Law Abiding Citizen |
|
My sister wants to see Law Abiding Citizen really bad--I do too. But my issue with it is it's R for violent and bloody torture and death scenes...I don't like blood so I'm sure that all those parts in the movie will upset me...
BUT...Gerard Butler is in it--and looks GOOOOOD! lol. I love Gerard Butler and always enjoy his movies, he's a good actor! I'm weighing the pros and cons of this movie

1. stephcjh (22992) | 3 months ago | I have heard a little bit about the movies but do not know a whole lot about it. I have taken some surveys on it. I think I may like to see it also but I do not like a whole lot of gory scenes in movies either so I am not sure.

LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 3 months ago | For some reason it didn't finish my whole post above! lol. I wanted to end by saying the pro (Gerard Butler) may be outweighing the con (torture) because I can close my eyes at those scenes...and keep them open on Gerard Butler! lol
If you see it before me let me know how it is!

3. millertime (241) | 3 months ago | Oh, you should go see it. You can always close your eyes during the parts you don't like, lol. It looks like a good movie. Definitely on my list of movies I want to see.

LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 3 months ago | Yeah! That's what I'm telling myself...I always go to movies where I have to close my eyes--so why not this one!? lol. Of course most of the movies don't have long, violent torture scenes...and I really hate torture. (Hostel was the biggest movie mistake of my life!!)
But I will probably end up going to it lol. Gerard Butler is too sexy too pass up:P But I dont see how it can end well for him 8*(

DavidReedy (1677) | 3 months ago | Wow, come to think of it, I have seen a preview for it... It looked good, and you just made it sound completely awesome. Gonna' have to check it out at some point. thanks again, DR...

DavidReedy (1677) | 3 months ago | You see, I suspect that most people cannot communicate, let alone think, and thus do not like to read, write, speak while being scrutinized, recieve and kind of criticism, or listen... On the other hand you're a writer, I'm a writer, we're both passionate about our own various things, and I think I can speak for both of us when I say we read and research, etc., What I'm saying in a long drawn out way is that it's next to impossible for you (or for anyone with anything intelligible to say) to ramble to me--make sense? I like messages, I like clarification, I like details, unlike most of the mensch...

LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 3 months ago | Oh no! I don't think you can edit your discussions (at least easily) here. I meant I was jst editing them in my mind.

DavidReedy (1677) | 3 months ago | Oh. See now, this is the part where if I wasn't tired, or was, in fact, really witty, I'd have something clever to say. I don't know, something alluding to you being crazy or psychic or something. Oh well. Gotcha. Acorns.

UmiNoor (409) | 4 weeks ago | Gerard Butler plays a great 'bad' guy in Law Abiding Citizen. He's actually the good guy pushed to become bad so the audience's sympathy is with him and not the ambitious and self-centred prosecutor played by Jamie Foxx. In fact, when I saw the movie I don't really like Jamie Foxx character even though he's the one playing the good guy.
| |
|
|
LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 4 weeks ago | Yeah, it was very unfortunate events that lead him to become such a bad guy...and it wasn't JUST the death of his family...a big part of it was the fact that the worse guy got off so easy! I think that's what REALLY pushed him over the edge, because before that he was just a mourning father...afterward he was a homicidal maniac...
But the fact that he killed innocent people...and other characters I liked in the movie (like Jamie Foxx's assistant)...made it hard for me to feel sympathy for him. I ALWAYS felt sympathy for the fact his family was killed...BUT when he killed people I never saw any justice in it.

6. crysontherocks77 (534) | 3 months ago | Its supposed to be a really good movie to watch. If you like a " thriller drama" i would suggest to send your sister to go see it first then her let you know if it's really grossing for you to want to see or not. Sometimes a movie gets over talked about and it might not be as bad as you might think. Go for it. Rated r is hard to tell. But one thing it should be a good movie. You could wait until the movie came out in rental or in the stores. Rental is good because you pay one time for the rental and you can watch and then if you don't like you haven't spent as much money as if you were going to the theater. Also it could tell you if you want to buy it when it's in the retail store. good luck.

LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 3 months ago | It wasn't as bad as I thought...the two scenes I was worried about were actually really short and not as bad as the rating detail made them sound. BUT I did manage to close my eyes perfectly during this movie, and didn't see much of anything I didn't want to...lol.
It was pretty good...it defeniatly makes your cringe...but I didn't really care for the ending...

7. thelastwolf113 (3089) | 2 months ago | It's not as bloody as you might think. I thought it was done very well. It's not about revenge, it's so much more than that. I really liked it. I love Gerry too and will watch him in anything. This is his usual high caliber movie.

LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 2 months ago | Well the torture scene wasn't as gruesome as I thought it would be--I was expecting a drawn out, 10 minute scene--that's the way the rating desciption made it seem. (But I still closed my eyes during that part out of worry, and when the little girl put the tape in) lol.
I pretty much closed my eyes at every scene where someone died lol, especially the judge--I knew from the preview something bad was gonna happen to her when she answered the phone.
Luckily I was really good at closing my eyes and I didnt see anything too gruesome.
And I agree, it was a good movie. Gerard Butler is, once again, great in the movie (and his usual sexy self) lol. And surprsingly, the movie had a lot of comical parts in it....except in my theater every time someone died (like the judge) people would crack up! I was like...wow you guys are morbid! lol

|
thelastwolf113 (3089) | 2 months ago | Aah, then you missed all the best parts! I went to the Saturday matinee, maybe 10 people in the theater. I went with my son and his friend but they wre sitting too close to the screen so I moved back a few rows, when the judge scene happen, I ran up to them and said That was awesome! It was ingenious, and it happened so fast, you really didn't see anything. Same with the torture scene, you don't see much, but you know what's happening. As far as this kind of thing goes, I thought it was pretty tactful, considering the circumstances.
Yes, Gerry is hot! It still baffles me when I say his name and people don't know who he is, especially women. I've been following him since he played the title role in Attila. Talk about hot, that man was on fire! My other favorites are: 300 Beowulf & Grendel P. S. I Love You Timeline Dear Frankie

LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 2 months ago | I just really don't like gore--it disturbs me. And even if it didn't show MUCH...what it did show may have still upset me. I have a very low gore intake ability...lol.
I went to the movie with my mom, dad and sister...we all had to sit in one of the very front rows, we were 4 or 5 back. I defeniatly would have prefered to sit further back.
Well everyone in my family knows who he is, because of me:P lol. I'm always saying how hot he is:D I actually fell in love with him after I saw Phantom of the Opera, my first Gerry movie. Man....he had the whole dangerous, sexy thing going on--and he sang! Mm mm mm mm m...lol.

LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 2 months ago | Ooo I just thought of something!!!
Did you see Shattered (aka Butterfly on a Wheel)....that is a really really good Gerry movie! Defeniatly check it out if you haven't already:D
I own PS I Love You and Dear Frankie!!!:) Good movies!!! I also have Shattered and Phantom...I think, for right now, those are all the Gerry movies I own! lol
Ugly Truth was funny too!
| |
|
|
thelastwolf113 (3089) | 2 months ago | Did sang some hardcore rock n' roll in P.S. I Love You, Mustang Sally, man what was awesome! He's got a rock n' roll voice. He was in a band before becoming an actor.
You've got to see Attila and Beowulf & Grendel, long hair Gerry, very sexy, primal.
I have Ugly Truth but haven't watched it yet.
| |
|
|
LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 2 months ago | O yeah! He did sing in PS I Love You! lol. I only ever think about him singing in Phantom, so I always forget he sings in other movies:P lol
I will have to check out Attlia and Beowulf/Grendel! I'll see if I can get them on Netflix!:P lol.
The Ugly Truth was funny, but quite sexually graphic...maybe not the best movie to go to with my mom!:P lol
Did you see Shattered? Have you even heard of it? It never got much publicity, and wasn't in theaters. But it was a good one!

|
thelastwolf113 (3089) | 2 months ago | Yes, saw Shattered soon as it came out on DVD. It was really good, different to see him as the victim (sort of) and Pierce Brosnan as the villian. I'm pretty sure I've seen all GB's movies. Dracula 2000, Reign of Fire, Tomb Raider 2. I haven't seen Gamer yet but I definitely will when it comes to DVD.
He's got a new one, The Bounty, I don't know when it's coming out though. He's a bounty hunter who's target is his wife, played by Jennifer Aniston.
| |
|
|
LilyoftheThorns (3831) | 2 months ago | Yeah I saw Shattered right when it came out on DVD too lol. Then I bought it:P He was a tough victim though:P lol....when is Gerry not tough!:P
I'm not sure if I've seen ever single one of his movies, but I have seen a lot (all that you've listed so far).
I havent seen Gamer yet either, I'm worried about the gore factor...but I'll get it on Netflix when it comes out on DVD.
Yes I've heard of the bounty!:) I only recently found out it's a comedy...I was hopin it would be a kind of thriller movie lol. I like to see Gerry in movies like that:P

|
thelastwolf113 (3089) | 2 months ago | I didn't know it was a comedy. I don't care for what passes as comedy these days in American movies. Oh well, I'll just hope the next one is action or thriller. He does very well in those types of movies.
