Can we return to trust and integrity? |
|
Throughout our nation, Americans have lost their trust in our government, all the major institutions, and each other. It seems as if integrity is rare, so there isn't much to trust. Do you think we can return to being happy andcomfortable in our country? Is it too late to put an end to the haters who out-shout everyone else?

3. DrMario (1132) | 4 months ago | I've been listening to the bashing of a President and Congress for the last couple of decades. This Administration is no different. All Administrations and members of Congress are suspect. The sad thing is they are teaching us to act in the same manner that they are.
I just wish that we would get to a point where people and politicians could discuss and debate each other without resorting to name calling and bashing the other side just to bash.
The problems we have faced in America have taken a bad turn since the very first stimulus and subsequent bail-outs... it makes me wonder just who is benefiting from this type of spending. It sure isn't the taxpayer. We will be paying a TRILLION dollars a year in interest on our National debt. This most recent nightmare of Health care is the perfect example.... we have both sides acting like children and the people are following suit when in fact there isn't even a plan for us to see yet.
I don't always see the people that speak out as haters Cobra. Some just want the truth from our leaders and can't seem to get it and when they speak out they are called names for doing so. Its our DUTY to question our Government about whats going on. It happened with Bush as President and is continuing with Obama. I find it sad to see that because you speak out, you are labeled a hater or someone that just want to stop good plans from continuing... truth is I haven't seen a good plan come from Washington in many decades.
If we can ever hope to return to trust and integrity in our Government, not really sure if there ever has been, we need to hold accountable those elected to serve us and demand that they treat us as what we really are... their bosses.
we elected them to represent us, not to dictate to us. Until we see real reform in the basic way our leaders work and represent us, and most importantly, treat us in years when they aren't up for re-election, we will see the average American following the lead set in Washington.
I'm not holding my breath. Theres too many funny games being played and the types of individuals that our leaders surround themselves with is disturbing at best.
So nice to see you cobra, I hope you feel good and your TMJ is not giving you trouble these days:)

cobrateacher (4271) | 4 months ago | Speaking out and questioning the government are the things we should all do. Spreading lies and making up false accusations are not. Those who do those things are the haters. They seem to forget that the bail-outs were begun under the Bush administration, and the stimulus just moved along after the current president came into office. As for health care, the public hasn't seen the bill because it's still under debate, so there is no bill yet. Both sides of the aisle are working on it, and many loud objectors are inventing things that don't exist yet to complain about. There's the problem. I just think we need to see actual proposals before we shout them down.
Thanks for the god wishes. I finally got rid of the stitches from the fifth operation Thursday, and I', pain-free for the first time since 1996, when I was originally injured.
Incidentally, you might have a look at the next response to see evidence of hate-speak trying to cover itself up.

4. TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 4 months ago | I hate to say that the people who show the most hate to our American Constitution happen to have a connection to Judaism. I'm not saying that all Jewish people hate our American values but as a rule of thumb the worst violators in my own experience have a connection in the power of authority and have violated the rule of law some were just ignorant and some even lied.
We will not see a day of peace if we do not hold the violators accountable, these criminals need to be removed from their positions to allow more honorable people into the system and to set the record straight.
I want the culprits who are not doing their work properly to be removed and they can learn what being a hard worker is all about. I don't hate them for being evil, I simply want them held accountable, and then to require recompense and discipline for the unrepentant humans that are bad.
The innocent should never be convicted of a crime, especially when there is ample proof to prove that the crime was committed by another individual.

cobrateacher (4271) | 4 months ago | I believe I can respond responsibly, because I am both an activist and a Jew. I've been called ugly things by far better than you. Religion has nothing to do with any of this. I understand that many people think Jews are rich people who control the economy. I can think of a couple of people who fit that stereotype, but most Jews, like me, are hard-working people who can barely make ends meet, just like everyone else. Patriotism is one of the major thrusts of American Jewish education. So is acceptance of those who are not Jews. As for culprits who do not do their jobs right, and who make America a country to be hated, shall we start with Cheney? Please do not contact me or respond to my posts in the future. I am, indeed, prejudiced. I a totally unaccepting of bigotry!
| |
|
|
TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 4 months ago | I will respect your wishes in the future if that is truly how you feel about me...
My point you have taken out of context, I do not like Cheney and it is a great number of people working in the system of government who are Jewish but act nothing like a Jewish person should act that I am talking about. I never point the finger at you whom I admire and respect. While we probably will not agree on the issue of organized religion and the place for organized religion in our world. I still respect a person who is honest. I'm pointing out that I did not use hate speech and I am not a bigot against all Jewish people just the ones that I have found not to be doing their jobs.
I didn't want to name names of three I can think of right off the top of my head so I spoke/wrote in general terms of them... Indeed one bad apple spoils the whole basket and I know of three, there are others to be included as I didn't go on about everyone who has hurt me, several are Mennonite or they are affiliated with Christianity.
Don't think I'm covering up the bigotry in a reversed manner, and tell me again that I am wrong and call me hate filled and I will stay way clear of you because your eyes are so clouded you can not see the truth in what I write.
I've been seriously hurt and very recently as well I might add.
Do you always allow bad people to hurt the innocent?

CJscott (1032) | 4 months ago | I am sorry to say Mr.Buffalo, if you did not intend insult, you should not have targeted a specific "type" of person. You are right, there are good people and bad people in each religion. Not any specific one, the best way around that is to say "some people" that don't do their jobs properly.
On a side note, there may be a mylotter or two that would do far better then the current government, but how do you convince people that don't know them that they are the right choice, to change the government, you need the majority of the populaces approval, they don't have that in certain countries, and so there is much violence as the governments constantly change. Oprah, and Walmart, are known and loved by the majority of people, and walmart has the 5th highest GDP in the world...that is higher then 250+ countries, I think they might know how to run a big organization, which is essentially all that a government is anyways, we would be debt free, and at peace with most in a matter of a decade or so, no major change will happen over night, or even in the first few years, no matter who is in power.
Cheers.

TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 4 months ago | Hi CJScott,
Certainly some people or the culprits is using the exact same line of thought, and yes I chose every word to write to Cobra Teacher very carefully knowing that I did not want to make her feel attacked.
Some people are overly sensitive and I had no way of knowing that she was in recovery for 13 years of pain healed and in no way do I want to be responsible for causing any harm or pain.
My only thoughts to fall back on are that if I don't realize in my own Heritage that as an American we were first a penal colony and my ancestry would connect my bloodline to a country that had one of the craziest leaders of all time, so here let me throw out the Hitler name and then see if the people can relate that to their own revered founding leader Joshua son of Moses. I believe the annihilation or genocide of any group of people or nation is wrong, more over the stealing of land and forcing people into depravity through oppression causing them to be depressed is also wrong.
What Cobra Teacher has done is she caused a little confusion by taking my well crafted words out of context and twisting or spinning them to imply something I did not write and she freely admits to doing so.
I have saved a snap shot of this conversation,
I am awake this morning witn new inspiration.
I know what I must do because my religious freedom has been violated.
Oh' and as for Wal-mart and their expertise many people would say that Wal-mart is trying to dominate the world, I've seen people equate the fact that the world is dominated by a single entity or group as world control some people call that surviving under a dictator.
Personally, I think Wal-Mart is great, they brought down expenses to stream line a good quality product en masse to share all around the globe. The key point is they are not driving the suppliers out of business because that would simply be foolish on their part, they are getting the most out of each supplier for the least cost, streamlining and focusing on the goal to build a better world. Wal-Mart also supplies opportunities for people of all walks of life to be doing something.
So you are on target... (hitting the marks)
What about the Auto industry and the banks that needed to be bailed out while a super store grows?
There is much fat and hypocrisy in our Free Market system,
We need something to change...
The old model doesn't work so we need a new working model and you just pointed out won that works while I'm now comparing it to the failures of our time...
I think accountability makes all the difference in the world.

|
TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 4 months ago | That was a lot of thought written out, with two areas in need of correction or clarification. I should have clarified that the Jewish people should recognize that Joshua was an oppressive dictator against the Canaanites.
In the end of my writing I wrote won instead of one, I don't know why that happens sometimes...
I apologize for my errors...

5. CJscott (1032) | 4 months ago | No trust in the big guns because power corrupts. Every one is running around on their wives and the populace feels this affects their work, which it does. Can the country return to happiness, sure, vote everyone out, and put in only people you trust, people that have a built a relationship with you, people you like, make it Oprah, and Wal-mart, the country will be the best it has ever been in no time.
Cheers.

TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 4 months ago | Wal-Mart has learned to respect all people, and who is Wal-Mart?
There certainly is a reason we need to expose human rights violations all around the world. We all need to help the oppressed.
We all have to be careful that we do not oppress.
I would like to share more of what I've been through more freely but at this time I know I have to be careful of what I reveal publicly, I'm also sorry that I'm forced to generalize instead of exposing those who need to be brought into account, but I think it is better to follow my guide rather than react hastily, shouting in the streets and making a complete chaotic spectacle instead of keeping things under control and leaking bit and pieces at will...

| |
|
|
TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 4 months ago | Right now there are many documents out there that bring us into financial peril, we need to sort through each one to synchronize each one and make the necessary corrections as we go along the way, there is no one document but many, they are like books and beliefs and each person has their own and yet they all go off in different directions, we need to get people working together to create a new pathway, to encourage participation while considering a new beginning to bring about a much better end one that never ends.

7. leenie50 (1836) | 4 months ago | Hi Jo,
I believe that if most of us take responsibility for our own happiness and stand up for this Country, then yes I think we can regain the integrity we as a Nation so desperately need. We need to hold our appointed Government officials to their promises and much more than what was promised. It is so tragic to see what is happening in our Government and in ourselves. I hope that our economical downfall wakes this Nation up and makes people start thinking about their part in it. Then and only then will things begin to change for the good. It's never too late Jo. TheGreatWhiteBuffalo (1443) | 4 months ago | We know how to make terrorists, they have shown us how to make a suicide bomber and how well that tool works, what we need now is to make sure that there is an alternative to that type of vigilante behavior and that what a suicide bomber is they are vigilante's trying to take out as many evil humans as they can to make reparations for their own personal losses.
As an American I am totally offended by our leaders for making the circumstances ripe, in raising terrorists in our own homes. We have used the worst of all reasons to go to war in an effort to renounce what we believe to be human rights violations while becoming the creators of fear and allowing that fear to abuse the human rights of others.
We are fighting Mob mentality or a 'Gang' Street War, more like the Mafia and if we follow the money where does it go? Most goes to the big man running the street, some goes to Rome and some goes to Israel, some goes to Latin and Asian families.
The money goes and the money flows, in some places the current is very deep.
