Issue with fleas

Try going back to nature, fleas hate clove oil. just put a little on your dog and brush her. you can also try petsage.com they have great products for cats and dogs. hope this helped.

I found that Frontline is one of the few flea products that actually works, none of the other brands ever did. Unfortunately it doesn't work immediately especially if you have a bad flea problem. You say you are vacuuming the carpet, are you also vacuuming every piece of furniture in your house and everywhere Emma Sue goes? Are you also using flea killer sprays in your yard outside where the fleas live too? It's an awful pain to get rid of fleas, I know, but it can be done. It is a lot of work though and it can take a lot of money too. Good luck, I hope you can get rid of them.

i have the same problem with my dog. i tried a couple of those dog soaps in grocery stores and they seemed not to have any effect. my dog still has fleas and itches a lot. thanks to those who posted replies here. i will try your suggestions too.

I have had really good luck with frontline too....I have a huge long haired dog and he is flea free with frontline...
Hoever I also know that garlic works...
Mix some real garlic (not the powderes stuff) in with your dogs food...the fleas hate it....but some dogs are picky eaters....mine eats it but he eats anything.

I'm glad you asked this question jterrock. I think this is abad year for fleas. My dog has frontline and wears a flea collar and still has fleas. I bathe him but that is good only for about a day. I just saw the response about the clove oil, maybe I will try that. I would be careful with the garlic because garlic is not good for dogs and could cause digestive upset or worse,

I have a pomeratnian that has fleas. I did bathh her with flea shampoo and not sure it worked. I do have a flea comb that I try to get them out with. I see a lot of flea dirt, but no fleas, so maybe it did kill them for a bit anyway. I will have to try other ways of getting rid of them, as I can't afford frontline, and yet I have used it many times and I know it really works. I have a bichon, but she doesn't seem to have fleas as she is short haired, and there is no place for them to hide. I do need to get my dogs groomed so I think once I do that, I will get rid of the fleas, at least for awhile. I will have try a few of the suggestions though and see if they work, except for the garlic, as I will pass on that one.Take care, and happy mylotting.

I would use the Brewers Yeast bitter kind. I would also suggest flea killer for your carpet. Feed your dog a Brewers Yeast every day. You can get it at walmart in the Vitamin Isle. It will keep the fleas and ticks off and make their coat shiny. The non-bitter kind just makes thier coat shiny. The bitter kind is what my wife and I use.

Feed her garlic and brewer's yeast. NutroMax brand petfood already has it in the food.

You can purchase cedar chips and lavender flowers, put them in a pillow case, sew it up, and put that on her bed. That should take care of pests and make her bed smell great. Also, you can purchase citrolella, cedar, and/or rosemary essential oils. Rosemary essential oil has an added benefit of likely being good for your dog's coat. What you do is add a few drops to the handful of shampoo that you use on your dog when you bathe her. These essential oils act as repellents, not just of fleas, but of other pests. None of these things are expensive: my favorite online place to purchase herbs and essential oils and such things is mountainroseherbs.com. They also have a catalog that they will send to you, if you prefer that.

I've always used the above methods in a preventative manner and have never had a problem with fleas. Good luck!
