a blood clot in the eye after doing it and a cough sure enough will be heard. I'd tend to turn away from thier looks and look sheepishly away. And if it's at the office and if they look at me I'd look back at them and say " What ??" Never had had a cold before ??

Then it's the face masks or those hazardous material bio suits for them, i'm not hiding my sneezes.

hahaha......that should be it!! But these days, people are so suspicious at even a normal cough and cold that for some normal breathing has gotten impossible!

Well I don't remember coughing in the public as long as I could remember. Well sneezing I do at times. As I am unable to sneeze with my eyes open I never noticed anyone looking at me.May be I close my eyes a wee bit long to ignore the gaze of those who cannot prove and vouch that they have never sneezed in a gathering.

I can, yes, but only if I'm hiding under the stairs in that small cupboard at the time! lol. I don't know what the fascination is to be hoinest and can only assume that it's the sudden noise that startles people and makes them stare? May I suggest that next time you sneeze, ginish the "Atttchooooooo" of with a resounding scream of "And you can all take THAT to the bank!" If they're gonna be staring anyways, you might as well give them a damn good reason! Ending each coughing fit with a few dance steps or a hand raise like gymnasts do after a floor routine or balance beam landing in the Olympics is equally as powerful.

People just don't want to get sick, I guess. A school friend actually dumped me over a sneeze, if you can believe that. You can't help other people's reactions. As long as you're doing your best to cover your mouth, wash your hands, etc., nothing to be upset with yourself about.

I think I can remember you telling me about that if my memory serves me correctly. That is no friend and you were so better off without her, silly moo!

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was an excuse and even if it wasn't she didn't place too much value on the friendship, did she?

Hello dear friend, i hope that you are doing fine. I think that would be very difficult but yes, i wonder why people look at you like that when you cough or sneeze. It is as if they themselves can control it when it is they who are in such position. Can't they just accept it that cough and sneeze are uncontrollable?

I think its been a bit worse since this H1N1 bug has been out about people looking suspiciously at every little cough, I know people with allergies and they sometimes have a little cough and then have to explain themselves...

I always "cover" to protect the people from germs, and I keep pretty healthy so really I don't go around coughing all that often, but no, I cannot remember but one time in my life when I did something that should have triggered a haunting look, and I did it on purpose and never felt guilty. You will like this. I was in a LONG line at the Department of Motor Vehicles waiting to renew my license and there was a big sign that said no smoking but the guy behind me was smoking anyway and that was one time when I had a nasty cold and he was nevertheless crowding my space and his smoke was making me feel bad and hurting my throat, so I turned around and coughed right in his nasty face and waved my hands in the air to blow his smoke (and my germs) back to him. Some of the others in line yelled "Right On!" and laughed, because he had it coming. I didn't wish for him to get sick, but he started it.

The looks from people around when we sneeze or cough has become worse since the swine flu scare. I think everyone is scared of falling ill and just being cautious.

oh Lord mimipi you asked the wrong person here. We are a motley'bunch of people here from fifty to 96 and its rare not tohave someone coughing so we mostly look the other way and dont give the cougher any problems.Unless of course if the one coughing seems to need medical'care. I have never had anyone give me a glance and I was actually choking on something but the nurse saw me and helped me. nobody else seemed to care at all.

I know exactly what you mean! LOL..I have seen it alot and not just towards myself either. I have seen the reactions of people to another when they cough or sneeze. It's almost like they are going to clear the room. I think that it's mostly the hype over the flu thing.

Hi mimpi, no problem at all with coughing in Greece as everyone has a smokers cough anyway. Sneezing, what time does the olive pollen come out, remind me, everyone sneezes then but only for a week
