Have you ever found someone's voice simply too annoying to handle?  

That sort of thing bugs my husband far more than me, though I do notice people who have "annoying" voices...

I once knew a guy that would do an "uhhhhh" really loud everytime he was thinking of a word to say. He must of been a treat if he ever was on a debating team. That's the kiss of death right there

I know of two such people. One is a girl who's voice is somewhat akin to a vaccuum cleaner and fingernails on a blackboard combined. I am not being mean or anything, but seriously, her voice is like a buzz-saw right to the brain. The other one is a guy, and it's not his voice so much as it is his annoying habit of humming. Not humming, like in tunes or anything, more like the buzz of a million bees anytime he is thinking or pausing between sentences.

Problem is, I like both of them and I know I don't feel good about judging either one this way. The challenge is, I do, and I just can't help it. More than ten minutes with either one, and I am reaching for the headache tablets.

It makes me feel like the worst person in the world, but it is how I feel nonetheless.

i think that everyone has someone like this. i think that ever grade has a couple of girls in there grade that there voices are just so annoying. i know that there was this one girl in my grad who was really annoying because when she talked she whined all the time and everyone couldnt stand it like people in the class whould talk about how annoying she was cause she whined whenever she spoke. i felt bad for her at times though, but i hope she grew out of it.

I have couple people that perfect with that description. sometimes their voice even make the hair on the back of my neck standing! Luckily, we don't work at the same areas, so I don't have to suffer all day.

There are definitely some people whose voices are really just unpleasant. Fran Dresher (however it's spelled)comes to mind. But also in real life. There is a girl who I have friends in common with so has a very shrill voice. And not only that, but she loudly shrieks things rather than calmly stating things. I want to like her, because of our mutual friends, but her overly-excited and strident speaking really bothers me. The fact that it's her naturally piercing voice *combined* with her excessively giggly and loud behavior is what really gets to me.

Yes, i have a friend, who sounds like one of those things you buy, to distort your voice, only it is hers, and it is very hard to have a convo with her, without wincing! lol...very strange indeed, she sounds demonic or something, lol.

High-pitched voices annoy me. I know a couple (moms of my kids' friends)who have this type of voice. It's like a whistle blowing in my ears, so shrill that I can still hear their voices long after we've ended the conversation. Fortunately, I only speak to them when we are arranging play dates , birthday parties, pick-ups. I think shrill voices on men are even worse. That must be the whining effect you are referring to.

Yeah. i can understand where you are coming from. I had a friend in church and she constantlly sounded like she was shouting even at normal levels. I have to lough as I sometimes sound like I'm shouting atnormal levels so i probably have the same effect on others. Iknow we cn't control what we sound like so I take that in to consideration.

I can certainly relate to this.. I once met a guy over the internet and he was very lovely, charming, and handsome. When we agreed to meet I thought I finally found prince charming. The second he opened his mouth and said "hi darling nice to finally meet you" I almost died of shock and disappointment. His voice sounded exactly like Donald Duck on Prozac!..

Oh my God he had such a high pitched voice for a guy and just hearing him turned me off completely, which was sad because from the way we chatted and the pics I saw of him he sounded like the jackpot. But I couldn't stand his voice and so after enduring an hour of his horrendous voice, I didn't know how to tell him his voiced annoyed me so I excused myself and said I was going to the toilet. I never went to the toilet, I went round the back exist of the restaurant and I've never seen him again
