Make exercise nonnegotiable. Many of us have stagnant life and spend most hours in front of the computer mylotting without realizing that we have grown sideways fast as a result of immobility. You have started an exercise program and feel good but maintaining it on a daily basis is something not everyone of us can sacrifice our time doing. Halfhearted efforts yield halfhearted results.
Taking ten minutes a day doing some stretching can do wonders to our body weight. Not only that it can help reduce some of the risk factors associated with obesity and can help improve some of the symptoms linked to diabetes and high cholesterol. We are aware that these disease are silent killers. So stay motivated, don't procrastinate, and keep on exercising.

4. grandpa_lash (1664) | 3 months ago | At my age it has to be, partly because of the age, and partly because of my ongoing health problems. I do 30 mins a day on a home gym, mainly for lower back and abdomen strength and upper back mobility to deal with my arthritic condition, Forestier's Disease; I do 30 mins a day on an exercise bike, partly for my lungs to deal with emphysema, and partly to try to keep my weight down; I do a 40 minute a day walk with my dogs, for the same reasons as well as exercising the dogs, and this exercise with diet has taken 36 lbs off in 10 months. I also do between 1 and 3 hours a day in the garden, sometimes quite physically demanding work, partly for all the above reasons, and partly because I don't enjoy living in a jungle lol. I feel a lot better for it.

Good news you have managed to reduce your body weight within 10 months with your consistency in exercising and diet. I too wish that I can get rid of the abdominal flabs that has been there for so long and refuse to go even with vigorous exercise.

5. shibham (1155) | 3 months ago | hi zandi. good discussion. i did exercises years ago but now i am out of it due to my busy life. when i was involved in exercises, i felt that i am very easy in day to day life and can do everything with an enthusiasm. but from the time of my changed routine i begin ti feel that i am lazy and not so comfort to everthing. i feel tired and lots of negative results. so i think that i shall come back to those days. thanks.

6. thea09 (4154) | 3 months ago | Hi zandhi, I would say that until this Easter my exercise was just walking and swimming which was more like floating lazily in the sea, but I was frightened to attempt more as had severe pain for up to several hours a day from nerve damage caused by upper disc problems. Then I had the good fortune to meet a doctor wawho made it his business to help me and we'd meet for several hours eaach week gradually building up an exercise programme to first strengthen my neck muscles, then arms, then back. They are difficult and include the use of weights and are slow exercises which must be done in an exact fashion. Within a few weeks I was seeing the benefits and the constant pain had gone and I was suddenly able to drive again normally. I contine with the regime which takes one hour a day as the back must be worked on daily. Also I hold myself in a different way now always being aware of the correct posture to suit my neck. One of the pleasant results of this is that although I am very slim I actually have an improved shape from doing this. After all the time my friend put in with me I could never let him down now by stopping as he changed my life around.

I do know how lucky I am though to be the exact same weight as I was when I was 20 but that comes with eating healthily and not overindulging. Apart from walking I hadn't done any exercise in years till I started with my doctor friend.

7. alatecablebill (505) | 3 months ago | i walk a lot everyday. when i'm in school, i walk from one class going to the other and these classes are held in different buildings that are far away. it usually takes me about 10 minutes to get to the next class. i do that for about 5-7 times daily. that's the only exercise i get everyday.

9. d_red_madelaine (287) | 3 months ago | I used to do some walking and a little run but since we started to have permanent internet connection my only exercise now is going to the bathroom, going to the kitchen to get some food or just walking around the house. The result, I've gained a few pounds, about 5 or so for not burning calories. I now have a belly, which is not that big before for just sitting around the whole day. What can I say, sedentary lifestyle makes you look ugly and someday can be in danger of heart disease or hypertension. So, I committed myself of walking again, at least to go out once in a while and not just sit around, how about laying down while mylotting?! Nahh.
