I've been reading Glenn Beck's book Arguing With Idiots" and am wondering how many others on myLot are or have already read his book. What do you think about it? It is a real eye opener about what is going on behind the scenes of our "great government"

No offense but I would rather watch CSPAN thank read any book by Glenn Beck. I thought he said that he wouldn't write a book until he had something to write about. I guess the money got to big for him.

Debater, I have a brain, too. I listen to both sides, liberal and conservative radio. I read columns and news reports by both side. The more information you have the better decisions you can make. Listening to both sides is the only way to stand up for yourself--know your enemy, whoever it is, and it's always changing! Knowledge is protection.
If you don't like Mr. Beck that's fine and well. But listen to all points of view and get all the facts before voting or making any decisions that affect our way of government. If everyone did that, we would have much better leadership. I wish I'd learned that earlier--I wouldn't have voted for that damned idiot Bush in 2004!

I don't think so. I have a brain and know how to use it. I don't need anyone telling me how I should think.

While I haven't read that one yet, I did read Glenn Beck's "Common Sense". (Bought it at Walmart) Common sense deals with government issues too, and I found it also to be an eye opener. I found the book to be fascinating, it's obvious that this man has done a lot of research and thinking on the way our government works, and how that power is abused. I like the fact that his writing is not just speculation, it's proveable facts. I would reccomend to anybody who is concerned about America to read his books, it will really make you think. Personally, I hate politics, and after reading that book it actually made me more interested in it. Thanks for bringing this up, I will now have to read this other book of his too.
You know, it's really shocking what those politicians are allowed to legally get away with! And: I will never understand how those congressmen, senators, etc, can ok their own raises in pay, and get cost of living on top. Wouldn't it be cool if we ALL could do that ?! (lol, talk about 'working the system'...) I think the public should vote whether they get a raise or not, after all, they are supposed to be working for us, right?

I have his book "Common Sense" too but got so caught up with the one Arguing With Idiots that I haven't had a chance to read it.
We have been asleep for far too long. I too was never very interested in politics until my grandkids got old enough to vote. Now all that has changed and I just keep getting mad. I agree that we should be allowed to vote on their raises and a lot more that affects us.
You should see their health care plan.

I'll read it when it comes to the library, I can't afford to buy books. But I really enjoy Mr. Beck. He makes me think and has opened my eyes to the corruption in our government, which I never knew was so widespread. I also like the fact that he doesn't care about parties, just the truth.

Well it is well worth the money. but get your name on the list at the library as soon as possible. A friend of mine is on the library list for "Common Sense" and is in position 30 but she was number 60 some time ago. So people are really reading his books.

I'm glad to hear of the long wait, that means that people are waking up and educating themselves. Maybe we can get some governmental reforms soon.
